Hi all I just upgraded from a 4060 to 5070ti to make the most of my new 4k 144hz monitor. Since swapping out the GPUs though I have been having issues in esports games like fortnite and overwatch.

For reference I have a Ryzen 5 3600 and 2x8GB DDR4 3600MHz RAM.

In fortnite I seem to be unable to get over 100fps at all resolutions (1080p, 1440p, 4k) and at all quality settings (lumen and nanite drop it to ~60-70fps. I have checked and I definitely don't have any sort of fps cap in game or in the nvidia app.

In overwatch I manage 144fps on highest graphics settings but the game will stutter with 1% lows of ~10fps if I do anything other than move around slowly.

In single player games though (e.g. hogwarts legacy I have no such issues and can get 144fps no problem with dlss performance on.

My question is whether my CPU is bottlenecking me in esports games and do I need to upgrade?

Would a 5700x be sufficient or is the X3D really that important nowadays? Would be looking to get one second hand on ebay or similar to avoid paying extra for new CPU.

as the title says i bought pc components and asked for it to be assembled and tested before being delivered to me.

today the pc came. i got a bit of initial trouble cause the white led was on and the gpu seemed to not show any sign of working. i changed the hdmi cord from gpu to motherboard. now its connected to my tv but from the devices displays it says that the gpu i have is not being detected.

i read that sometimes it can be because the GPU plugs arent pushed all the way in so tomorrow i will try to push them and see if more goes in or not.

does anyone know if there can be another cause for this? is the gpu defective or not?

i have a ryzen 7 9800x3d and a msi mag x870 tomahawk and was wondering if i should download the drivers from the msi website or the amd website. if it's from the amd website should I use the auto detect or use adrenalin?

I’ve had this computer for about 2 years before it suddenly stopped working on me. One day after I had came back from a trip, I tried turning it on and at first the display stopped working. Then, after I thought it was just acting up, the PC completely shut off on me. Couldn’t turn it on, no display, nothing. Now the DRAM and CPU lights are on.

I tried taking the CMOS battery out and the LED’s and fans spun, but it wouldn’t POST.

List of things I’ve tried:
- Draining power while it’s plugged out
- Replaced CPU
- Tried every RAM slot 1 by 1
- Tech store guy replaced the motherboard and said “it turned on for a second then turned off a second after,” so he couldn’t help apparently. Got it back still messed up. This was before replacing the CPU.
- CMOS reset
- Tried a separate CPU wire

Specs:
- Motherboard: ASRock B550M-C
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5500
- PSU: ATX-PR600W

Lights still remain bright red, only thing I could guess last is the PSU? It’s a prebuilt and the PSU is non-modular so replacing that would be annoying. Please help.

Would there be any benefit to adding RAM sticks from my order comp to my new build if they're not the same?

I have two computers... One that I'm switching to has a bit better motherboard and video card and the RAM in it is PNY MN16GK2D43200-TB 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 SODIMM CL22 Memory.

The less poweful computer has G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 CL15 Memory in it.

I'm wondering if adding the G. Skill sticks to the better build would get me any boost at all since then I'd be at 32 GBs of Memory?

For some reason is not stable with expo only on standard. Have I lost the chipset lottery? I have up to date drivers, bios, chipset, gpu etc.

It's been a while since I built my rig but its getting old for my use case and I'd like an upgrade that doesn't require me to live live a caveman for a few months after purchasing everything.

I’m currently running a Ryzen 5 5600X + RTX 3070 and I'm playing on 1440p.

My main game is Black Desert Online, which can be pretty CPU-heavy, and so I’ve been looking at upgrading my 5600X to a 5800X3D that's apparently been re-released recently. BDO is also getting DX12 support soon, which made me think this could be a pretty good final upgrade for my AM4 platform, especially if it helps with frametimes/stuttering.

After that, I’d like to replace my RTX 3070, but I’m struggling to find a GPU that actually feels like a good upgrade without spending a shitload of cash. The 5070 seemed like a good pick since it's not THAT expensive (compared to everything else...), I figure it would make for a good upgrade from my old GPU and I also thought it would make sense paired with a 5800x3d.

I've been out of the loop for a while now, I don't know which GPU is a scam for the price nowadays. I really need help figuring out what upgrade path I should take.

I’ve also heard DLSS has gotten pretty good over the years, which is one reason I’m leaning towards Nvidia, although I’m open to other suggestions.

So I’ve been a console player my whole life. I play on ps5 and I wanna switch over pc mainly because of all the stuff PlayStations doing but also there’s a lot of indie titles I really wanna play on steam but I would also be playing triple a games as well. I know pretty much nothing about pcs or how to build one so I don’t know what to do. I have a few questions tho before I make a decision on whether I wanna switch to pc or not.

1 what’s the price I should be expecting? Is it possible to get a decent pc for 1k-1,5k?

2 how hard is it to build one? Is it like putting a LEGO set together or more like fixing a truck engine? And if I accidentally assemble it wrong could I fix it or would I have to buy new stuff?

3 would the switch be worth it? Like are the benefits of switching from ps5 to pc worth it?

Motherboard Asus Prime B450M-K II .I have been using this pc for 4 years now and its a decent build but only problem is cpu is so damn hot. like i just reapplied thermal paste with stock fan im getting 60C* on desktop. in game least i can see is 70C* in lobby im constantly 85C* in game and if a new map starts to load my temps are all set to 92C* with that bothering me for quite a long time and recently getting shutdowns for hot cpu. I decided to buy a stronger cpu cooling fan. First one i bought came too big(totally my mistake for not asking the guy if this will work for my pc) second one i bought also came too big(this time i asked the guy if it will work for my motherboard and he said yes). I measured it 90mm to 55mm and struggling to find a cpu cooling fan for that size.

To be completely honest I have no idea which ones actually work together or what the best specs are so I am completely relying on your expertise to guide me 😊

My budget is €1,200 (can stretch to €1,300 if it makes a massive difference) and I live in the Netherlands.

I am moving away from a laptop because I want to get serious about content creation, video editing and gaming. My current dell laptop simply can't handle it. It constantly lags and my timeline freezes completely during editing. I was looking into buying a prebuilt PC but after doing some research on YouTube. I realized that building it myself will give me much better components and way more value for my money.

Hi, I've been playing on consoles (mainly Xbox) my whole life, I've had a job for a while and saved up about £2000, I'm looking for what parts would be the best for a PC. Hey everyone, I'm currently on a tight budget and looking to upgrade my rig, but I'm torn between maxing out my current build or making the jump to AM5.

My current build:

• CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
• GPU: RTX 3060 12GB
• RAM: 16GB DDR4

• Mobo: Gigabyte B450M DS3H

• Option 1 (Stay on AM4): Update my motherboard BIOS, drop in a Ryzen 7 5700X (or maybe a 5700X3D), and buy a new 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 kit.

• Option 2 (Jump to AM5): Buy a brand new B650 motherboard, a Ryzen 7000 series CPU, and 32GB of DDR5 RAM.

The issue is that moving to AM5 will cost me about 2 to 3 times more than simply upgrading my current AM4 setup. Since I plan on keeping my RTX 3060 12GB for the foreseeable future, is the performance difference of AM5 and DDR5 actually worth the massive price gap?

for context, i have a ryzen 5 5600g, 32gb ddr4 3600mhz corsair, biostar a520mt motherboard, rtx 5070 pny and a cooler master v2 750w psu.

The gpu in question didn't work on my pc so i took it to a specialist to test it if it's working since i bought it used and it worked. However, when i insert the same gpu to my pc there's no display with the hdmi, just gpu fans spinning and when i put the hdmi port in the motherboard, there is display. I used to have a 5060 ti 16gb and it worked just fine, but i'm suspicious of either the pcie slot or the psu because logically these two components are the only two having direct contact with the gpu or there's something i'm missing?

For the record, Bios is updated to the latest version, the primary video output is set to pcie in the bios and i used the 12vhpwr adapter that came with the psu but again only the gpu fans are spinning so i ordered another adapter just in case it is the problem. If you know anything about this problem i would appreciate some help here

I built my first & current PC mid 2021, during COVID. It has served me well and I still enjoy my PC (with minor complaints). I have some money saved up and thought it would be nice to upgrade my PC.

My complaints:

1. Games take a while to load. I haven't ran any actual tests but sometimes I feel like my buddy's PS5 starts games faster than my PC. When I finally load into the game, the textures take an extra 2-3 min to load (Especially games like R6 & Forza).
2. Graphics are low quality. I know this is more of a nitpick than anything, especially since my GPU was a hand-me-down from a friend who upgraded at the time I built my PC. I have seen mixed reviews on my GPU, some call it old but gold while others call it severely outdated.
   1. If I upgrade, what should I be expecting? I don't know if it is worth it to go from Low -> Medium graphics if I gotta drop $500 -1000 USD on a new graphics card. But if a pay the same amount to go from Low -> High graphics, then I think that is worth the upgrade.
   2. I have been playing the Insomniac Spider-Man games and I am only able to run them on super low settings. My goal would be to be able to run on High, but what would be needed for something like that?

Something to take into consideration is that I have not changed any settings on my PC other than using the full speed on my RAM. (Idk if that is the right term). They are currently set to 3200 MT/s. Nothing else has been changed in the BIOS menu.

Due to current RAM crisis, RAM prices have skyrocketed. Consequently I don't want to perform a complete upgrade of the MB, CPU and RAM. I'm considering buying only the RX 9060 XT 16 GB. Do you think this card would be compatible with my current system? I'm very worried about bottleneck, would my cpu and mb cause any issues? I am aiming for 1440p gaming btw if I get this card.

I recently got an R9 5950X to replace my R7 5700X due to doing a lot of multitasking and rendering. I know the R9 runs hotter so I want to know if I can run it well with my current CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Slim

I want to upgrade my pc (AMD 5 5600). I often find myself doing multicore physics simulations locally on my pc for testing purposes (I'm in the field of CFD). What processor should I look for to upgrade? At the moment, I am looking at the 9000 series (I am counting on a motherboard replacement). What would you recommend? Or would there be better options in the 7000 series?

EDIT: I didn't consider that an upgrade to DDR5 would be required for AMD 7000/9000. What would be alternative options when I want to stay on DDR4?
