Friday Recovery Lounge

So, Fridays are a pretty common day to have the procedure done. If you're hanging out, chat about how it's hanging, what you're doing to recover, or anything you want.

Saw someone bullying other men for getting a vasectomy in facebook comments. Why are some men like this? Anyway got him to shut up and hopefully he thinks twice about making nasty comments in the future.

Okay - I should be ecstatic. All I can think is “the test was wrong. Maybe the shipping got it messed up. It’s an error.” Part of me wishes they did find SOMETHING so it feels believable lol. Can anyone confirm this science and put my mind at ease?! 😂

Driving after the procedure?

Hi,

40 years old here with 3 kids. I am planning to do a vasectomy, the problem is that i live 3 hours away from the clinic and i have to drive myself there and back (1.5 hours drive - rest/charge - 1.5 hours drive again). What would be best for me? can i just drive right after the procedure? or spend the night and drive the next day? or spend 2 nights in a hotel and drive home after 2 days? appreciate your shared experiences. Thanks.

Does ejaculation feel the same?

The scariest thought about the procedure is that the amazing feeling of ejaculation will change or not be as amazing prior to the procedure. Is that the case or is the feeling of an orgasm equally as pleasurable as it was prior to the procedure?

... is this normal? Burning / sharp feeling in my upper left groin area post vasectomy

I had mine done last Monday. I would say I felt pretty good the few days after. The swelling I expected. Most of that is now pretty much gone or mostly gone. Yesterday I got some really bad pain in my upper left groin area/thigh area. It’s still around, not as bad as yesterday. When I’m lying down it’s fine. It’s just when I get up or stand it’s bad.

Is this common? My wife is like, tomorrow will be a week I thought you’d be fine? I’m sure it doesn’t exactly work that way. But I wasn’t expecting this pain 5-6 days later.

Newly Snipped 2 for the price of 1.....

Had a vasectomy and circumcision at the same time on Thursday.

The main swelling of the scrotum is starting to ease, as is the area around the glans.

My question is how much bruising should there be above the crotch?

I have a very dark and purple bruise right across where my waistband goes.

Is this ok?

Post snip recovery?

I have a vasectomy scheduled for this Friday. I’m a musician and have a 3hr solo gig scheduled for Saturday night. For this venue I’m usually seated, and have a pretty minimalistic setup for hauling gear. For those who have been through this recovery, Is this something I can safely do or just an unnecessary risk? Canceling isn’t a huge deal if I have to, but the pay is good.

Newly Snipped Vasectomy ✅ (Ireland) my experience

39, 3 kids (1boy and twin girls) decided to get a vasectomy as an extra layer of protection because I don't trust condoms and my luck🤣 got the scalpel procedure done through public hospital which is free in ireland.

I was on a waitng list which you could be waitng 7-10months. I was waiting 7months but in that time I had a consultation with my GP and pre assessment in the local hospital.

Got it done yesterday Thursday 27th August, I was in the reception of the hospital at about 7:45am and got call up to my room at about 9:45am, where I was given my gown, hairnet and disposable underwear, (I groomed myself down there the night before to save some time) was waiting an hour till the surgery. I had two options to have epidural from waist down or full general anaesthetic to knock me out, I took the full general anaesthetic (first time getting that) the nurse was chatting to me away when I was lying down asking me about work, I barely said two sentences and I was out cold. woke up from surgery 30/40mins later, wheeled back to my room for recovery from the anesthetic for the next three hours enjoying toast and cup of tea watching tv

After a few tests to see if i was able to pass urine OK and my blood pressure was good I was free to leave out and all about 3:20pm

Zero pain down there, two incisions one on both testicles

Must keep it dry for 48hrs, no follow up with the hospital unless swelling gets really bad or blood in urine, must send sample to my local GP in 12 weeks and no physical exercise or sex for a week, stitches are dissolvable.

Good luck to anyone getting it done, Sláinte ☘️

Just got a vasectomy have a good amount of bleeding

Got a vasectomy about 6 hours ago. Still bleeding continuously from the indecision. No scalpel procedure. What is a normal amount of bleeding to expect? Currently soaking through any bandages I put down there in quarter sized spots every hour.

ALL CLEAR!!!!! The end of my recovery journey!

Hi guys! I realized I never posted again and I just figured I'd just come here to give a final review of my experience.

For starters, I decided to get a vasectomy because I was going to meet up with my long distance gf. We had a conversation and decided we are not interesting in the whole parenting thing so we agreed it would be best if I went ahead with the procedure.

I got my consultation on June 10th, and managed to schedule my surgery for June 26th.

The only problem is that I was set to travel to see my gf on July 17th. By the time I went on my trip I would've already been healed, but I would probably still have sperm in my system.

And so, a week post-op I decided to go on "pipe-cleaning" marathon from July 2nd through July 15th. I managed to pump out 28 ejaculations before July 16th when I went to check my sperm count.

My marathon actually paid off because within the day my doctor called me to lmk I was completely clear!

After that I went to see my gf on the 17th and we had a great time together without having to worry about "accidents".

I didn't lose any sort of sensitivity or libido since the procedure. Matter of fact, I think it even increased my libido since I knew I could go at it at any point without the risk of getting her pregnant. The only thing I noticed was that my semen felt a lot more watery/liquidy, but I don't really mind it. Volume of semen didnt decrease for me either.

Overall, it's probably the best decision i've ever taken in regards of my sex life and i'm happy to say that I am now fully recovered without any sort of pain, inflamation, or weird lumps in my scrotum lol.

Thank you to everyone in this communuty for being so welcoming and open to answering questions and helping me out with research and ultimately my decision. It's been a ride.

Why does this feel like the most awkward part? Just walking into the diagnostic lab like “here’s a cup of me I guess” Jesus Christ

Newly Snipped Finally did it!

I've been thinking of doing it for about 5 years. Finally made it happen yesterday and I couldn't be happier. The doctor (my old primary) and the nurse and I were all talking about vacations, road trips and cracking jokes in the 20 minutes it took to get it done. I don't respond much to anesthetic so they did two doses on each side. Never felt a thing after the lil prick.

I've wanted to be child free ever since I got genetic testing done and found that I can't ever father girls and any boys I might have there would be a 30% chance of developmental problems. Not worth it. Don't wanna deal with that. So happy. Like a weight has been lifted from me.

Now my jewels feel like just like they did the day after getting kicked. Not great but I can deal with it.

I've told nobody though is that weird? Not my family or close friends.

Newly Snipped Vasectomy complete! 🍒✂️

I (30M) just got back home from my vasectomy! (Yesterday at the time of writing, just posting here now)

I got the no scalpel no needle version with laughing gas. And while I'd love to say I didn't feel anything, there were a few points where I felt sharp/stabbing pain that was like a 6/10, but it didn't last long.

My doctor had a student in for mine, which was cool with me. I like being able to indirectly help others learn... even if I'm just a body on the table lol.

I got mine done because I want to be child free. It's something I've thought about for years now and finally went through with it. Now I play the waiting - and icing - game until I'm healed and get tested.

Anyone have any recommendations?

I’ve got a choice of the following places in the UK for my vasectomy. Has anyone used any of them and how was your experience?

- MSI reproductive choices - Maidstone
- Sloan Hospital
- Lend and Canterbury hospital
- Shirley oaks hospital

Wish there was a trip advisor for this, a snip advisor if you will!

52 fearing the pain or post op recovery for vasectomy

My GF wants me to get vasectomy done. I am 52(M). Sincere advice or recco from your experiences post-op, if you had done the procedure at an age beyond 45(that would be relatable to me).

I am fearing the pain or post-op complications.

Everyone seems to swear by them. I fucking hate this thing. I have up on it before I left the house today. It won't stay still, I have to keep adjusting it, and I'm arguably in more pain with the damn thing pressed against my balls. Idk maybe I'm doing this wrong

... is this normal? 9 months, 3 tests, 100+ emissions, still positive… WTF

I had my vasectomy on dec. 29th, and was surprised when my first test (after 3 months and 40 ejaculations) came back with 24.1 million/ml. The doctor assured me that it happens, and told me to wait and retest.

3 months and 30 more ejac.s later, and I tested at 2.3 million/ml. Lower, but still… the doctor told me to make an appointment for an in-person test at a nearby hospital, but I don’t have the budget for it so I said I’d rather wait another 3 months and try again.

Well, just got back results of 1.4 million/ml.

I feel like that number is low enough that the procedure clearly worked in some sense, but also it’s crazy to me that I’m not at 0. Has anyone here had a similar experience?
