Buddy was working the shop today and gave me $30 off so I jumped on the waza. Everything I’ve read and heard sounds great I tested it in store and liked it time to really dive in. Would love some good settings if you have some to recommend. I hear this thing basically covers distortion, OD, and fuzz obviously depending on settings. Cheers and have a good day!

SOTB I have too many pedals

I’ve been collecting for a good 20 years and lately I’ve been reluctant to sell anything I’ve replaced, so the collection has ballooned to absurd proportions (the second pic is all of my other guitar boards, and I’ve got one more for pedal steel). I pulled out an old board I wasn’t using because it’s really too big to gig with (15” x 30”) and discovered that I left a power supply and a gazillion Ernie Ball flat pedalboard cables, so I built a board out of that and pedals I had lying around unused. I don’t intend to gig with this, it’s more for screwing around at home.

Anyway, it needs more modulation. I want to be able to play as much Pink Floyd as I can with it. What would you add? I’m thinking about maybe some sort of multi-effects pedal like a Boss MD-500 or maybe a Wampler Terraform. Phaser, vibe, flanger, rotary… what else?

Edit: I’m a weak man. Just bought a TC Electronic Tube Pilot (Tune Driver clone) and the Wampler Terraform. So the bonsai will probably be replaced by the new pedals. Bonsai will finally get sold I think. Or stuck back on the shelf, as is my wont.

Is this still useful

Hello everyone I am 59 years old. My kids are grown and I'm bored. I am getting my old equipment back together but I am curious. I love the 80's heavy distortion sound. Is this still a good option for me? I got it when I was 16 years old, so it's quite old. Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

NPD A Matter of Compression

Post image
50 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I'm trying to get a pedalboard back together and I love compressors for adding that little extra sustain and fullness to my playing. I usually play lead with some overdrive or fuzz, not that much cleans.

Any particular reason why I should keep one over the other? I both like the color that the keeley adds and the transparency of the ego76, they're quite different beasts. The keeley is quite bit noisier from what I've tested today.

Signal chain humbuckers --> tuner --> Comp --> big muff ram's head --> Marshall DSL1

SOTB Finished my first ever pedalboard!

Got the EHX Pico Shimmer cosmic reverb and the TCE hypergrav compressor today, wired it up which means my first ever pedal board is complete!

I have named it ‘Blue Glacier’, and it sounds fantastic.

The only thing I’m waiting on is the polytune 3 mini, and in the future I’ll get a better power supply, but that’s it.

In order we have:

TCE HyperGravity Compressor -> BD-2 Waza -> Walrus Audio Julianna Chorus -> TCE Flashback Delay -> Lekato Loop Station -> EHX Pico Shimmer Cosmic Reverb

[Apparently a hot take] If you're a complete beginner you should start with multiFX units, not single effect pedals

I love pedals! We all love pedals here! But if you're a newbie - save yourself some time and money and get a multiFX unit first.

MultiFX will introduce you to different types of effects and help you understand what you like and don't like, what you need and don't need. It's more than possible that you will have zero interest in let's say modulation or maybe fuzz is not your thing. Being able to try different stuff will sort the yays and nays.

Modern modelers do exceptional job at, well, modeling. Even little cheap p.o.s. processors like sonicake or valeton can produce decent sounds, especially if you're a beginner playing in your bedroom.

I had a regular Tumnus for a while and liked it so much I changed it to the Deluxe. These two are very similar but also complement each other beautifully.

Question What's the biggest and most ridiculous pedal collection?

I've tried to curtail my pedals at around 20...Of course, eventually I'll fold and buy more. I know there must be some absolute monster pedal collections that some of you folks have acquired? 🙂 Numbers and photos are appreciated, also any stories from lifelong collectors would be awesome.

Only started with pedals over the last couple of years, kind of addicted to them now...

A little fun with my Diamond collection

Post image
25 Upvotes

This is not my actual board, but I decided to have some fun with my (growing) collection of original Diamond pedals. It’s a shame they didn’t make a reverb so this photo could be complete.

Someday I’ll get a Vibrato or original phase, but I’ll need to save up for those.

Here’s the chain:

Diamond CPR-1 - Diamond EQ Boost 2 - Diamond Marquis - Diamond J Drive - Diamond Tremolo - Diamond Halo Chorus - Diamond Memory Lane Jr - (Not a Diamond) RV6

Question La Grotte

Hey dudes, been really gassing for this reverb pedal, but it’s quite expensive. Does anyone have any experience with it? The idea of a dirty spring reverb is very intriguing to me. Talk me into it, out of it? About $480 brand new.

An effect you fell out of love with?

For me it's definitely reverb. When I was younger my guitar tone always needed to be drenched in reverb. Playing in bands I realized my home reverb tone didn't work and I started using much less. I still always like a touch of amp spring but now use a delay pedal for space. I've had a lot of ambient reverb pedals and they are all gone except for one simple reverb that's for a little extra on top of the barely noticable spring. I still play ambient guitar, but get most of what I need from delays and use reverb as a lighter effect.

The other one for me is big muffs. I love how they sound when other people use them, but they just don't work for my playing and I now have a decent little fuzz collection with 0 muffs.

My tone machine...

Which is also currently somewhat of a noise machine...

I went a bit crazy recently - doubled the size of my pedal collection and built this board. There's a method behind the madness, I play in a band and also have a solo project, which each require different tones, and I only really care to have one board that I can put in a case and take with me.

Currently troubleshooting the fact that there is a bit more noise coming from this board than I was expecting. I suspect some of these patch cables are bit cheap, and need to go through everything one by one to see if there is anything dodgy going on with one or more of them.

I tried my best to wire it up as best I could to avoid any interference, but I don't have a great deal of experience on that front - maybe I made a mistake? I am using two power supplies, maybe not the best case scenario, but its what I had, and as well as keeping them physically seperated, I went to the bother of dedicating one of those supplies to all the pedals I know to be using digital clocking, and dedicating the 500mA outputs to the most power hungry pedals.

If anyone can see something glaringly amateur about the cable management, advice would be appreciated! Could just be the inherent noise floor of the pedals, or naff patch cables, but I will keep checking things and seeing if its cable related or dirty power coming into play.

What I cannot complain about is the versatility of drive sounds I have under my feet now, I typically play with very light overdrive, but in my band I am the lone guitarist playing rhythm and lead parts, so its cool to stack them in different pairs for solos, and make ridiculous sounds with the octave fuzz, bitcrusher and strange delays from the D7

Question Recommend a delay between $50-$100

Upvotes

Exactly what it says. You have $50-$100 to add some thickness to your lead tones, what delay are you getting?
