Disbanded Feat left behind

I have new models and formations, so I disbanded everyone from my OHQ, however there seems to be left over feats that I gained along their time serving.

I am not sure how I am supposed to go about transitioning from an OHQ I don't need anymore to one with new formations and models when upgrading is greyed out.

Can I transfer these feats somehow?

Private Scavenging on Archaeological Site

If there is a private scavenging mine on a ruin that has an archaeological site, will artifacts be obtained?

Or do we have to make the mine a public mine to get the special artifacts?

My Tech Needs to Materialize onto the Physical Plane

I keep getting messages that I researched this or that. Some of them military research like better armor or guns, some of them from my applied science guy about more abstract things like Getting metal from lithosphere.

I don't see how to get either to a state where I am using them.

I do understand the model design slot allows me to choose a gun and armor, etc, for a particular unit type. Like I can make a green bus with a medium engine and light armor.

However, when I go to raise formation for a light infantry brigage it shows 190 haulers, which is my old model in addition to 180 main transport which is the newest model and 180 green bus which was the last model. Same for the infantry part of it... 2800 GIs and 2700 "Grunts"

Then I go to look for an asset that gets me metal from the lithosphere, because that sounds awesome, but I don't see one on the construction menu.

I must be missing some things.

I do have a person in...staff council I think.. that gives me an opportunity to customize oob, but that just seems to allow me to add a type to an existing formation, like adding artillery to my infantry formation. He had other popups, but not sure what any of them do really.

Anyone fancy taking a look at my old save and telling me how badly I've messed things up?

I have a bit of a recurring Shadow Empire problem.

I'll start a game, get really into it, play for a while, then for whatever reason I won't touch it for a few months. By the time I come back I've forgotten half of what I was doing, why I was doing it, what I was planning next, etc. Then I get the urge to just start a new game so I can understand everything again.

I've done this far too many times, so I'm determined to actually carry on with this save rather than starting another one.

I thought it might be fun to upload the save and see if any more experienced players fancy having a look through it and telling me what they think.

Basically, what's the state of my empire?

Is my economy/logistics in decent shape? Have I built my military sensibly? Am I making any really obvious mistakes? Is there anything I should be worried about that I might not even realise is a problem? And if this was your save, what would you be concentrating on over the next few turns?

I'm not really looking for a step-by-step guide or to have someone play the game for me. I'd just really like an experienced pair of eyes on it to help me figure out where I am and what Past Me was apparently trying to achieve.

Also, please feel free to tell me if I've done something stupid. I'm still very much learning the game!

Save is here: SAVE_FILE

Would you carry on with this one?

Maybe since the game covers just about everything, but im surprised there isnt a robust modding community. Maybe this will force me to take learning programming and the like seriously. Besides flavor stuff, ie 40k conversion, any ideas on what yall hoped to see?

In depth missile armrace in the military DLC?

I was thinking how I'd like to see implemented some sort of counter to missile and nuclear missiles.

It would be nice to have to deploy Sam sites to defend from ballistic missiles, even behind your lines, cruise missiles or even some sort of nuclear interceptions.

3 Unit Feats

An AI Minor Regime's unit has 3 unit feats,

-1 Veteran Captain

-2 Veteran Lieutenant

-1 Veteran Sergeant

I believe the standard maximum is 2 unit feats per unit. Why does this particular unit have 3?

Finally, after 284 turns. Also: illustration doesn't even show power armor, universal for last 15 yrs. Literally unplayable.

First game I completed, terran map. Tried some others but those 300 hp 1k strong herds of dinosaurs with 'absorption III' kind of made me reconsider. I think I'll play that next, or maybe some life-heavy drier map.

Lucky start, joined up with 2 farmer minors within 10 turns. Seems like the big AI nations did likewise as they were simply too large. Also found a cloning device early on, which is really quite strong. Initially it was giving 2k population, by game end 5k. Probably got 600k population out of it, at least, out of 3.2 million.

Also - benefitted from some sort of wealth-related bug. I dropped taxes to almost zero, but somehow the aristocracy passed extra-strong wealth taxes on each other and funded 3/4 of the budget by themselves and somehow their wealth wasn't shrinking?. Talk about noblesse oblige. One mistake I did was likely putting worker salaries way too high.

Never had war declared on me - I got 'diplomatic sanctuary' early on and I guess AI whose economy sucks correctly accounted for the tech military disparity as though some of them had 50% of population under arms, and 2-3x bigger armies, they never attacked.

I guess the big lesson is that logistics is what matters, so it's all down to the economy.

Can't colonize because logistic points

When I try to colonize my city to the north with that hex selected, it tells me I don't have 5 logistic points and cannot colonize. But the "current" button for logistics says I have 354.

I am not 100% sure I understand logistics and the different views, but what's going on here? I can never seem to use colonists.

Baby's First Game

Played my first game on small map, partial fog, planet had all the resources I needed, beginner settings.

I got my leadership straight, had 90-100 loyalty on everyone, 100 happy populace, somewhat happy workers, expanded to a second zone taking over a minor.

I had put a major right next to me, and the map only had the one, so we went to war early. No military research for either of us yet really. Maybe we had an enviro suit.

So I pushed to his capital with my infantry, made a second ohq and five more infantry "regimants?"

Problem is, he kept multiplying his forces throughout the war as I was killing them off. His initial 10 regiments became 20 and then 40.... and his territory kept expanding too. I don't know where he was getting all these recruits from!

On my end, I burned through my recruitment pool. I raised the wages, but could not keep up.

It felt bad, because I am left with the question, "What could I have done different?" and I don't know. So...what could I have done different?

Turn 1 Cap V

If you are on turn 1 and happened to roll up a cap V leader who is 18 years old, with maxed INT what would you put him in charge of?

I'd stacked up 1.2 million ammo and kind of forgot to worry about it.
Time to take out the mothballs I guess.

Volunteerism effect on Militia

Hello Shadow Empire community! For the Fist profile, the first Regime Effect is "Volunteerism". This effect gives you a chance of getting militia every round, the chance gets lower as the game progresses but the size increases (from Battalion to Division).

Is this effect totally separate from the standard militia raised?
Or is it a bonus on top of the standard militia recruitment?

I am guessing it is separate.

Information not updated?

I believe the answer is "Yes" but I want to confirm. Do you notice lots of information in game is outdated? For example, the "Hero of the Nation" card has the following written, "

"Increase selected Leaders Charisma Stat with +10".

However I am experiencing only a +5 increase. So maybe this card was nerfed/adjusted but the text was never updated.

I am seeing lots of minor differences like this.

Game is on "regular" difficulty.

How to use GR tech?

Post image

With Stratagem cards like "GR Optics" and "GR Coating", how do we use them?
Is spending the 3 FP all that is needed? If yes, how can we verify it is working and applying to the units?

Thank you, this group has been very helpful in teaching me the game.

What is Desired Relation?

Here is a report,
-REP.
-REGIMES
-Junotown Federation Overview

There is a "Relation" = 36. Then there is a "Desired Relation" = 40. What is the "Desired Relation"?

The word "Desired Relation" is not in the game manual.

Some of my leaders always look like this (or even more mismatched). Does this happen to everyone? Is there a fix?

Launcher Optimization

Quick question, but does the launcher optimization linear technology apply strictly to guided missile launchers, or also to the more primitive rocket trucks? Payload optimization mentions in its description that it improves both missiles and rockets, but this technology doesn't.

Can i change the look of my Infantry?

I was wondering if there is an option to change the skin of my Infantry, other Major Regimes have really cool Sprites, but i didn´t find an option to change your own Type.
Is there an option i missed or could this only be achieved with mods?

edit:

This is the kind of diffrent sprites im talking about not gear itself

AI Speed Setting

Post image
29 Upvotes

Under "Preferences" there is a setting called "AI Speed". I want to make sure I understand the game manual, please inform me if I understand this correctly.

"Very Slow AI Processing" is the slowest setting because it gives the AI the most time to think? So the game would be more difficult considering the AI will make better moves.

The manual states "Very Slow AI Processing" is "optimal turn processing speed". This makes it sound like the Very Slow setting makes the turns faster. I am guessing the manual meant to say it is optimal thinking for the AI.

Please clarify the setting, make sure I am understanding it correctly.
Any other comments on the setting? Do you like to change it?

I built a modding tool for shadow empire (Alpha Release!)

Thumbnail

EDIT: I updated the README to explain the various editors and screens in the GUI, to better show what is possible and how things work.

Hi all,

a couple months ago I posted a few images of a mod builder I've been working on, and today I am releasing the alpha version. The mod builder is all open source! I'm super excited to release, also nervous. Everything has been tested and working on my machine, but now we will see how well this works for others! My hope is it works great for everyone, but I'm certain there will be issues. and part of the reason why this is alpha, is not all planned features are in yet, and there's probably plenty of bugs. This is where I need your help!

This was built using claude code and open code, using anthropics models(opus, sonnet, haiku, very rarely fable), gpt 5.6 (sol and luna mostly), and Zai GLM (4.7, 5.1, 5.2), among others (including local ones)

It builds the se1zip (mod) files and you can import them in. It allows you to browse game data and build tables, and has special views for certain tables for a WYSIWYG style editing. It has functionality like most common editor programs have (like UI zoom(increase / decrease UI size for accessibility), undo/redo, projects, resizable windows, tiling, themes, and layouts, inspector tools, etc)

The builder requires you have shadow empire installed to work.

What you can do: - Edit and view all data tables - Add graphics for your mods - Contribute to the open source project - Build mods as se1zip files and distribute them, other players can easily load your mods without having to do anything special like copy graphics files etc. simply just import your se1zip file (which unpacks graphics if they are used) - Use the advanced editors for hex perks, strategems, and events (stories)

There's a lot more planned, but I think it's a good time to pause and get feedback!

Any tips on Artillery?

I tried to find something about it in the manual but it doesn't help with basic functionality. I select an artillery unit, select ranged attack mode from the order-menu –– but then what? I tried right and left clicking on another hex field that was 1 hex away, assuming it would work like in other 4X Games where ranged units can attack fields that they not share a direct border with.

Are artillery units are used just like other units, so they have to be adjacent to the attacked hex in order to add them to the combat? But what does the order "ranged attack" do then?

You can just point me to the page in the manual that describes it. I couldn't find it there with search function, nor in the detailed combat section.

Thanks!

Noob design question

Hey team,

Just wondering under which circumstances in regard to model design where one would :

- build something from scratch / not build on top of an existing model

- not max out everything in regards to engine size and armour, etc..(weight)

I figure there are subtleties with a lighter tank or a more fuel efficienct buggy and movement and such, but im not quite there yet.

My pea brain just set everything to max and wonders why not.
