Question what classes should i book for first pass as a first year ChemE major?

Trying to get 17 units of classes- Ceng015r, ceng004, phys 2a, chem 6b and math 020d

Are CENG classes hard to get into if I leave them for second pass? If not I was thinking of getting gen chem and physics first pass because they're probably more popular. Also I'm not sure about how popular math 020d is for the incoming class so idk if I should secure it first pass or just leave it for second pass.

Discussion RA training sucks

Everyone I asked about the RA post and its training said that it was so “fun”. Fun?? Where?

Why is this so long, boring, exhausting, and performative. I’m so tired and there’s still such a long way to go.

Hope I don’t get fired for this post 😝

Question First vs second pass

My daughter is an incoming freshman at UCSD and is enrolling in classes today at 10 AM. She is premed and is majoring in biological anthropology, and does not know what classes to first pass versus second pass. She is in Marshall College and wants to take DOC 1 Chem 6A, math 10 A, and a fine Art GE. What do you recommend for first pass versus second pass?

Question Freshmen class schedule advice plz

Hi! I’m an incoming freshman majoring in Electrical Engineering in Sixth College. I’m planning to take CAT 1, Math 18, Math 20C, and ECE 5/ECE 15.

I have a few questions.

  1. The website says that the ECE 15 waiver exam is for transfer students. Can incoming freshmen also take the waiver exam? If so, how difficult is it?

  2. If I can’t take the waiver exam, which would you recommend taking: ECE 5 or ECE 15?

  3. What courses should I first pass?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Discussion ucsd academic history, ucsd is not a t30, its a t70

Upvotes

Picked my first pass classes but still waiting on ucsd to fix their academic history.

I literally have CC dual enrollment credits OOS but I dont know if they transferred properly or not SO IDK WHAT TO BOOK FOR MY CLASSES.

Im tryna genuinely transfer after my first year. No way this is a T30, like there is no way, this school is a T70. Its 2026, and universities still cant figure out how to keep up a website.

Question Muir GE language other than english (3 courses in same language requirement)

This might sound stupid, so I'm curious when is this rule that 3 courses must be in the same language established?

I'm year of 2028, so when I was a freshman I read the Muir GE page (diff page than today's), I remember it was just three courses. I'm in a dilemma right now that I was placed in CHIN 182A back then and no other CHIN language courses are available after I finish CHIN 182B (as my proficiency is too high). Contacted both Muir department and CHIN department and learnt that there's not much they can do and nor can I. So if this was established later, I might be able to take another language's course if possible, as my degree audit didn't restrict it to CHIN only.

or am I gaslighting myself..?

Question Rushing as a transfer

Hiii!! I'm thinking about rushing as a transfer and I am feeling a little bit anxious about it, as I know freshmen are going to be the main demographic of girls who are rushing. If anyone knows how transfer friendly the process is or has any experience with panhellenic recruitment as a transfer student, please let me know 😅🙏 i will appreciate it so much!!!

Question Would I be insane to take Fluid Mechanics (CENG 101a) as a Freshman

I'm an incoming Chemical Engineering major first year. I've already completed all my math requirements along with AP Physics and AP Chem and don't really much to do without processed transcripts. I submitted a bunch of TEA requests for potential useful classes and the only things I got back at this point was approval for my warren writing course and CENG 101a, Introduction to Fluid Mechanics. The normal academic plan puts this class for third years and being very hard but like I really don't know what else I can even take that's useful. My GE abilities are also super limited because I only need upper division courses for my area studies, which most of I can't sign up without Junior or Senior status, and I'd rather just combine my DEI requirement with one those eventually. Any support on this would be greatly appreciated, my window opens at 4 so I'm already worried about getting into classes as is, limited as my options are.

Discussion math 20b and math 18 tg??

im an incoming phy major, i REALLY wanted phy 2a for fall but it literally got filled in seconds not even kidding. So, I have taken math 20b and math 18 together. I have heard that math 18 is quite hard and I don't know if this was a wise decision but I couldn't proceed with any other courses w/o phy. Along with these, I am thinking of taking 2 easy ges like bild 10 and anth 23. Is this too much, do I drop a ge and keep only 3 courses? I want to keep fall light since I really wanna get involved in clubs and socialize have some fun at the start. I am hoping to waitlist phy 2a in the 2nd pass and then drop math 18 but I don't think I will have any luck getting in. I am quite scared and confused for the fall, pls drop some advise for me:))

Question First pass for ME

I want to get the physics classes started by fall so I put in a TEA request and it got accepted. I'm planning on Math-20C, Phys-002A, and Chem6A, and a GE. Not sure if it's like reasonable though because I'm kind of lazy. I also don't wanna ruin my GPA first year. If anyone has any wisdom about the professors or the workload that'd be great.

Question Classes back-to-back-to-back-to- back?

I have the most schizo fall quarter Meta to have my 4 classes all be back to back on Tuesdays and thursdays. That way I can spend my other days of the week leisure-maxxing and handling any homework and stuff. Has anyone done something like this?

I lucked out and it seems like all the classes are within easy walking distance of each other. My personality favors batching and I HATE downtime (not productive in between major tasks).

This is the stuff of legends that I was dreaming about when I submitted the UC app in December.

Question Waitlist paused for 1st year enrollment

If a department saved seats in courses for 1st years and continuing students are on the waitlist, how does it work if the class becomes full after 1st year (first pass) enrollment and other 1st years want to waitlist for the course. Do the 1st years who are waitlist get put on the waitlist after continuing students or is it like a separate waitlist? Sorry if the wording is kinda confusing😭

Question Second pass Math 20A?

Hello!! I was thinking of first passing DOC 1 (Marshall writing GE) and COGS 1 (1 more open seat) or COGS 18 (4 more open seats) instead of Math 20A. Do you think I’ll be able to get Math 20A during second pass or should I just take it for first pass?

Please help!! I’m so stressed
