They always look smudgy or scratch easily. They’ve been in style for SO LONG and I keep waiting for them to fade out just like every other home trend but it’s still everywhere and desired (ex white fridges being seen as cheaper/outdated low class)

I just want to buy a nice white or colorful fridge!!!

Pic 1 is my current bedroom. I really love this lighthouse landscape painting above the headboard and definitely want to keep it. The issue is that the painting kind of sits on the wall without connecting to the decor around it. I used AI to visualize 3 other ops.

We plan to use the large dresser for baby’s clothes, every day items etc and closet will be used for storing things (seasonal gear, baby items that he hasn’t grown into yet, etc) so I don’t plan on needing regular access but the swivel glider is easy to get around or move when needed.

All furniture has been purchased/sizes aren’t flexible so please don’t recommend alternate furniture or getting rid of the changing table (I have had friends suggest only using a dresser with a pad on top but I prefer a dedicated changing table)

I have unfortunately fallen victim to the known issue of hardwood floor damage from the Ruggable 2-piece system. I'm in the market for a new rug and still find myself back at Ruggable because of their designs. Has anyone used their all-in-one rug on a hardwood floor? AI search tells me that the silicone backing should not have the same issue as the original latex pad, but I have trust issues.

Hi everyone! I’m looking for help with types of rugs and where to get them. My dog slips and slides when playing and it’s hurting her hips, so I want to put some rugs down but I’m also looking to make them accents with a pop of color.

I’m thinking it would be fun to have a rug with a funky shape and/or circle to throw down but needs to be something I can wash. I’m including pictures of the space and my poor attempt at a drawing to convey my ideas - plus dog tax.

About 9 days ago, I posted four AI mockups of my unfinished living room, each with a different rug. Before making that post, I had already ordered the fourth rug in the carousel (the Nourison), although I had been going back and forth between that one and the first rug (the Nappa). A lot of people here preferred the Nappa.

The Nourison has now arrived, and I actually really like it in person. It has a subtle taupe/beige pattern that I think works well with the room, especially once my dark walnut coffee table, artwork, lighting, etc. are added.

The one thing making me second-guess it is the thickness. My brother walked in and immediately said it was way too thin and looked like a “Temu rug.” I’m not working with a $2,000-wool-rug budget, so obviously there are going to be compromises, but his comment did make me question whether the thinness makes it look noticeably cheaper.

I could add a good rug pad underneath the Nourison, which should give it more cushioning and substance while keeping the low-profile look I like.

So, purely aesthetically, which would you choose for this room: the Nourison or the Nappa? Does the Nourison actually look cheap because it’s thin, or is that not really an issue visually? And if you prefer the Nappa because it looks more substantial, would adding a rug pad under the Nourison change your opinion?

I've seen lots of posts about TV placement in living rooms; it is now often the main driver of all other furniture and decor decisions.

I've been wondering about what American middle-class living rooms were like before they all had huge TV's in them. I've actually lived through some of those pre-TV years but was too little to remember where everything went. In my earliest memories, the TV "cabinet" is already the focal point of all seating etc.

Was there some other central organizing principle, did all seating just face each other, how did this space get set up before TV took over?

EDIT: Thank you everyone for the comments. I come from a poor country and I know those plastic chairs can last a long time with very little maintenance, and I feel kind of nostalgic about them. So I'm really happy with all the suggestions everyone is giving me to make an environment that doesn't hide, but complement the chairs and make them part of the design. I am so glad for having showed my doubts about it and having received so many ideas on how to make a cozy and good looking patio.

Hi! I'm in Japan and my patio is tiny and exposed to the elements.

I am eyeing these plastic chairs because they are cheap and can withstand rain and sunshine without risk of rusting, while being very easy to wash with a hose (spider webs, dust, and bird poop) and easy to wipe so I can use them right away. They are also comfortable, which is nice.

But I do find them hideous compared to some even cheaper Ikea wood chairs. Is there a way to make them look good? Perhaps combining with plants, or some other decoration?

My patio is surrounded by my living room with large windows, so I want it to look nice since it's part of the living room view.

My husband and I just purchased our first home and I would like to get my dining room table set up for the holidays as we may potentially host Thanksgiving. I’m stuck on what kind of table to put in here. Ideally, I’d like it to seat at least six people. I like more of a modern vibe, but the room is very elegant with the molding and chandelier so I don’t want it to be too modern that it clashes with the overall character of the home. Any ideas where I can purchase a dining table set that is decent quality but not more than $3000? Or any design ideas in general are appreciated. I’ve also included pictures of the living room and kitchen table so you can see what my style is.

My husband thinks the empty space next to the sofa gives the room some breathing room. I keep looking at it and thinking it needs a plant, lamp, or little reading chair.

Bought a home last month that needed some updating. Previous owner was getting ready to put new carpet in after tearing out the old carpet. We told them to leave it out and that we’d put hardwood in instead.
I’ve never laid any kind of floor before but it was a fun learning experience. Wife’s family really helped out with tearing out the old subfloor and then I went in and out the new floor down.
I work full time so I was just doing little bits here and there before and after my work shifts. Took a few weeks in the end from picture 1 to the finale.
We still have 2 more bedrooms to finish, but we’re very pleased with how it turned out!

Unsure how to utilize these as best as possible for a wardrobe/desk area

I have just rented a new place and struggling to know what furniture to place here, the second pic is an AI mock up but I feel it looks too clunky? I wonder if a tall shelving unit (perhaps Billy bookcase type) could look more appealing.

To be clear I do not want a rainbow COLORED bathroom, I want it to be themed rainbows. As in the natural phenomena of rainbows. Not everything in the space being rainbow, more like rain clouds and rain themed stuff as well as rainbow stuff.
