Hi everyone please bare with me as this is probably asked a million times.
I am on a 5080, and contemplating to go for a 5090, but hear me out.
I am on 1440p, not a fan of 4k. I don't use Ai, I only use my PC for work and casual gaming. I play multiplayer games like COD Warzone, PUBG, and games like Black Myth, GTA, Ghost of Tsushima.
Many of the benchmark comparison videos I see on youtube, are running games at the maximum settings, even with Ray Tracing, and the difference between the 5080 and 5090 is quite significant, around 20-30fps, more for some games
But the thing is, I don't run my games as maximum settings with Ray Tracing unless i am getting 200 or more FPS. For all the games i am playing now, i am getting a good 200-230FPS at almost max settings (with some unnecessary settings tune down) and I am pretty much satisfied.
I feel that going from say 230avg FPS to 260avg fps may not yield any meaningful difference that my eyes can perceive.
Furthermore, lets say in a particular game the 5090 performs at 30FPS higher than the 5080, i can also simply achieve that additional FPS by lowering certain settings that are not important, or not something that my eyes can notice going from medium to extreme.
If i were to sell my 5080 on a used market and get a 5090, i would still have to fork out around 4000-4500. Is this even worth that additional performance which can easily be achieved with some overclock and graphic setting tweaks?
I am running a 9800x3d btw.
Would like to hear some opinion.
