General Question Moodboards Labeled Other Than Moodboard Monday Are Still Moodboards
This is a general reminder that there is a weekly megathread if one feels the need to post them outside of Mondays. Please stop clogging the subreddit on other days trying to justify them as "type me" or what not.
Yes, I'm being the fun police today. The majority of us do not enjoy seeing board after board (according to moderation polling earlier this year). Please respect this.

Type Discussion SP4 endurance for the greater good towards other people
I don't usually write stuff like this here but this idea i had itself seems cool to me because we snoop up to new ideas, unheard and don't just don't look at it through just face value alone but more nuanced and even experienced if you've observed something from irl people.
it's essentially that sp4 or just 4 cores in general have a belief of how the world works against them and this kinda creates envy—having this poor self esteem or any belief which makes you look inward and realize something isn't what its supposed to be, so they idealize or form a belief around it between the world and themselves with changing attitudes depending on the situation, transforming this feeling turning it into a pathway sometimes into reaching what they want but not realizing it's not recreating something new from that feeling it's simply just looking deeper into the feeling even at the cost of your individuality.
let's take for example so4, this hypothetical pathway is forging(im getting deja vu for some reason) and it seems like it's just filled with suffering and the depth of the suffering is what drives and gives the pathway to grow more and more, it can be manifested at any shape but mostly narrow and withdrawn(narrow meaning keeping their cards close to their chest) anyone who comes across it will be curious at least to check out that pathway of the so4, they'll feel slow emotions like so4 themselves but what separates them is the person will be hella confused and misunderstood too even, and this just reinforces the envy cycle and this transformation of one's feelings, one feeling at a time btw meaning there's tons of other pathways
sx4 pathway will be spiky, harsh and filled with negativity and what drops from the spike runs deep in their own pathway until it runs so deep you see only a liquid drop remaining, just the emotion alone, so while it's not straightened, in fact they can expand this pain into many different areas like projection, they're great at it after all, it still will come from a singular line, a sensitive vein
in sp4s case which is the countertype the path will look gentle but harden, close cards but willing to guide you through your own path and discussing your own visions on a path—to keep it shorty since im writing this in midnight, is it possible for an sp4 to hurt a person deeply and still deny that just because "that's how the world is going around and moving" that pathway is hardened because of their inner emotions pumping it with hardness as the person keeps asking why and they say "keep believing in that belief, in the heart" is that possible?

Instincts Do Social blinds outsource the Social Instinct? If so, how?
I’ve read numerous comments on how Self Preservation blinds often outsource SP concerns to the people around them, and how Sexual blinds engage with SX energy in the realm of art and fiction.
But I’ve seen less examples when it comes to Social blinds. Does this instinct get outsourced less often? And when it’s outsourced, what does that look like?

General Question Am I a so-dom or sp-dom? Is it possible to be SO if I'm practically asocial? Help!
It’s been very clear to me for several years now that I’m a 5, and that hasn’t changed for me so far. Throughout my teenage years, I had this desire to create something amazing, strange, and innovative; and the need to be someone. I was terrified of disappearing without having left something in the world that everyone could admire or try to figure out. That was much more pronounced during my teenage years because I was immature and had too many fantasies; and when I came across the description of the social subtype, it fit me like a glove. I identified completely with social 5. I studied A LOT and overthought things for all those years. I still do, but from a more realistic and less dreamy perspective. Studying (although “knowledge” means much more than that to me) made me sick and did me as much harm as good.
Now, setting aside the aspects that identify me with So 5, there are others that don’t quite fit me. In general, with the social instinct. I don’t know if “elitism” manifests in me, because I’ve met cultured people with interests similar to mine, and even so, I couldn’t “click” or connect with them. Nor have I been able to truly commit to any of the “friendships” I’ve had (very few and short-lived). Now I’ve been practically completely alone for several years, and I feel like I’ve given up on trying to build relationships with others. Even though I’ve spent almost my entire life unconsciously waiting for one or more people with whom I could connect. When it comes time to socialize or meet someone, it’s just as if that doesn’t work for me. And I don’t have any social initiative either, or so I think. I think I have a very idealized idea in my head of a human relationship or of a person (too idealized), which seems too unrealistic. But, for example, I feel truly connected to someone who has written a book that moves me in some way, even if that person is already dead. And I'd say those are the only meaningful human connections I really have. Perhaps the fact that they're dead only heightens that somewhat illusory feeling.
However, I’ve never stopped observing others, which is one of the typical traits of a 5. I never tire of analyzing or identifying patterns in and about others or society. And I think that every day, my desire to interact with others fades a little more.
Besides the fact that this was almost a personal reflection, I'd also appreciate it if someone could help me find a worthwhile definition of the social instinct. Are there any? Or is it just because I'm a 5?

General Question can someone explain how "pride" is such a big part of being an E2?
im writing a character for a book and have typed her currently as an E2 (still trying to figure out her instinctual variant, maybe so2)
im struggling to understand how the concept of pride relates to being an e2. What about pride makes it that an e2 is such a helper and wants to give? is it an idea of being prideful in knowing what someone else needs, or being prideful in their capabilities to provide help or something like that? how does pride relate to the fear of being unloved and worthless? how does an e2 learn to fixate on pride after learning that they receive love by being useful?

Instincts is sx more likely to see same sex as competitors ?
tbh, i feel evil to admit it, and i suppress it, but my natural reaction to other women in my age group is that they are competitor
it's not insecurity or anything ive been like this since the moment i was born through all stages of my life
it goes away if i befriend them but i usually don't unless they have something to teach me or ... engage my sx somehow ... or are just in a friend group together
sounds so pick me and cringe to admit :/ not saying i hate other women please don't misunderstand :/

Type Discussion How accurate is Russ Hudson's description of a core 4 in Personality Types?
I was wrestling with my core type for a while, especially since people on here kept typing me as a 9, when I was convinced that I wasn't. I found a copy of Personality Types by Don Riso (not the updated one with Russ Hudson) on the Internet archive, and the section about type 4 was so accurate and stood out to me in a way no other type description ever has. I felt like I was reading a description about me, as clear as looking into a mirror, and everything made so much sense. Has anyone else read that section and if so, how accurate do you think it is to depicting a core 4? I'm quite certain of my being a core 4, but I was curious about others' opinions as well.
Edit: mixed up Riso and Hudson on accident, it's fixed now

I feel like I'm blind to both of them but at the same time they seem to be my second instincts as well. So, how do I differentiate them?

Instincts Could this be an example of sx destructive/creative polarity? 😊
I’m not trying to type her based on this one situation but watching it unfold immediately made me think of sx destructive/creative polarity.
She is a German livestreamer so you probably won’t know her!!
She regularly does these battles on TikTok (HORRIBLE, I know) and had found a group of successful creators to do them with. They were part of the Top 10 and she was growing and growing alongside them. So many views!! So much money. People were finally starting to like and respect her!
But something in her couldn’t continue down that path... she didn’t want to remain inside what had been created...
So she did something extremely destructive. She started a massive drama!! She lied about having a serious illness. She leaked private messages. She was completely dysregulated and at her absolute worst that day!!
But then, the day after the breakdown…
New hair. A sexy fetish outfit. Full-face makeup with red lips. Long fingernails... Black and white. Smoking cigarettes and listening to loud music. Fully awake, fully embodied and completely in the moment!!
There was an energy in her that hadn’t been there before!!
She had destroyed what existed and burned it to ashes... risking everything! Her reputation, her income, her account and all the social standing she had built... then she re-emerged through an entirely new display! Provocative, sexual, energized and alive!!!
Of course, the lying and leaking aren’t "sx" in themselves. Those were harmful forms of acting out. But the willingness to destabilize everything that had become dead to her followed by this sudden reactivation of her sexual display feels like an extreme example of sx destructive/creative polarity.
Something had been destroyed and something new emerged from the ashes.
Whether it is genuine transformation or merely the same old pattern returning in a new form remains to be seen......
How would you interpret this? Does the post-breakdown display look like sx reactivating after her previous path had become lifeless?? Or am I attributing too much of what might simply be dysregulated acting out to sx???

Type Me Tuesday Does this sound like a 7 fix?
So as of now l believe my typing is 4w5 so/sp 471, however I have some questions about the 7 aspect.
I have seen many descriptions of 4s with a 7 fix described as someone who will avoid negative emotions, that I do not relate to, I have always felt all of my emotions very deeply.
In some descriptions of 7 dominants however, I found something I did relate to, which was the idea of imbuing negativity with a positive. My entire life philosophy feels like this, not necessarily trying to convince myself that things are okay, but more accepting suffering as better than boredom and emptiness. I view life through the lens of drama and story, no story can really exist without conflict of some kind. I see suffering as something to experience, understand, and find myself in.
Does this count as positive imbuing if I still generally feel the emotions as they come? Whenever I am crying, no part of me is telling me to reframe it, it's something I just no deep down, so I feel free to feel whatever I feel.
The one exception, as in, the one kind of suffering that I find difficult to handle is any kind that prevents me from acting, like sickness, something not working "the way it's supposed to," due to circumstances (which I feel is my 1 fix), or my brain doing everything to sabatoge my endeavors. Recently this has manifested in me struggling to treat my ADHD which has prevented me from feeling adventurous about life due to adverse effects of the meds.
Does this sound like a 7 fix?

Type Me Tuesday (Type me Tuesday) help me find my subtype
I hate how much I care about how I’m seen by others. At work, school, in my social circles but I’m aware I also vehemently deny how much I care. I don’t want to care. I don’t want to sacrifice my authenticity but I feel this constant push-pull with wanting to be liked and wanting to be seen and recognized but also wanting to be myself and needing to be alone and be invisible. I feel so pathetic with my need to be recognized. I want to be popular but I don’t want to lose myself and I don’t want to lose my privacy. I admire those that don’t seem to care about how the group perceives them and they just live freely. I’m always comparing myself with everyone around me. Feeling both intense hatred and anger but also deep self loathing and wondering why I can’t be like them. I know I can’t no matter how much I work at myself I will never be satisfied with myself so I don’t even fucking bother. I feel like a horrible person for being hateful and envious of the people I love. I always feel like the most hated person in every group. I can feel how much everyone hates me. I’m diagnosed AuDHD so it kind of explains my experiences but i just feel like there’s more to it. Idk what’s wrong with me, but being ND isn’t my whole story.
I don’t relate to the “look how much pain I’m in” so4 description, but I also don’t relate to the competitive and angry sx4, nor the stoic sp4. I never cry in front of others and im bad at talking about my feelings. Maybe it’s because I’m a man. I express myself through art and music to show how I feel but I only share it online so no one irl can see my work and judge me further for it.
I know I’m a 4 so don’t try and type me as something else.
Yessss downvote because god forbid someone is honest about themselves. It ironically proves my point about being hated, misunderstood and being judged. Sorry but I don’t soften my expressions. I’m blunt.

Type Me Tuesday am i actually a 7? [1k word warning]
I’d say i’m having a typology crisis again but i don’t think I ever stopped tbh. I flip flop between 9 and 7 (& sometimes 6 but i keep getting told I’m not a 6) and so I’m trying to settle it and then ignore my doubt about this forever. If you read this all the way, I’ll love you forever and write your name on a rock or smth. Your choice.
Necessary information: I know I still need therapy. I’m diagnosed with depression and social anxiety. I maladaptive daydream ~8-10hrs a day (mdding is NOT something i can control easily btw. Excessive / immersive daydreaming and mdd are NOT the same.) [!!TW!!] I was sporadically sexually abused by my father figure from 13 - 20. I think the reactive and generally unstable energy of my childhood/early adulthood has made me fearful of conflict, and to an extent, other people. I learnt that only my mind was truly safe and reading peoples moods/tones became my best skill.
Bullet point dump of things I think describe me well. Sorry if you've seen some of this before, I compiled a lot of this from comments, posts, and notes I've made.
- I DESPISE apologizing and admitting im wrong. I hate being wrong and view it as an attack on my identity. I tend to believe im the smartest in the room and always right. Of course, there are times when I know damn well im not, like in university, so that doesn't bother me but in general public settings or family settings i absolutely fall into that way of thinking.
- I don't like external things making me feel emotional. I'm ok with me making myself emotional (ex: daydreams) because it's not real. I ignore my feelings by playing with my dog, playing video games, reading, or eating. I don't like to wallow (i do sometimes tho tbh but rarely.) When im sad, ill self sabotage (ill look up things that make me uncomfortable and will get rid of things I like because I like it too much) so I try to avoid that as much as i can.
- I do have issues with binge eating, getting too absorbed in video games, too absorbed in learning things that I end up somewhat neglecting my health, (not getting enough sleep/too much sleep, not cleaning, not showering, and generally being a slob, etc.)
- I act a lot nicer and kinder than i am because people liking me gets me things I want
- Nearly all of my hobbies are for others. I draw because I want to make fanart for peoples fanfics and draw peoples OCs. I learn languages so I can play video games with others and learn about them. I play video games and learn specific skills in order to be more helpful to others. I used to write fanfics when i would see prompts people liked on tumblr, and so on. I crave admiration from others and this is how I get it. I love getting to know people and their likes / dislikes. their hopes, dreams, motivations, etc.
- I am really focused on friend groups and want nothing more than to find myself ‘my’ group (unfortunately i am extremely picky about others and can always find something about someone that’s a deal breaker when i think about forming a legit friendship with them. I get bored of people easily.)
- I desire for a lifelong partner. My potential partners suffer the same as potential friendships, I have an idealized person i want and no one can reach it. I know that all people are flawed but everyone im interested in seems to have a deal breaking flaw about them. The person i want lives in my head and will never exist, but i just cant seem to let go of the hope that they do exist. I am pretty keen on finding 'the one' and have no interest dating around and experiencing a lot of different people and personalities.
- I have strong standards for how social roles / rules should be ‘preformed’. I can be VERY internally critical of others for not adhering to them in the way I believe they should be adhered to. I tend to see those who don’t as attention seeking, impulsive, and generally having antisocial behavior. I tend to give those people as little attention as i can (whilst still being nice to them ofc, I NEVER want to be seen as rude) as to not encourage that behavior.
- I do value social harmony and have a tendency to ‘sacrifice’/diminish myself a bit in order to not cause issues. To an extent at least. I do have trouble saying No to people close to me, but usually with strangers I don’t have much of an issue.
- I have a tad bit of a superiority complex if you can’t tell. I consciously hold myself back from a lot of urges like being greedy, getting rewards from various in-person things, essentially if i could be seen as a kind, sacrificing person then I’ll probably do it. (Only if it's recognized by others though.)
- I have a problem with picking areas to study based on what will get me the most respect (was premed for a while in uni, then comp eng/sci, then electric eng, then psych, then back to microbio, etc).
- I love to make plans sooo much but I think I lack the,,, oomfph to actually act on them (remember me saying I am a self destructive perfectionist? When I was younger before everything happened, I have zero issue doing shit. Now I fear mistakes and failure.) I do heavily lust after money and hate spending. i’ve always been someone my family comes to if they need money. I don’t like asking for help and DO prefer to figure stuff out on my own.
- I do have a tendency to merge with plans / ideas, but not with people. I wouldnt say that I am 'easily swayed or impacted' like Naranjo describes sx7s, but I do think im a very hopeful person that cant stand not being distracted. I dont change my plans very often though, most things I want in life are things ive wanted since i was a kid. I wouldnt consider myself an enthusiastic person, and I wouldn't expect those who know to me describe me that way, but I also wouldn't be too shocked if a few did.
- Im way too daydream-y and have ALWAYS been described as having my head in the clouds. Ill daydream about anything tbh. When im bored, when i want to feel a specific emotion, when i think i want a specific job, when i start to want a relationship, when i get sad about my living situation, ill daydream my ideal life. I do tend to identify with these daydreams and it almost leaves me with a sense of satisfaction as if I was actually doing it. (NOTE: I am talking about regular daydreaming here, NOT maladaptive daydreaming. I don't control that.)
- In person, I don't believe I come off this way, but with professional things, I come off as rude. An example of this was my first university class one semester. The class was in an upperclassman building I was unable to access due to being a freshman. I sent an email to the advisor who was leading the class and (over)explained that I could not access the building and what I did to try, but that i was unable to do so in the end. The next class I was able to attend thankfully, but at the end of it she was talking with some students and mentioned a rude email. I was not the only student who could not access the building, but I am confident she was talking about me. It is not the first time something like that has happened. I want people to have all the information when I am communicating in a professional / academic sense and I have yet to figure out how to do that nicely :/
Alright, end of my wall of bullshit. If you read this all the way through, I really do appreciate you. I'm laying myself bare in hopes someone can point me in the right direction. I tentatively type as ENFP in mbti/cog functions, but I have always seen myself as more of a Fe user over Fi. Could be learned from trauma though. Could also not be. In AP/PY, I type as VELF but I am open to VLEF. Big5, tentatively RLOAI, but I wonder about sloai. I wonder if my people fear makes me think I am more reserved because I think if I were without fear, I would be social over reserved.
