• Getting into the WNBA’s business and being transphobic? In tennis, that’s called a double fault.
• On Sunday, tennis icon Martina Navratilova — whose descent into the anti-trans movement has rapidly escalated since she first publicly opposed trans women in sports in 2019 — helped spread the rumor that the WNBA is purposefully harboring and hiding a transgender player. That conspiracy theory appears to have been introduced into the increasingly toxic discourse around the WNBA by Yankees minority owner Patrick Bet-David.

Navratilova quoted a social media post on X on Sunday night from New York-based comedian MJ Murphy, who wrote, “We cannot and do not know if the WNBA has any biological males playing.” In response to the original post, Navratilova wrote, “Exactly. And that’s on purpose, most likely…”

• At 9:00 am the upright and flightless Indian Runner ducks charge out of their pens on a farm near the Stellenbosch wine-producing area outside Cape Town and head to work.
• After a rapid but brief forage for aphids, worms and snails near the homestead and restaurant, they move into the vineyards for the rest of the day.
• "Using the ducks instead of pesticides is obviously better for the ecology," said Vergenoegd Low Wine Estate and farm manager, Christiaan Cloete.
• "When you use chemicals, you sometimes kill a lot of beneficial insects. We are trying to create a more biodiverse ecology in the vineyards," Cloete told AFP.

• A popular roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain has been closed since July 12 after two riders suffered similar brain hemorrhages.
• According to a CNN investigation, two women who rode the X2 coaster six days apart both lost consciousness and ended up in surgery with similar brain hemorrhages of a type that’s “typically associated with high-speed collisions.”
• Three neurosurgeons who treated the women declared in an email, “the severe brain injuries requiring emergent neurosurgical attention were the result of a traumatic rapid acceleration-deceleration event experienced while on the X2 ride.”
