Can someone please tell me some Indian/Pakistani restaurants in the city or the GTA that play old Bollywood songs from the 90s and early 2000s?

I know one Pakistani restaurant (Lahore Tikka House) in the East end does it. Any place else?

Where to watch the air show?

Tickets on the official website (is that even the official website?) are north of $100, which is crazytown. I'm looking for a location that's lower cost (free is best!), with a good view, and ideally easy to get to.

Are you allowed to smoke cannabis at the RBC amphitheatre in the smoking area

Me and My Wife are going to Wu-Tang final chamber concert. Wanted to know a quick couple things I understand we’re allowed to bring a small personal amount of cannabis with us, but are we allowed to smoke it inside the smoking area and what is the best way to catch a lyft after the concert, my app says it’s picking me up after the concert Parking Lot 2, Ontario Place, Parking Lot 2. Also, My Wife can’t walk very far.

Celebrating my gfs 24th birthday

As the title reads, my girlfriend’s birthday is coming up in a few weeks. She wants to do a group dinner with me+friends. The group will be about 8-10 people! I need some recommendations for restaurants that won’t break the bank, but feel classy, have a good vibe, and you can at least dress up and not feel out of place! My girlfriend isn’t too picky with food, as long as the food is good!

Hopefully this can give a good idea for some recommendations!

Thank you :)

E-bikes in the bike lane

Hi all, I’m a food delivery courier and I was just stopped by police officers on Bloor West for an “educational session”. Essentially they told me it’s illegal to be in the bike lane with an e-bike (mine is akin to a regular bicycle with pedals and a 30km/h limit). They said anytime there’s a division between the main road and a bike lane (Bloor for example) I must be on the main road. I expressed how unsafe it would be and they said it’s the law. Is it actually? One of the cops made a smart remark saying the bike lanes are going to be removed soon anyway. This makes no sense to me as there’s people on regular bikes zipping way faster than me and by using the main road with sometimes inconsiderate drivers, I can’t go past 30.

EDIT —

Clinic Failing to send second page of mental health assessment to the ministry of Transport

I live in Scarborough and I was diagnosed with ADHD this June. I went to take my G1 test at my closest Drive Test Center, while there they told me I had to wait until the Ministry of Transportation confirmed with my family doctor that I would be ok with driving. A few weeks pass and I get a letter with a form to give to my family doctor and so I do that. Due to the form not being covered by OHIP, the clinic made me pay 40 dollars to fill out and send the form to the ministry. After this I wait a few more weeks. And today I get a letter telling me that the ministry of transportation has not received the second page of the form. Is there anything I can do to make the clinic take responsibility for their incompetence? Because it feels really unfair to me that I would have to wait longer (and maybe pay even more money) just because the clinic failed to notice that there was a back to the form.

TD auto insurance cancelled for non-payment without me realizing — any chance of reinstatement? (Ontario)

Long story short, my credit card was lost/replaced and I didn’t realize my TD auto insurance payments stopped going through.

TD says they mailed me a cancellation notice. I vaguely remember getting a Canada Post pickup slip, but it didn’t say who it was from. By the time I went, it had already been returned to sender. I never got an email from TD and had no idea my insurance was cancelled.

Policy was cancelled July 26, 2026.

My situation:
-Paying about $250/month before
-Driving about 10 years, currently G2
-One minor at-fault accident from Dec 2024, which had first-accident forgiveness with TD
-One minor speeding ticket, around 10 km/h over
Weirdly, I got the ticket July 25, one day before the cancellation
-First ever cancellation for non-payment
-I’ve now paid TD everything I owed

When I called, they initially couldn’t give me a new policy because of the accident + ticket + cancellation. The rep told me to call back after the payment clears and explain the situation because they may be able to review it differently.

Has anyone had TD actually reinstate their old policy after something like this, or remove/reverse the non-payment cancellation?

If TD said no, how much did your insurance increase when you went to another insurer or high-risk broker?
Just trying to figure out whether I’m temporarily screwed or completely screwed lol.

Kayakers/Paddle boarders watching the airshow this weekend?

Watching the airshow became a tradition for my family but I just got a paddle board and I was thinking if you can actually watch the airshow on a paddle board given the exclusion zone, any areas where you can actually be at?

Is there a way to get Google Maps to reflect the road closure from Victoria to Bay on Queen?

I tried sending edits noting it’s closed for construction until 2028 and they’re rejected each time. It’s bugging me as it messes up my google map commute routes. I’m not a fan of Waze.

Where can I go to get a 3.5mm input and 3.5 cable end repaired?

Hi! I have an older pair of headphones (Beyerdynamic DT990 Pros, the model where the cable isn't removable) and an older iPod nano 7th gen. They both work, but the 3.5mm end of my DT 990 cable is sometimes wonky, and I'd like to see if I could get my iPod Nano's headphone input looked at as well since sometimes I need to twist my headphone cable to make it work (even with other headphones and iems).

Is there anywhere in Toronto that could take a look, and/or give me a quote? Preferably in Toronto but I can get to other parts of the GTA too. Thanks in advance!

Cheap Places to watch EPL Sunday Morning

Some buddies and I are looking to watch the premier league games next Sunday starting at 9am. However I don’t know where we could go on our uni student budgets. We’re looking to stay near Queen and University, but most of us are commuting in so we’re pretty flexible. What options are available?

Edit: were looking to spend around 15 a person and also our group doesn’t necessarily drink so could be a breakfast/brunch spot or something

How soon do you think we can pack away those ACs?

For a stretch it felt like we had some decent weather that made turning on the AC unnecessary but these couple of days with the rain and humidity, it's been brutal. I mean, walk outside and you're sweating your tennis balls off.

I don't think historical dates can be reliably used now since weather anomalies are so rampant across the globe.

This morning it's muggy as all get out. I need the dang AC just to breath in my own apartment.

What’s your personal Toronto overrated/underrated?

Pitchfork used to do a YouTube series I liked called Overrated/Underrated and I miss it now. So I thought I’d pose the question here:

Which restaurants, cafes, bars, stores, hangouts, neighbourhoods, etc in TO would you consider to be the most overrated or underrated?

Settle a Debate: Scarborough Pronunciation

Context: My friends and I were talking about something and I mentioned Scarborough. They asked why I was pronouncing it like “Scar-bur-oh” instead of “Scar-bro,” and I said because that’s how it’s spelled. They were INSISTENT that I’m the one saying it wrong and that the ONLY correct pronunciation is “Scar-bro.” So I searched it up and found that locals/people who live in the GTA usually pronounce it “Scar-bro” rather than fully pronouncing it as “Scar-bur-oh.” I said, “Oh, that makes sense and it’s kind of like Toronto being pronounced “Tor-on-toe” vs. “Tronno”” They immediately said that’s not the same thing at all. They are VERY ready to die on the hill that there is absolutely no debate over how Scarborough is pronounced and that everyone (or at least the vast majority of people) says “Scar-bro.” But I swear I’ve heard it pronounced both ways multiple times.

So please settle this: How do you pronounce Scarborough? Is “Scar-bro” basically universal in Toronto/GTA, or do you hear people say “Scar-bur-oh” too?

Somewhere that’s has great but worth it cocktails. This doesn’t mean it has to be dirt cheap, but you should feel like it is worth the money.

Initial impressions? Equinox - King West

Today is the grand opening at the King West location! What were your initial impressions?

Keeping in mind that things are still settling in place, the gym overall feels quite nice. A lot of nice equipment that I haven’t seen in standard commercial gyms. It was definitely busy around the 7:30am-8:30am period, but it trickled down once people started leaving for work.

My current minor gripes:
- Free-weight benches feel pretty cramped
- The 45 lbs bumper plates are massive and awkward to handle
- There doesn’t seem to be any bins for the tissue papers at the men’s change room(?)
- The equipment sanitary wipes take awhile to dry off. But tbf, I’d rather have it sanitized properly than none at all.
- The rental lockers are a lot smaller and narrower than what I expected. I’ll likely just use it for my gym shoes, so I have less to carry.

Still finding my way around the equipment and getting a better sense of the layout. Overall, I’m pretty excited to have this as my home gym and maybe work from their lounge area.

Looking for unique/high-end Toronto experiences for a group of 18 executives

Upvotes

Hi Toronto!

I’m planning an event for a group of 18 senior executives/CEOs in late January, and I’m looking for some unique experiences or excursions in Toronto.

The group has done some pretty great things in the past, including:
- Raptors game in a private Skybox
- Market close event @TSX
- Private dinner on a boat

I’m trying to find something that feels special, memorable and distinctly Toronto, rather than a standard corporate dinner or team-building activity.

I’ve brainstormed a few ideas, but these are just ideas off the top of my head — I have no idea if they actually exist, are possible for a group of 18, or are completely outlandish, so please feel free to suggest better options (or tell me I’m out to lunch):
- Craft brewery tour + private dinner
- Behind-the-scenes tour of the Maple Leafs dressing room
- An exceptional chef’s table or private dining experience
- A private experience at a Toronto landmark or institution
- Something behind-the-scenes that the general public normally wouldn’t have access to

The group is quite diverse — men and women, different ages and interests. Not everyone drinks alcohol, not everyone likes sports, etc. So ideally I’d like something that has broad appeal and doesn’t revolve entirely around drinking, sports or physical activity.

I’m also very open to touristy, fun, quirky or unexpected suggestions. It doesn’t necessarily need to be sophisticated or business-focused if it’s genuinely a memorable experience.

Downtown Toronto is strongly preferred for the activity, but I’m absolutely willing to travel outside the downtown core (GTA included) if there’s something really worth doing.

The budget is flexible for the right experience. I’m looking for something high-end, exclusive, experiential, unusual, behind-the-scenes, or simply exceptionally well done.

If you’ve personally done something with a group like this, or know of a place/experience that would be a great fit, I’d love to hear your suggestions.

What would you do with 18 people in Toronto if the goal was to give them an experience they’d actually remember?

Business Truck broke down (at the mechanic atm), contractor demands renting a truck (construction/demolition)

Or they’ll look around for other options?

They don’t pay for the truck rental anymore, nor do they pay gas.

Can you recommend a Dermatologist that would prescribe me a micro-dosage of Accutane?

Do I need a reference from my family doctor? Is anyone here on a prescription of accutane ( microdosing )? - my skin is so oily to the point I'm getting a lot of sebaceous hyperplasia (which doesn't go away like a pimple - but online testimonies have stated micro-dosing on accutane made them vanish)... and I'm also getting large zits at times. I was on accutane in my early 20s ( normal dosage ), and my skin was great and matte on it.

Location doesn't have to be in Toronto, the GTA is fine.

Considering an EV… Charging Station Help?

Upvotes

I’m thinking about buying an EV for the first time. I live in a condo building and installing a home charging station isn’t possible. Does anyone else who has an EV rely on public charging stations? What’s your experience with them (especially in the winter)? Thanks!
