Some friends and I are potentially planning on fucking around, getting some LARP foam lances, and jousting on the periphery of a golf course mounted on two electric bicycles. This is obviously very stupid, and that fact isn’t lost on us, which is why I am asking what sort of safety gear/armor would be necessary for such a sport?

I’m well aware “safety” isn’t really in the books here, but harm reduction tips would be nice.

Hey guys, I removed my original brakes on my ebike cause they were trash and installed hydraulic brakes. I noticed my old brakes each had a wire running to the controller. What I did was remove this wire at the handle level and there is a button on each of them. My motor will not engage unless these buttons are pressed down.

Will removing these wires completely break my controller? How do I remedy these tij my new brakes if my new brakes do not have a slot like my old brakes for these wires.

Right now I have taped the buttons down and ziptied all the extra wiring under my frame but this seems like a non elegant fix.

I want to get into the e-bike scene, mostly because of the convenience of traveling cheaply and quickly, while looking cool doing it. The problem I have is that my budget is tight, but all the bikes within my budget are too small for me. I am 1.96m (6.4ft) tall, my budget is €2,000-€2 ,500, and I live in Germany (which doesn't have all the bikes available that the US has). I have no problem buying used bikes, i just don't know what to look for when purchasing a used one. For the Germans in here: I want a L1e one so I don't have to register it (I have a B license). If anyone has some tips on what to watch out for when buying used e-bikes and what brands are good for my height and budget, you would help me a bunch. As for the looks, I want a dirt bike-style one, like Surron, etc.

p.s. I heard that it can be cheap to buy a "small" (light bee, etc.) one and upgrade the seat height, maybe that's something I should look for?

Been debating on getting an ebike but some of them are like $2500 for good quality ones which is a bit out of my price range, and at that point I'd rather get a used motorcycle.

But was wondering, I was considering on getting a mongoose bike and getting either a DIY gas or ebike kit but wasn't sure if it might be worth getting or not.

I'm in need for an upgrade, my current ebike both breaks are shot and will require over $400 in repairs so I'm just getting a new bike instead.

Has anyone had trouble reaching their customer support by phone? I cannot find a number. I called their warranty service by phone but had to leave a message. Still have not been able to talk to a human. Concerned about needing support if I buy their locks.

Howdy all, have a friend that’s looking to add lights to his Surly Skidloader. He currently has a Busch + Muller IQ-X for dynamo hub, but was curious to install it on this bike. I’m seeing two options for cables - one for front lights, and one “power supply for third party lights.”

Am I correct in thinking that the power supply would just be for more powerful lights up to 12v such as B+M IQ-X E, and the regular light cable would work for 6v lights like his IQ-X? We also want a rear light, and there’s three ports - assuming two for regular 6v front/rear and one for power supply if we went with a 12v front light? Thanks in advance for your guidance!

It was a first for me in over 75 years of riding bicycles! I got run off the road. Not just by someone not paying attention, by a truck!

He could not wait for a car coming the other way to pass us, or to slow down to my 15 mph in a 25 mph school zone. So he chose to pass on a double yellow line with a car approaching. Since I didn't want to A) be involved in a head on collision, or B) get run over by a pair of 20" truck tires, I decided my 'Lectric bike could take to the yard beside the road.

And then, the guy stopped in the middle of the road to back into the driveway to drop off his load. I stopped to take the picture and he yelled at me to keep out of his street. LOL

Now he has done it. He might have gotten away with it had he just apologized. Now, I am out after his job.

Hello, I am a 6 foot 235 lb person who is looking to buy an ebike for local commuting (i dont have a car or reliable access to one). I am sick of paying $20+ dollars everytime I go to town. Price needs to be under $600 canadian. I live in the Okanagan Valley in BC Canada I need a reliable e bike with good tires and decent range and a good motor So does anyone have a recommendation for me?

I have no financing options available

Saving up $1500 -$3000 cad just isn't an option that's like 2 months of my income, I'd be homeless before I saved that.

I don't know anyone willing to float me that kinda cash on a payment plan and a promise.

I can't just "go get a job" due to epilepsy, limited mobility and living 2.6 km out of town and no reliable access to public transportation

I've paid all my bills 2 months in advance at great detriment to me in order to be able to afford even this)

So with all those things in mind, what do people recommend i buy in 3 weeks ?

I find the suspension seat post that came with my bike kinda sticky and not smooth when it bounces

I would like to see if there is a better seat post, however, I would like to keep it under $100. I pretty much only ride paved streets and paths, but most bike greenways in my city have speed bumps. any suggestion?

Hey everyone. I've been having a nightmare summer with my e-bike. My initial bike was stolen in July and I managed to find a replacement that was the same model for pretty cheap. It's a company called excel power bike here's a link to the owners manual with a parts list, they've gone out of business since, but I imagine they were just sourcing generic parts. On the replacement bike I bought I've had major issues with spokes constantly breaking on the back wheel. I've had a friend of mine fix it a few times and it just keeps breaking. At this point I need a new back wheel and I don't want to pay for an entire rebuild around the motor. Would I be able to find a replacement back wheel for this model that can just plug and play? I've been doing a lot of research but I can't really tell. I'm trying to research controllers and wheels and all of these things but I can't really tell what I'm looking at or even what to look for.

I keep seeing the “it has pedals” argument, but that seems way too simple. The MA-S has working pedals and pedal assist, yet the advertised power and top speed put it well outside normal Class 1/2/3 limits.

For people who own something in this category: do you treat it as an e-bike, an e-moto, or basically an off-road machine unless it can be registered?
