Discussion Poll: Instead of banning fish keeping related questions should we just have a megathread for it?
Currently all aquarium hobby-related questions get removed and redirected to other hobby-focused groups like r/FishTank, but I was thinking it may be a good idea to have a megathread for questions.
Question posts will still be removed but will be redirected to the megathread.

Moderator post regarding the Pleco Torturing videos
Apologies to everyone that had to see the videos and to those that don’t know bots are currently spamming fish-related subreddits with videos of people torturing plecos. These videos are made by an account called “Lab Germ” on TikTok, and from what I’ve seen, it originated from that account.
Why are the bots posting this content here? If I had to guess, the bots are spamming this content in multiple fish-focused communities to karma farm. Unfortunately, this type of content does well on social media, so they think it’s an easy way to get karma on Reddit.
What can I do about it? Please report the posts so we can remove them and make sure to report the account to Reddit, as they can do more than subreddit moderators.
What are the [r/fish](r/fish) moderators doing about this? We are already handing reports and removing them as fast as our small mod team can. I already turned on crowd control to help filter them out, and I plan to also add a karma & account age requirement to post later today.

Sorry for the crappy video quality but I’ve been super excited to see cephalopods in the wild for the first time, even if it involved waking up at 5 AM in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

Fish In The Wild What’s going on with these little fish? Are they sick?
Found in a pond. I was wondering if they’re ill. They seem to have algae or something growing on them

Fish Keeping Could someone help me out and lmk if this is a worm parasite and what treatments actually work
So I left my tanks to my friend to care for when I went on holiday for 2 weeks (gave her all the feeding instructions and physically showed her how to do a water change) came back and she deffo didn’t do any water changes and I think overfed them as well. So now I have a tank of guppies, 4 of them having visable ich which I’ve just run out and got treatment for. But I noticed this little lady has what looks like an internal parasite only when I google it’s showing me a different type of worm and I wanna make sure I get it 100% right for her.
Basically if anyone knows what it is, how to help her and how best to treat her while also treating the ich I’d be very very very grateful
I did have a spare tank for hospital but I’ve ordered 2 albino blue topaz guppies who will arrive in a few days now and I don’t wanna risk damaging them if the spare tank gets infected.
Basically any help whatsoever I’d be really really grateful Thankyou

Fish Appreciation! Angry Albino Oscar
Found this stunning Oscar alongside other albino ones while browsing a local store for a friend's birthday! Felt like a kid in a candy store again, I hope they like it! 🥳
There are no traditional dark tips or spotting anywhere on him, and the eyes are bright red. Wish I could keep him myself, but I would feel guilty 😆

Discussion Wait this was an actual thing?
I thought this was some weird joke but it isn't, it has its own wiki page and everything.
I know people like to treat goldfish like objects and decorations but this seems even more absurd.
People treated it like a competition, seeing who can gulp the most fish in one sitting.
There was even an Intercollegiate Goldfish Gulping Association (IGGA).
Besides the fact that this is insanely cruel, this seems insanely unsanitary.
Identification Is there any fish thats green and purple?
I wanted to know if there's any species of fish thats both green and purple
I was looking through pinterest but I cant trust any of the pictures there because of the influx of AI
i also tried browsing normally, but i couldn't find any fish species names that are green and purple
If you know of any, then please tell me!!!
also do not use AI to try to find an answer for me, please and thank you! Only answer if you yourself have the knowledge from legitimate means. It would be much appreciated :))

Discussion In your opinion, what's the most fish looking fish?
Like what's the most basic looking fish type you can think of. I think we're all familiar with the general/basic fish shape.
