Just watched another video posted here about Powell’s Long Jump record and it made me think how common is this?
Not just track and field, but other events too.

When Powell set the world record of 8.95m in 1991, Carl Lewis also jumped 8.91m just before him (but was wind assisted, so it didn’t could as WR) but it got me thinking that there must be cases where someone breaks a WR and then loses it in the same meeting to someone else.
Ideas?

Also might interesting in races/events where the winner sets the WR and the lower place finishers beat the OLD WR (Eg World Champs in 1991 when Carl Lewis and Luther Burrell both beat the old WR time in the 100m final).

Curious for those who attended World Cup soccer games in the USA in 2026. Were face value tickets cheaper than Olympic tickets? Looking for comparisons of team sports in large venues. And was the markup for World Cup insanely high like we're seeing for Olympic tickets now? Asking this to see what we can expect for resale Olympic ticket prices for soccer, baseball, basketball, track etc.

It's hard to tell from the photos, but the text and Deutsche Grammophon logo on the front cover are metallic gold and a different, shinier texture. A nice touch for a stunning product!

Ever since Jimmy Conners, grunting has been normal in tennis. I can understand why tennis players grunt. Even I grunt when I play tennis, but in recent history we have seen the grunting going too far in tennis. From Maria Sharapova to Michelle Larcher de Brito, we have been hearing grunting which is going too far. I feel that the Olympic tennis competition should have a certain level of decorum since it is the Olympics after all. I don't think you can ban grunting, but I think there should be rules against these excessive grunts that often sound like the cry of a Yorkshire terrier.

Should the Olympic tennis competition have rules established to regulate grunting? And if so, how can I be done?

I just read that LA '28 organizers are expecting between 3 and 5 million unique visitors to travel to the Olympics. Greater LA is home to >18M residents. We've heard there are about 14M tickets for both the Olympics and Paralympics.

Holy smokes ... every event is going to be a hot ticket. Just not enough tickets to go around. Not even close.
