Discussion A reminder Parriston was lying and he is by no means weak

I see people to this day call Parriston weak and some even theorize that he has no nen at all, this always comes from that dialogue where he says he is weaker than the rest of the Zodiacs.

This was obviously a lie or an exaggeration to manipulate the elections, Parriston later in the story say the opposite to Ging and in that case he had no reason to lie.

Lets not forget this guy is in the group of the strongest hunters and is one of the only 3 star hunters in the world.

Discussion Assuming we live long enough. Do you think after the current Manga arc will get its own anime once it ends? Spoiler

Upvotes

I'm just curious to see what people think. Because currently there's about 80 chapters of un-adapted material. And considering what I've heard people say about its length, we aren't even ¾ into the arc yet.

So, once it (hopefully) one day finishes. Do you think it will get an anime of it own? Like how Bleach did it with TYBW.

Or Would it just continue the original HXH anime and go to episode 149?

And finally.

If for some reason the anime were to do its own thing to give an original ending assuming the manga could not. Would you be alright with that? If so, how many episodes further do you think the arc would need to go to be satisfying in any way?

Hey everyone, I made a small website (open source) that tracks the current status of hxh including publishing chapters, Togashi's progress etc

The website : hxhstatus.com
The repository : https://github.com/nassim-arifette/hxh-status

Feedback and suggestions are welcome. If anyone would like to help translate the website into arabic, japanese, or another language, that would be great too!

Discussion Gon's Rage was extremely well-written.

Upvotes

Background: As a child I watched the Hunter x Hunter 1999 anime through daily TV Broadcast.
Since the old anime ended at Greed Island Arc I decided to continue watching from Chimera Ant arc. Seeing Gon succumbing to his dark emotions was just like watching a childhood friend go down a dark path and you can do nothing to convince him to stop. I was afraid that he would kill Komugi right there just to spite Pitou.

Analysis/Theory Did the Phantom Troupe really massacred the Kurta?

For starters, I am pretty new to the series... watched the whole anime and tried to get some parts of the succession war arc through reviews... please don't be too harsh if I am wrong (I know I may be overreaching on many of this)... just let me know... also forgive me for being all over the place...

.

After the Sarasa backstory, the Kurta Massacre seems so impossible for them... not to mention the other odd contradictions like why do they even need the eyes in the first place... we see they earn a lot already via Kortopi's Gallery Fakes... I think the scene of Hisoka not knowing Kortopi's nen ability when he told Kurapika about the Troupe selling the things they stole not long after is eluding to it... They're against the mafia considering thats the whole point of Yorknew, now with context of the Sarasa Backstory, it could be their way of getting back on the mafia groups who kidnaps and traffics people from Meteor City... So I really don't see any benefits on making the something valuable like the scarlet eyes circulate around the mafia. Plus if they really wanna use the scarlet eyes to sell, then they just need one pair and then Kortopi could just make a fake they can sell... (I guess you can argue that Kortopi probably didn't join until after, but I don't think that was confirmed either... so who knows)

.

Also I think they revealed Sarasa's kidnappers were murdered 10 years ago and that nobody knows who could the culprit be... now this contradicts two things;

1. Chrollo is currently 28, so 10 years means he was 18... but the Kurta massacre was when he was 21... so people saying its to bribe someone for information on Sarasa's murderers makes no sense... (Could be for a different mission? Who knows...)

2. They didn't leave a note that atleast could pin that the culprits are from Meteor City... for someone who stole one of their personal friends, leaving a note there would've been the most obvious...

.

Also! Also... they revealed Carne Levare... a tradition of the Kakin that takes over a randomly picked village to indulge in horrific ways... (Coincidence? I think NOT!! Hehe sorry, had to...)

.

They even have Tserriednich who has the so many Kurta eyes in his possession and has what seems to be Pairo's head... He's even connected to the Hai-ly family... a mafia group...

.

Like I will still say they definitely aren't innocent... even had confirmed a run-in with a Kurta that lead to a fight... but given Uvo's memory of the incident being foggy, it contradicts the note that implies its an act of revenge. He doesn't even give any reaction that implies it was for vengence...

.

Speaking of Uvo, his conversation with Chrollo about a Judas in the group kinda debunks that the Kurta Massacre was for the status of being feared... Uvo said he knows no one within the group that wants money, fame nor status...

.

All of this feels like hints that maybe the Phantom Troupe was not the main culprits... My guess, the Kakin (or the Hai-ly) somehow tricked them into disarming the Kurtas for the Carne Levare... something Tserriednich would definitely attending for their scarlet eyes... tho how it leads to all of this is speculative...

Discussion Do you see Kurapika ever fighting one of the princes to the death? Other than Tserriednich

Post image

We rarely talk about which characters will pull the trigger on some older princes, we assume that Benjamin, Morena and Kaisen will be the ones doing it

But realistically it'll probably be up to guards like Bisky, Izunavi and Kurapika, just like how Melody is more than okay smoking Luzurus on a thursday afternoon.

My ideal (and cruel) scenario is that the war continues for a while and Kurapika's truce with Zhang Lei stops looking promising, so the moment he starts thinking about killing Woble, Kurapika just appears where he's at and kills him. He hasn't had to kill anyone for so long, I think this would be the moment things turn around for him

Help/Question Does the Palace Invasion arc get better?

The internal monologues and the narrators constant interruptions is really kicking my ass. I'm contemplating dropping the whole show at this point

I'm on 116.

I think the Gon and Pitou fight is just starting.

It really sucks because I was really enjoying the ant chimera arc. The chimera ants are sick af

Meruem had such a great character development. Just finished epi 134 where he recalls his more important piece of memories.

Absolutely on point character development. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Am so glad that I picked this anime up to watch after such long contemplation, totally worth it.

Analysis/Theory Let’s talk about this Spoiler

Post image

Something has been different with Theta since she got marked.

My guess is that it has something to do with tserri’s love of toying with people. The mark is giving Theta, Tserri’s plaything, some sort of way to see into the “ephemeral ten seconds”

It might even be that she can see everything happen and can’t do or say anything about it, as that would be the type of twisted thing Tserri’s nen beast would want.

Possibly it’s even wiped from her memory in some way.

Togashi wouldn’t just make this panel with no reason, that’s one thing i know for certain.

Analysis/Theory Specialist × Specialist: Some Speculations About Emperor Time

Post image
7 Upvotes

As far as we know now, Specialists can create:

  1. Abilities with effects that don't fit into any other Nen category.
  2. Abilities that require mastery in multiple Nen categories.

The second point has raised a lot of discussion about Kurapika's Emperor Time. The ability consists of giving the user 100% efficiency in all Nen categories. However, from what we know, a regular Specialist should naturally have 100% efficiency in all Nen categories they train in.

My current conclusion on this topic is:

Even when Kurapika turns his eyes red and becomes a Specialist, his efficiency remains the same as when he is a regular Conjurer. However, in this state, he is capable of manifesting powers that don't necessarily fit into any other category, and this is where Emperor Time fits.

Later, this made me think about the cases of Manipulators and Conjurers who become Specialists later in life. This is purely speculative, but I have a suspicion that turning into a Specialist doesn't mean that a Nen user will instantly be granted the 100% efficiency potencial that a natural-born Specialist possesses. Insteaf, they would just be able to manifest unique effects that no longer fit within the conventional Nen categories.

In other words, becoming a Specialist may grant access to the category itself, but not necessarily the same innate efficiency that a natural-born Specialist has across the Nen system.

Analysis/Theory My Tonpa theory that didn’t pan out.

Watching the show, I thought Tonpa was going to be forced to pass the exam and therefore be locked out of crushing rookies. It would be the ultimate punishment.

(Unless of course he becomes an examiner)

Help/Question Why does Illumi want Nanika's ability?

Like, what could she get him that he doesn't already have or get for himself? He's wealthy, more powerful then 99% of the HxH universe, and as a Manipulator can just stick a pin in someone to rule a kingdom or something. The only thing that is outside of his scope is if someone he loved died (maybe his family?) and he wanted to bring them back but even then I don't believe Illumi would be that obsessive considering the state of work in his business and just bringing someone back from the dead seems like a narrow use of her powers (especially since we now know Nanika has limits. If for some instance the Zoldyck family were caught in the radius of a Poor Man Rose, she would be unable to heal them all. Plus if Killua died Nanika could just refuse to obey anyone else).
