Edit: fühl mich blöd han ich ned as KIZ denkt. Bin eigentlich usem Aargau und kenn mich da in Züri nonig so mit dem ahgebot uus. Bin nur fürs studium do ane

Was just in the bus, some bodybuilder bro with huge fighting dog sitting there. In comes ticket inspection. The bro to the inspector: "I don't have a ticket but I'm in here anyway for only one more station".
U think bro got a fine? Nah, the inspector was just "ok but then you have to leave at the next stop"

We are looking for a first aid course in English in Zurich to prepare for our first child due in mid November.
We managed to find a course offered by Healthy & Safe of 6 hours, but not sure if its good and need these many hours.
Does anyone know of any English courses they could recommend?
Hi everyone!
I’m currently working on an upcoming photography project centred around Zurich and the human condition.i have a few directions in mind, but the more I research, the more I feel that I don’t want to come to Zurich with a ready-made idea and simply look for pictures that fit it.
I’m much more interested in finding something that is actually meaningful to people who live here something you notice because you live in the city, not because it shows up in a tourist guide or google search.
So I wanted to ask the locals, you :
What is happening in Zurich right now that you think deserves to be seen, documented or talked about?
It could be:
I’m not necessarily looking for something dramatic or “beautiful”. I’m interested in ordinary people, contradictions, relationships, changing ways of living things that can tell us something about the human experience through Zurich specifically.
If you have a personal story, a place, an event, a community, a person, or even a strange local issue that you think an outsider should know about, I’d genuinely love to hear it.
Especially interested in things that you feel are important to locals but are largely invisible to outsiders.
Thanks in advance ! even a small lead might turn into something much bigger.

Any recommendations? Prefer an immersion program, but not a requirement. TIA

I'm a french master's student in evolutionary biology and ecology at the University of Montpellier, and I'm at the University of Zurich this week for a research project. I'd like to go out on Thursday and/or Friday to have some beers and party a little in the city to really enjoy Zurich (it's my first time here). But I’m here alone and would love to meet some people. Are there any bars in Zurich where you can meet people and make friends easily?
By the way, if anyone (I am 22) is interested in hanging out (grab a drink, chat, play cards, and listen to some music?) and showing me some spots in Zurich, I'm down for that too!

Hello, people!
Do you know any places in Zurich/Winti where there is an open piano? I mean, a piano in a public space which everyone can play on. Chatted recently with friends and we wanted to go and play together.
I heard there might be one at zhdk. Tried to google but didn’t find any info.
Any suggestions?

the odds increase to 8 in 10 if it's pair of ZH people
Hey,
so as the title says, i am a bit of a fat guy living in zurich that got himself a bike.
It is not bad (BMI is 28) and i used to cycle a lot when i was younger.
What i am looking for is advice to go somewhere instead of just riding without a point.
If you could advise me on places you really like, maybe a Hofladen or just some cool place with a view - i'd really appreciate it.
My bike does have up to 85 Nm support but i'd rather use it as little as possible.

A Leica III f black paint (upgraded) I bought was stolen out of my mailbox in Zurich Kreis 4 on August 28, 2026 — the courier delivered it, and I found the box left empty nearby in the evening. low serial number finishing with 0.
In which Broki should I check or pass by to let them know about this lost item ? I have these in mind :
- Fundsachenverkauf.ch (Fundpakete.ch) – Albisstrasse 60, Wollishofen
- Zürcher Brockenhaus – Neugasse 11, 8005 Zürich
- Heilsarmee Brocki – Geroldstrasse 29, 8005 Zürich
- Arche Brocki – Hohlstrasse 489, 8048 Zürich (Altstetten)
- Brocki am Manesseplatz – Steinstrasse 68, 8003 Zürich
If anyone sees this camera listed or in a shop I'd really appreciate a heads-up. Even a screenshot of the listing helps. I have pretty much my eyes on all the sites in CH, Germany and France but not really the physical shops. The main second hand camera shop are notified.
Before you tell me that I should have sent it to recuperate in the post office, yes I should have, thought the app wasn't working for this parcel and I never had had a stolen package untill now. I am really annoyed by this. There is a private security camera close by but the restaurant is not communicating to help me.

Hi, I’m 28 years old and have been living in Switzerland for two and a half years (inland Switzerland). I’m from Italy and have a B permit.
Unfortunately, due to budget constraints, the bank where I worked as a translator didn’t renew my contract. I’ve been looking for a job for six months,?actively for four, and I’m starting to worry because I can’t find anything.
I studied language mediation and then translation. Right now, I’m “working” at a research center in the communications group through the BNF. I also have experience in public administration (I worked for the Swiss government before joining the bank) and in event management. I speak German, French, and English fluently, I can write, and I also have basic knowledge of programming and linguistic data analysis.
I’ve even tried at restaurant, bars, gym and hotel receptions, but still nothing.
I thought about trying to move away, but it seems the humanities are in crisis everywhere. If I could, I’d do another master’s degree, but I don’t have the money. I still have 8 months to find a job before I get kicked out.
I suffer from depression and don’t see a way out of this situation. I’m writing here because I don’t know who else to talk to about this anymore. Yesterday night I had suicidal thoughts and a friend of mine called the police. I had no idea they could come even for such crises.
Thank you for reading this far.

I (23 F) am looking for a room in zurich as an erasmus student. i currently have the possibility to sign a contract for a room in wallisellen for 1200CHF/month. i’m not too sure about signing because i still haven’t seen the apartment in person (i’m not in zurich yet), it’s a bit over my budget and i would share the apartment with two young men. My other option would be to come to zurich and stay in a hostel/b&b while looking for a better accommodation until the end of the semester.
based on your experience, do you think it could be easier to find a better solution while already in zürich? or should i sign the contract i already have?
i’ve been looking for a room for like 2 months and it’s seems like it’s impossible to find a room for a decent price and i’m worried that if i don’t sign this contract i won’t find a place to stay when i’ll get there

Hi all,
I'm a 30 living in Dublin, Ireland. where I've been for 9 years now. I worked for Google for four years until I was made redundant, which it took me over 5 months to find another job. I been thinking about moving to Switzerland for few years now. I visit Switzerland few times and liked it, and i have met cool people which talk wonders about living there. I think it's a pretty safe place to live, and I also like the fact that it has better weather and more access to nature, mountains, and rivers compared to the surroundings of Dublin. The other thing that really makes me re-consider the situation is the healthcare system in Ireland is pretty bad, public transport is unreliable , and the accommodation situation is a nightmare... plus expensive for what you get ( i remember at one point sharing a two bed flat between 9 people and one toilet )
Ideally, I would like a similar career path to what I was doing before, although open to starting somewhere new and seeing where things take me (Nothing fancy) .I would like to have some stability and being able to save up. Also gone through quite a lot while living here. I had a bad motorcycle accident, followed by a period of depression because of everything that happened afterwards. Plus the redundancy process...
I'm re-considering at this point to leave the country. What do you people think? Is Switzerland worth the effort ?
I speak English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian, and I'm happy to learn German too. I'm realistic about the fact that the job market is messy everywhere...

Seems the current trend is smash burgers, but I'm looking for some thick patties that I can get cooked medium.
Black Tap is acceptable, but anything better out here?

Hey
Our one cats has been recently diagnosed with epilepsy and as a result we need to find a trusted cattery to look after the cats for when we need to travel.
In the past we've relied on friends who don't mind dropping past the apartment, but the new diagnosis means medication 2x a day so we probably need a more structured plan for the future
Does anyone have any recommendations / experiences?
Or also alternative ideas of how to manage the situation

Hi,
This morning I found a wallet around Manesseplatz. There were only coins (no banknotes), and a Debit (credit?) Card in it. Plus, there were additional cards, but they were in the pocket with card ejection mechanism (Kartenauswurf-Mechanismus). I didn't touch that, so not sure what's in there.
If you are reading this, you should be already contacted by the police.
In any case, I left the wallet this morning around 10:00 AM at the police near Schmiede Wiedikon station.
Cheers
