The Canadian women dominate, winning both the NORCECA Continental Championships and the separate Olympic qualifying tournament featuring the top 4 teams minus the United States. Led by MVP Kacey Jost (sister of NHLer Tyson), Canada didn’t lose a single match, dispatching host Dominican Republic in four sets today (25-15, 20-25, 25-23, 25-14). This is the first time Canada has qualified for women's indoor volleyball since Atlanta 1996.

By beating Mexico 83-53, Canada qualifies for the final Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in 2028. The team was the highest ranked country to not qualify for the upcoming FIBA World Cup in Germany, but now will be among 16 nations competing for 11 Olympic spots from February 10-13, 2028. Michigan Wolverines star Syla Swords led the team in scoring with 14.8 points/game and shooting 47% from three. Canada won all five games by an average margin of 20 points.

For any of you Olympics sickos Canada’s women are up 13-0 and 20 minutes away from being the first (non-US) team to ever qualify for the Olympic Flag Football tournament in 2028.

Tip-off at around 10 pm EST. Canada continues to grow more consistent on the world stage; last summer, the U16s were Americup runners-up to the Americans. Wish them luck.
