I feel like my room doesn't really have a whole lot of personality to it It feels very basic

Here are 3 layout options for our in progress nursery! Option 1 is what we currently have, I’m also adding pics of it to give a better idea of the space. I personally love it and think it’s very functional but my mom acted iffy when I FaceTimed her lol

Notes-
There’s an electrical panel on one wall so I have not included options with the crib near it due to safety concerns (unless I’m wrong about that being an issue). Electrical panel is on same wall as the window

Swivel glider has to be cornered since it reclines

Floor lamp by crib is being replaced with an out of reach wall sconce once we decide crib placement

We plan to use the large dresser for baby’s clothes, every day items etc and closet will be used for storing things (seasonal gear, baby items that he hasn’t grown into yet, etc) so I don’t plan on needing regular access but the swivel glider is easy to get around or move when needed.

All furniture has been purchased/sizes aren’t flexible so please don’t recommend alternate furniture or getting rid of the changing table (I have had friends suggest only using a dresser with a pad on top but I prefer a dedicated changing table)

Hey please ignore the mess, but I’ve been living in a basement apartment with roommates for last 5 years and hate it. I want to actually start loving my space, Finally upgrading a lot furniture from childhood items. Need some ideas on how to reorganize and what to buy. I like the clean girl aesthetic. Thinking about painting walls to be white. Getting rid of my two old dressers and getting one shorter longer one with more space and a new desk for pc set up. I also already bought this new queen bed frame. This is the type of dresser I like but not committed to the colour yet. Any ideas or photos of layouts would be helpful! I don’t know if I get all white furniture if it will be too light but I also don’t like the idea of having matched furniture I want it to be cohesive. I also like natural light and plants but I can’t keep them alive since it’s a basement and it gets very dusty down here quickly with too many things.

The first low wall is about 4.5 ft from the floor. I didn't crawl under there to measure the smallest cubby area. This will be my husband's closet. He has a lot of t-shirts, jerseys, and hats. He wears dri-fit activewear type shirts for work that are current kept in a bin since they don't wrinkle.

I had an idea of rolling cube storage for the short cubby space on the left side but can't image how to actually execute it. He's a grab and go type of guy, so I would like to make it easy for him in this odd space.

oh and the electrical stuff is outdated and will be removed since its not needed.

does anyone have any advice on how to rearrange things and also just decorate? the radiator on the left wall feels like kind of an issue and that i can’t put stuff there.

i’m open to storing the keyboard under my bed and pulling it out when needed as well!

I’m trying to figure out where the best spot to put a TV would be. The easiest and nicest looking option seems to be putting it above the fireplace, but I would hate to crane my neck.

How and where can I fit a 160 cm x 200 cm bed in this room?

The bed measures 175 cm x 215 cm in total.

Right now, the bed is positioned with the headboard against the wall at the top, in front of the window. I sleep on the left side of the bed. If the bed is against the right wall and I sleep on the left side, I’ll be facing the radiators.

There’s also a linen curtain and a slightly thicker curtain hanging in front of the window.

I have no idea what the best arrangement would be. Somehow, none of the options seem ideal. Do you have any ideas or suggestions?

Okay, I need help! I moved into this apartment and am unsure of how to set it up well and how to play with color. I know I need art, but I don’t want to hang anything until I have the furniture placement finalized. The tan/ gold bookshelf will be replaced— I’m waiting for a nice danish oak shelf of a similar width to be refinished and delivered. What color rug (given these beige floors…) Curtains? Creative ideas for hiding the cables? The frosted glass 7/8 wall is awful and I don’t know how to work with it in the space. I love old wooden pieces but also want to play with more modern accents but I’m just a little lost on how to make it feel cozy and cohesive.

I moved into this apartment a few months ago, and while I love the rest of it I can’t figure out what to do with the bathroom. It’s only about 5x7 ft including the shower space and all the tile is painted over with this horrible peeling paint. There’s no ventilation, but I live alone so I just leave the door open. It can still get pretty humid though. I rent so I can’t make any major changes, but I’ll patch holes/paint when I leave.

My main focus at the moment is storage. I have the medicine cabinet but otherwise there’s not room for much else. I had a standing over the toilet cabinet, but it was wobbly, looked cheap, felt looming in the small space, and still didn’t organize my things very well. Otherwise I’ve considered:
- A renter friendly cabinet that could slide under the sink. These tend to scream wayfair to me (nothing wrong with that, it just isn’t really my style/doesn’t fit the rest of my apartment) plus finding the right size has been hard
- A tall cabinet in the small space between the wall and toilet. This was my favorite idea but I’m worried now that will feel in the way just like the over the toilet cabinet, and again it’s an awkward tight space that doesn’t fit most furniture
- A wall cabinet above the toilet and/or above the towel rack. This would have to be narrow in depth and not too high I need to climb over the toilet to reach it, but I also want it higher than the storage cabinet sat (the bottom of the cabinet sitting a few inches above the tiles would probably be fine). This is my new favorite idea but I’m still on the fence

My style is eclectic, but mostly because I don’t have a lot of expendable income and I thrift most things. I do tend to like interesting textiles, real wood furniture, and vintage pieces. None of these would do super well in a humid bathroom though. I don’t often like plastic or high gloss wood pieces and the metal furniture I can find is typically open storage which looks messy to me. I’ve seen great answers on this subreddit before so I figured someone might have a creative solution. At some point I’d also like to make it a little less ugly so general design ideas are also welcome.

We’ve put a lot of work into this room, but it still doesn’t sing to me in the way I hoped. What’s missing?

I’m thinking curtains would be helpful, but I am a little torn on color for curtains. I don’t want to add too much olive green, but it also feels like more color right be needed.

I’m usually a neutrals girl (beige, tan, ivory, creams) but recently moved into a new place that has a lot of greenery on the outside, as well as high ceilings and black grid windows in a loft-style vibe. I’m thinking of a forest green couch to complement the greenery outside, but I keep getting stuck on how to pull it all together with a rug that will work well with the space. I’m instinctively leaning towards a cream rug but don’t think that is the best way to go here, and I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Here is a picture of how the previous owners styled it (which I want to imitate but with my own twist) and then a picture of the empty layout that I’m currently working with. Any advice on what kind of rug and coffee table would go well with a forest green modular cloud couch? Or should I choose a different couch color? I’m stressing and my eyes are fried from looking through catalogs but getting nowhere. Thank you all in advance!!

I just moved into a new apartment. I decided to put my dining table in the same room as my couch/tv/living room. Now there is a “big” space in the kitchen that feels empty. I just want the spaces to work and right now it feels off.

It's just a rectangular space connected to a short hall to the kitchen, little storage room, etc. There's literally nothing in here yet, but I plan to get a couch, dining table, chairs, and tv. I'm open to any suggestions for arrangement and additional furniture. I can't purchase a whole lot of furniture, but I still would like to consider what would be good for the room. Thanks!

Need help with a rug for our space. Pretty please. This is all the furniture we already have. We want the room to look chic/ lux so we intend on getting a very large rug, but every color I try doesn’t seem to work with our furniture.

My wife and I just moved into this nearly century old home and trying to figure out the best way to make it a bit more functional with more storage without compromising flow.

We would like to increase storage in the bedroom, which currently has a small walk-in closet and an even smaller closet. The wall the bed is against is the bathroom, with a small stall shower, and beyond that is a room we currently use as an office. I hope the photos posted and the layout give a good idea of the current layout.

In the near'ish future, we would love to renovate the bathroom and potentially expand the shower to be a bit larger. No need for a tub, since there is a hallway bathroom that has one.

Bedroom Storage Options:

Option 1: We are considering building a custom closet system on either side of the south facing window, with tall closets on either side, left side for clothes, a bench beneath the window, and the right side to conceal the TV. This option would provide modest storage improvement.

Pros: Additional storage and I think flow around the bedroom wouldn't be terribly impacted.

Cons: Closet construction wouldn't be straightforward given the ceiling/roof line is sloped. Potentially modest flow concern with the edge of the closet being right in front of the primary entrance to the bedroom.

Option 2: Construct a custom closet along the wall that abuts the hallway.

Pros: Potentially more storage given it's a longer run of wall.

Cons: I think this might impede flow into/around the bedroom more than Option 1. Would also need to duct the AC/heat vents underneath the closets.

Bathroom Renovation/Expansion Option:

Option: Steal space from the smaller closet in the bedroom to expand the shower stall into something a bit larger. Steal additional space in the deep closet in the office (labeled Bedroom 4) and move the toilet over and gain a double vanity.

Pros: Larger shower, double vanity.

Cons: Reduced overall closet space in the primary bedroom. More significant plumbing re-routing. Ensure how the drain stacks are oriented without opening up the floor.

Dimensions in the floor plan are approximate. Would welcome thoughts on the above and any other input we may be missing.

The room is a living, dining, kitchen and it's quite spacious. The challenge is that all the windows are on one side, there's a sealed fireplace that's very noticeable, and there are doors at either end.

Attached is what I'm thinking but maybe it's a bit cluttered? I wanted a low table at the end of the kitchen so I can have guests and serve them food, but also a bigger table for proper dining. I'm happy to sacrifice the latter but then the living area is way too big.

The rest of the apartment is 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. One bedroom will be my office so I don't need office stuff in the living room.

I want to redecorate my small bedroom so it feels cozy, intentional, and less cluttered/dated.

The loft bed has to stay, including my workspace/vanity underneath it, and I’m keeping the existing layout, AC, ceiling fan, window, and flooring.

I’m thinking warm cream, muted sage, and warm wood, possibly with some wall moulding or wood slat panels. I’m also open to replacing/removing the small vanity on the other side and adding floating shelves for books, perfumes, and decor instead.

Any ideas on how you’d decorate the room without making such a small space feel even smaller?

Hello! I am looking for help making my bedroom feel more cohesive and intentional. I can’t tell if I should lean more towards the wood on the bed frame and bedside dressers, lean more into the dark colors, or if there’s any way to combine them? What am I missing? What is too much?

I know I need to get a new dresser, just not sure what to replace it with. Other than that, I’m just not sure what will have the most impact or where to start, and what I should keep and what to replace. Hoping to keep the bed frame as it’s new, but open to suggestions.

There are also some empty spaces I’m not sure what to do with. The walls are so long I’m not sure how to decorate them.

Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated! I do rent so I’m not looking to change the wall color. TYIA!!

I'm not sure how to describe this exactly. I really, really like my room. I have thick, black-out curtains. The fan is great. I also have other fans that run. But it somehow feels more... I don't know... open or spacious. Compare that to my partner's room. She has a lot more stuff in there and so it has a cozier feel and is quieter as a result and I find that very comforting. I'm not sure how to replicate that feeling in my room, which is physically larger.

tl;dr: I am hoping to make my room feel... cozier or more full so it helps with noise dampening and feels like more a private, smaller space
