New Rule: No AI-Generated Content

Hi /r/Mazda,

Over the years, we’ve had many AI-Generated posts submitted to the subreddit and while the conversations can be engaging around what a car or concept COULD look like, the damage done to our environment is not worth it.

We’d like to encourage users to submit real-life images, real mockups, real concepts and have real interactions with each other around this type of content but cannot support low effort, AI-generated slop.

Going forward, users who post AI-generated images will have their posts removed and will receive a warning. Further AI slop will result in a temporary ban, up to a permanent ban.

Physical buttons or touchscreen only?

Do you prefer/want/need to have physical buttons in your Mazda for basic features such as the AC, or you'll be fine with a touchscreen only?

There's no option for poll, so just type one of the two:

  1. "Physical buttons"
  2. "Touchscreen"

Probably the closest thing to a brand new car Ill ever buy, only 16 000km.

Usually I look at older models to find the right combination of what Im looking for, but these finally came in the right price range and I couldnt pass on that one.

Mazda cx5 or other recommendations

I was interested in getting a Mazda cx5 because it seems like a perfect suv to own. My only issue is that I heard the second row isn’t too spacious and that these cars “melt”?? I’m from tx so I really need a spacious suv under 50k that’s going to hold up. Any recommendations?

How long will it be till I stop doing this?

Why is the old Mazda infotainment system so slow?

The infotainment in my 2021 6 is so terribly slow it takes a minute or two to boot up and detect android auto. Sometimes when it detects I have to press play 6-10 times on my phone before I get any sound or I have to unplug it and plug it back in. Cable is an anker powerline 2 USB 3.1 Gen 2.

I recently rented a 2021 Honda CRV and it detected and played android auto from the same phone in a few seconds, different cable though.

2023 Cx-5 infotainment help

I have a couple of issues currently and Mazda customer support is no help:

  1. When Spotify is connected via Bluetooth, it will not stay connected. For example, if I go home and text someone then get in my car again, I have to go to my phone and open Spotify to get it to play again.

  2. Because of this issue, I took it to the dealership where they reset it to factory settings. Since then, my car will no longer update without a subscription and Spotify will not play at all via CarPlay. Before the factory reset, I had no problems with either of these things.

I’ve tried a brand new Apple cord, that is NOT the issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

Here’s my very first Mazda

Let me first say I’ve always been a Honda guy. I’ve had 7 Hondas, to put it precisely. I wanted to get another for my next vehicle, but one day at work we got a rental, and it was a 2024 Mazda3 Sport hatch, and oh my god, was I geeking over it. I mean, that trash transmission wasn’t pleasant, but everything else about it had me giggling like a little girl every time I got in it.
Then I started dating someone who has an ’08 Mazda6, and I drive it sometimes, and I began to think that maybe Mazdas aren’t that bad. I mean, I’ve always wanted a Miata, but who hasn’t wanted one of those micro drift monsters? But I started feeling something for Mazda.
A few months go by, and my Civic started to not be doing so good. She’s seen a lot of road, reaching 260k, and it began to look like I didn’t have much longer with her. I didn’t want to kill my Civic, but I wanted to retire her and just take time to fix the things that needed to be fixed without putting more miles on her.
Everything changed when the condenser fan hit the radiator and the rear main seal started leaking. I knew I would need to find something within a day or two since I drive about 800 miles a week.
I looked on Facebook, and of course it was showing me nothing but Hondas and Mazdas, and I had to make a choice. I wasn’t looking for anything special, just something decent, not bad on gas, and well maintained.
That’s when I found this beauty.
Say hello to my first Mazda, the 2006 Mazda3i, coming in with the manual transmission and an aftermarket sunroof of all things. She’s had two owners. The first one had her until 2025. She’s been maintained, taken care of, and garage kept her whole life. He stopped driving her because he decided to rack up a bunch of DUIs and couldn’t. So in 2020, she was garaged until 2025. Then an older man bought her and drove her to church and the grocery store. His truck broke down, and he needed another for work and decided to part ways.
That’s where I came in and am now the new proud owner.
There are only two issues wrong with her, and I am 100% sure you all can’t guess. 👀 The engine mounts are bad, and the fuel pump is weak on start. That’s it!
Still looking for a Mazda Discord. I don’t really jump on Reddit that much, so let me know!
The only thing I’ve done is update all the bulbs with LEDs, I got rid of the god awful radio, and swapped out the oem shift knob.

2021 CX5 CHMSL Replacement Video?

Does anybody have a video walking through the replacement of the Center high mount stop light? I swear there does not exist a single video for it. I know there exists reading guides but I’d prefer a video if possible. My lens has somehow cracked and you have to replace the whole unit to fix it. Wondering if it’s a moderately easy replacement or if I should just shell out the $300 to have a local dealership do it. Thanks

Should I change the oil myself on a ‘23 CX-9 or take it to a shop?

I’m handy. I enjoy wrenching on my older vehicles and generally do my own maintenance. This being a ‘23 tho, should I do it myself? Is there any reason I cant or anything to look out for? Looking for some guidance. Thanks in advance.

New Miata - paint defect?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Just had some PPF put on the front end of my new 2026 Miata, and the detailer pointed out this paint defect on the trunk lid.

Is this something that Mazda would cover under warranty? Under 300 mi on the car, bought it about a month ago. Thanks!

Cost of physical buttons

I have the feeling that all new cars have only touchscreens and fewer physical buttons.

Do you think it costs less to produce touchscreens (even if they are massive) than a smaller screen with buttons like in our Mazda?
