Question Accommodations with floor-to-ceiling windows?

Planning a birthday trip for my wife in late November and she absolutely loves places with floor-to-ceiling windows, especially if there's a great view from them. Any recs? We live in Edinburgh and any location that's, at most, a 3 hour drive away would be brilliant

personal note: Why I’m stepping back from DVS Cinematography for a while

I started my community at r/ScotlandFromAbove to share the beauty of Scotland from above, and I’ve been blown away by the support and the content you’ve all started sharing. and thank you to r/Scotland. It’s been a dream to build this, but I need to be completely honest with you all.

For the past 19 years, I’ve been battling severe health issues, including Type 1 Diabetes and the physical limitations that come with it. I’ve been trying to hustle and build this business over the last few months to prove to myself that I could still achieve something, but I’ve hit a wall. My body is telling me that I can no longer keep up this pace.

I’m currently at a point where I need to step back from content creation and business development to focus entirely on my health and recovery. I’m not sure how long this break will be, but I have to prioritize my survival over my screen.

Thank you to everyone who joined, posted, and supported this project. It means the world to me. I hope to be back when I’m in a better place, but for now, I’m signing off to take care of myself.

Question Any castles where you can wear medieval armour? Asking for a proposal

Hi Scotland (yes every single one of you) I need your help!

My partner and I (29F, 31M, Canadians) are there late Sept to early October and I'm planning to propose, but I had a fun idea on how to do it:

The basics of my idea was to have a photoshoot at a castle wearing medieval outfits and propose during it. I've seen a few photos of similar photoshoots, but I really want to be wearing medieval armour in it (bonus points if I could have a sword for it lol). To throw her off the scent, I was even thinking of telling her that we won the photoshoot.

We're both big medieval/history fans and love lord of the rings. Plus, both she and I have Scottish heritage, (my grandma came over to Canada at 18 from Glasgow), so it felt fitting to pop the big Q over here.

If anyone knows where I could do something like that any info would be appreciated. Also if any historic sites or business see this, as a marketer myself I'd say if you could help, you could use the pics for marketing for free!

Thanks in advance all!

Music Recommendations for songs to audition with for a Scottish music night?

Next week I’ll be auditioning to take part in a music night with a theme around Scottish artists (any style of music). What would people suggest as songs they’d wanna hear for this type of thing? Ideally I’d wanna go with something on the fast side with energy, maybe even stuff leaning towards rock or jazz, but I thought it’d be fun to see what others suggest - it could tell me what people would be expecting to hear or would wanna hear. I’m a woman with a mid-high voice, and I’d be singing.

Missing polaroids

Hey this is definitely a long shot, but I got home from a trip to Scotland/Iceland last month and realized I had lost several instax mini polaroid photos from our travels. They were one of my favorite souvenirs, so would love to know if anyone sees them along their travels! They would have a colorful or confetti border. Message me if you think you see them, I would love to be reunited!

Is Going to University After S5 a Sensible Option?

Hi! I’m 16 and currently in S5, and I’m considering leaving school after S5 and going straight to university rather than staying on for S6. I’d be 17 when I started uni. My mother is heavily against the idea, however I have a few extended family members who are in favour.

I’m mainly interested in applying for Maths at Edinburgh, Glasgow and St Andrews. In S4 I got 7 As at National 5 and 1 A at Higher, and I’m fairly confident I could meet the 5 As required for the courses, especially as I already have one. I got full marks in my National 5 Maths exam, although I don’t have loads of Maths-related supercurriculars (I never did UKMT, for example). I have done a one-week engineering course at Strathclyde and generally just really enjoy Maths.

Medicine is the dream, but I’m unsure if I can go down that route. Most of my friends are leaving after S5, and I also have mild cerebral palsy, so I’m currently contacting medical schools to find out whether that would cause any issues with applying/going into medicine. I’m also considering applying for Maths and then deciding later whether to accept, defer or reject the offer depending on how things look with Medicine and potentially my UCAT.

I want to know if I'd even have a chance of getting a conditional, and whether there would be any massive drawback to going to Uni at 17. From my perspective, plenty of people who are young forv their year do it after S6 anyway, and I don't plan on drinking.

YouTube I made a short film in Millport and I thought some of you might recognise the locations

I made a short film set entirely in Millport and thought some people here might enjoy it, especially anyone who knows the island.

A lot of the locations will probably be familiar to people who have spent time there, so I’m curious to see if anyone recognises them.

It’s 15 minutes long and the whole thing was filmed around Millport.

Would be interested to know if anyone spots where the different scenes were filmed?
