Hair stylist recs for Latina hair

Hi! My family just moved to MN (Eden Prairie area) from a pretty dry state. My mom is from South America and I have her hair genetics so we experience a lot of frizzy/wavy and unpredictable hair changes in the humidity out here. My brother also has really thick/wavy hair. I was hoping to see if anyone had any recommendations for hair stylists who were Latino or had experience dealing with this kind of hair (everyone we had went to previously treated our hair like it was consistently pin straight). I think we are looking mainly to put trust in our stylist to do whatever they think would fit best with our texture, and give us advice on how to best take care/style our hair.

BIPOC/LGBTQ/Women-owned wedding vendors?

Hello Twin Cities! My partner and I got married in a courthouse on Halloween of 2025 and are starting to plan our wedding party for next October (late, yes - I was laid off for six months and we needed to get back on our feet!). We're hoping to aim for October 30th and are planning on a masquerade theme with that timing so it should be a fun time for all.

I really want to support as many minority-owned businesses as possible throughout the process - if you know of one or want to share your business below please do! We have nothing booked yet and are just starting to explore the options, so literally any category recommendations are amazing (DJ, bridal boutique, photographer, videographer, tux rental shops, caterers, venues, favors, please just boast about your awesome business!).

Need a public place to clean!

Hello. I work for Sea Life Aquarium and we are to just a trash cleanup on the 17th of September, but I'm afraid I'm not coming up with a lot of ideas.

We are attempting to make the event open to the public AND our employees and for that reason the following criteria is ideal;

• Relatively near Bloomington

• Relatively easy to access for those differently abled

• Has trash but minimal "hazard" items (needles, paraphernalia, etc)

• Preferably by a body of water

We have previously done the Lillydale Regional Park on the Mississippi River but are looking for something different.

Thank you in advance, and if you'd like to be part of the cleanup please DM me!

Anything better than that post state fair shower?

Howdy from this native Texan. Just wanted to say that the MN state fair is pretty awesome. I’m still missing Big Tex and Fletcher’s corny dogs though.

Any Metro Area pools doing a “dog days of summer” before closing up for the year?

Some apartments, water parks, hotels, and other places with outdoor pools will allow dogs to swim a day or so before they close down the pools for the year. Just checking if anyone knew any, Google is only showing places that used to offer this and no longer do.

Hoping for any first-ring suburbs in particular but would love to hear of any going on in the Twin Cities!

Looking for a reliable courier service for catering in Minneapolis

We run a restaurant in Minneapolis and already use the usual delivery apps for regular customer orders.

For catering, though, we’re thinking about keeping the ordering in-house and just hiring a courier service to handle the delivery. It seems like it could save us quite a bit compared with paying a platform a percentage of a larger catering order.

Has anyone here gone that route? I’m mainly looking for a courier service in Minneapolis with clear pricing and who is comfortable handling bigger catering orders.

A letter from the mayor of Cottage Grove in favor of flock cameras

Fuck this guy.

Pretty much all of the current flock cameras we currently have in Cottage Grove were actually donated by area businesses and groups who support law enforcement.  I know it is not popular to say this - but we've had great success using the flock cameras in car theft cases, one particular drug armed robbery at Walgreens, and a missing person.  I support the use of the flock camera systems - specifically the ones we have in Cottage Grove.
I am not against using taxpayer dollars to purchase equipment at supports our law enforcement efforts.

Sincerely,

Myron A. Bailey

Finding a personal assistant for navigating medical and healthcare issues

I’m wondering how to find folks that do this - googling hasn’t been much help besides elder care.

I’m a woman in my late 30’s, dealing with complex health issues both physical and mental, including some chronic pain that years of countless doctor visits have not been able to make progress on any relief. Throw in perimenopause and my mental capacity to make appointments, battle my crappy insurance, and keep it all in one place is through the floor.

I want to find someone to help me with all of it. Closest I found was a company called Solace but I don’t qualify with them.

I already reached out to my insurance (Allied Benefit System) and they don’t cover/offer this and honestly would rather work with someone not under the confines of insurance. I’m fortunate to be in a position where I can pay private.

Does anyone know if this exists for non-elder care and where to find them?

Reasonably affordable outdoor wedding venues

Upvotes

My fiancee and I are planning to have our wedding in late September 2028, and are looking for suggestions for outdoor wedding venues that are $4000 or less and have capacity for around 150 people. If anyone has recommendations it would be greatly appreciated!

Cabinet refacing

Wondering if anyone in the area has had a good experience with cabinet refacing.

Looking to freshen things up and while we could just replace everything, i was curious about this option.

We would want all fronts and hardware replaced. Boxes are a light wood veneer which we aren’t tied to. We would want it professionally refinished a painted color.

Any tips other than just googling companies?

It's been a long time, and I can never find any information about which hospital it is. Thanks if anyone knows.

Best Italian food with good white sauce options?

My fiancee and I's anniversary is coming up, and we moved here recently and haven't had much chance to explore. So I want to surprise her with a really nice Italian dinner around here (Italian is here favorite), but she is allergic to tomato. And every single place I've found so far rather has zero or only 1 white sauce option

Anyone have any suggestions for places here in the metro that have good food and atmosphere with more than 1 white sauce option?

Is it still possible to find good locally garden grown tomatoes? Farmers market? Are they past season or are there still some good ones? I need 2 dozen.
