Just what is hypergryph planning with Endfield?

The next update patch tomorrow is going to have only 1 new 6 star operator as well

Ts is failing on retaining players I reckon

u/neclaabla 9h ago

I think they will re-design the game ZZZ style sooner than later. They are severely below their competitors. And now with Silver Palace on horizon, i reckon they will try to swing it big

u/Defiant-Seat5425 8h ago

yeah need to remove or simplify that factory gameplay like tv in zzz. some people like it but majority thats not familiar with AK not

17

u/Khoceng 8h ago

maybe simplify and not remove, cause good god, the new materials needs to be processed so much, my base is basically rats nest, like 8-14 raw materials that is processed 6-8 times just for 1 output, then there's also waste material

even Satisfactory put waste stuff at the end and they feel useful! because FICSIT do not waste

4

u/Defiant-Seat5425 8h ago

i prefer both, makes it optional like you can skip it or simplified it of cannot skip like wuwa did with puzzles, don't force it on players.

many gacha players like me too lazy to use brain or search on internet lol

With Endfield they tried to have their cake and eat it too. Appeal to the more mainstream/casual demography with a more generic 3D action combat system and try to get the OGs with the IP and factory.

At least in my anecdotal experience, this didn't really work. The mainstream audience hates the factory, the OGs hate the story and often don't care for the combat.

I think you're sadly right in that they likely will make the factory easier or less relevant, because the other option of overhauling the entire combat system to try and appeal more to the established Arknights audience is almost certainly not going to happen.

6

u/Defiant-Seat5425 7h ago

agreed with your point, that's literally the problem because they can't make up their mind on which audience they want to target lol.  need to sort that out first, most gacha usually get the idea after 2-3 patches but endfield dev kinda slow, no idea what they are thinking.

u/Killjoy3879 7h ago

I would genuinely quit if they did that. The TV was ass in ZZZ but the factory gameplay almost has me wish this wasn’t even a gacha.

Exactly my thoughts ZZZ already had a very solid combat system and endgame focus since the beginning but Endfield's entire soul is Factory everything is build around even the open world so removing it is equal to declaring EOS and I DO NOT want that.

u/StarlightKnight2101 6h ago

That pretty much outlines the reason for why it’s failing no. With such an in depth factory system being the major point of the game, what purpose do the characters serve and why even bother pulling potentials for them. It completely half asses the character aspects of the game which is why the game is in the state it is.

7

u/Defiant-Seat5425 7h ago

honestlt endfield need to decide what they want fast, they only got teo choice, keep the factory but give up on mainstream audience, or remove it if they want to pursuit mainstream audience, cant doing both.

11

u/tagle420 6h ago

Factory will stay that's for certain. They were very clear about it from Gamescom panel. They plan to expand on the system. Things is we won't see any of it this and next patch.

3

u/Defiant-Seat5425 6h ago

yeah means its gonna make mainstream audience away lol and gonna flopped harder, unless they are ok with what they have now, but surely that's not gonna sit well with investor because they want to see growth

u/Bajiru666 1h ago

I mean, OG keeps the mainstream audience away and is doing pretty well, which proves that HG doesn't have to give a shit about the mainstream audience. More importantly, they don't necessarily need the OG audience for Endfield if they can find their own niche audience for it, just like OG did, they have their own niche audience.

u/DarkGrundi 57m ago

the main stream audience will hop from game to game anyway, no need to please them if they are gone when the next game releases. They already jumped to NTE just because of the generous gacha, only to then play a completely ass game in every aspect of it (i played for like a month and was done with it).

1

u/Killjoy3879 7h ago

I just don’t think they have too lol. The primary issue people have is with the story. If you want to skip the factory you can copy and paste a blue print which takes 5 minutes.

11

u/MidniteCowby 6h ago

The problem is that the BP system is really tedious.

You cannot just simply select a factory and plop it down, no you have to copy 5 or so different blue prints and align them properly which is just tedious.

2

u/Killjoy3879 6h ago

it's 20 minutes of work that'll last 6 weeks or more...at that point i just don't know what to say.

u/mutabila 1h ago

For me, it's 20 minutes.... but only after you manage to upgrade the areas to the max to use the most efficient blueprints (because the max expansions are required for space) and then it's only useful for a couple weeks before they release a new region and then all the armor is blocked again. I genuinely wouldn't mind it as much if all the armor wasn't blocked behind the factory, but it is and it's frustrating, and way more of a time investment to get to being able to do the 20 minutes of placing blueprints.

I'm still hanging in there because of Ardashir yearning and I enjoy the robot puzzles, but I shouldn't be dreading new regions just because oh gods, I have to max everything out and set everything up again.

u/Killjoy3879 1h ago

I mean i prefer that to the constant never ending grind of farming rng stats that every other gacha seems to have for whatever god forsaken reason.

Also for the most part any new Sub PAC's use materials you can farm from your main AIC. In wuling i just used the batteries i was already making from my main AIC to fully upgrade the new PACs that were unlocked.

u/mutabila 40m ago

Fair enough, I don't even touch endgame ZZZ because trying to farm the right drive discs for it is so annoying. I don't pull for meta in the first place in HSR or Genshin also that I've just resigned myself to subpar performance in the first place when I do endgame.

Yeah..... about that, I'll be honest and say right now I haven't maxed out shit even in Valley IV because I also hate the tower defense for the stockposts so kept dragging my feet upgrading them. It's a bad combo lol. So yeah a lot of my factory building for a long time was desperately trying to determine what mats I needed most and trying to get the factory lines to fit without eating up my batteries. Have finally given in and am slowly getting around to upgrading starting with Valley IV, but the Hoyo games are still my priority and I still hate stockpost tower defense. So the factory side just Has Not been a great experience for me overall, while I love the exploration and am up and down w my impressions of the story.

20 minutes kinda long and tedious for typical gacha gameplay though.

0

u/Killjoy3879 6h ago

20 minutes that you spend once every month and a half or more? jesus christ man do you even like playing games? That's such a painfully lazy thing to admit to.

5

u/Defiant-Seat5425 6h ago

thats long for such a minigame though, it feels longer of its tedious gameplay you hate like factory.

honestly its ok if they just made that factory gameplay as their only gameplay and not baiting casual with action gameplay.

u/DerpTripz 6h ago

I'm sorry but that's a severe lack of attention spam. Literally looking at a 20min in depth guide from Kyostinv that's literally just plug and play and literally handholding atp can't be too hard no?

8

u/Defiant-Seat5425 5h ago

man hearing that guide is 20 minss long already turn off people lol, thats some long ass stupid puzzle just like zzz tv and somehow people think making. no wonder the game flopped

u/Dynamite600 5h ago

Thats what they have decided to do, they've said time and time again they are sticking with the factory.

Noticed this with early days ZZZ, people always say they gotta change one of the things that makes a game unique. You guys just want to play several games that are all the same?

0

u/Defiant-Seat5425 5h ago

problem is endfield want to be unique with factory but also same with action gameplay, those 2 dont mix well becaymost action game players dont like puzzle/managing gameplay.

they need to pick one and drop other.

1

u/Dynamite600 5h ago

Doing that would be a sure fire way to kill the game.

Also, the game is still doing well? The action combat and factory works just fine and where have you seen people complaining about managing and puzzles? I think youre just trying to use personal experience to speak for others.

1

u/Defiant-Seat5425 5h ago

managing/puzzles is factory thing im talking about, of course there is minority of people who like both but lots of people getting filter out because of factory, most casual just want easy action gameplay.

other gacha know about how tedious/boring minigame can filter out many players, hence why when they include some puzzle gameplay, it will be easy and short, or letting player able to skip them entirely with hint or simple skip button. you cant force tedious minigame in action gameplay. if you want to make it long that just make the game that focus on factory only, not with action gameplay just to bait casual mainstream audience

1

u/Dynamite600 4h ago

I think its great that there are developers out there trying new things instead of just copy pasting their own version of a old formula. I think Hypergryph were well aware they wouldn't hit revenue levels similiar to Genshin, and that's absolutely fine, a game made for everyone is a game made for no one.

Also, factory mode in Endfield does have a 'skip' button, Blueprints, it doesnt take long to copy one and then you dont have to deal with it for several weeks if you dont want to.

u/Defiant-Seat5425 2h ago

problem is they are trying to do both with unique idea factory and typical idea action combat. people that like one then tends to not loke others type.

like i said those long ass preparation is one turnoff people, even if one time nobody like focusing on doing something they feel boring more than 20mins, hence why zzz dev removed tv even though thats also one time only per story because its taking too long.

u/Venvut 7h ago

Nah, the factory gameplay is its big differentiator and it’s honestly fun. They can continue to simplify it, but if they remove it they destroy the soul of the game. They have pretty much zero endgame though, so why pull for characters? They REALLY need to work on a reason. I think the bones are good, it’s my favorite current gacha, but they desperately need more reason to keep playing. They improved on the story pretty drastically in the last two patches and I like where it’s going, but I still feel little reason to keep playing in between patches.

But I play this and Infinity Nikki so I am the niche weirdo this appeals to loll

4

u/Defiant-Seat5425 7h ago

yeah but people who like it are niche minority like you sadly, their choice is going all in with people like you or abandon it if they still want to target mainstream audience, cannot do both or its gonna flop like now lol

u/Siri2611 3h ago

Yeah lets just make another 3d open world slop, that's just a genshin copy

u/Defiant-Seat5425 2h ago

That's what people like though, people never get tired of open world game.

even for non gacha game, open world game like gta are very popular, people never get tired of it.

u/Siri2611 1h ago

But do we need more tho? Not really

u/Bajiru666 49m ago

people never get tired of open world game

The thing is, players actually do get tired. They don't have the time to play multiple open-world games; these titles end up cannibalizing each other's audiences. If a developer isn't confident they can go toe-to-toe with the genre's giants, it is better to opt out of the competition and carve out a niche of their own.

3

u/Ahenshihael Arknights 6h ago

Other way around.

They need to redesign the game to attract AK players back since attracting casuals didn't work.

8

u/Defiant-Seat5425 6h ago

the thing is AK players dont like some mainstream thing like action combat so its not that easy to redesign lol, might as well make new game much easier.

0

u/Ahenshihael Arknights 4h ago

If they could flip combat to action like half a year before release, they could flip it towards tactical like before 2.0.

They just need to add the old skill targeting and make future characters have more complex skills and more tactical combat going forward.

u/Defiant-Seat5425 2h ago

that's lots of rebalancing to test lol but i can see it could work since its more familiar to what AK players like

I quit the game because of the factory gameplay. I mentioned in my feedback back then I wouldn't be back unless it was completely removed. But at this point it's probably too late, my interest is gone.

14

u/Dynamite600 5h ago

Just accept the game wasn't for you and move on. Not everythings gotta be tailor made for you.

u/MidniteCowby 3h ago

That's what people said about the ZZZ TV gameplay who actually enjoyed it. But the game would be most likely dead by now if the had never changed it.

Something that I must admit, even as someone that really enjoyed the TV segments.

u/Dynamite600 2h ago

I see your point but at this stage I dont believe Endfield could remove the factory without harming the game nor do the devs want to.

Zzz devs made a kneejerk reaction and struggled to establish the story and characters as a result of it for a long time.

At this point we cant expect every game to be the same, and eventually people just have to accept that not everything will be to their tastes.

5

u/Alterated_user_229 5h ago

I'm not sure I follow you. Isn't it clear that I accepted the game wasn't for me? That's why I quit. Is it that weird of a concept that people quit what they don't enjoy? I even said my interest is gone.

6

u/Dynamite600 5h ago

You left in feedback that you wanted them to remove the main feature of their game lol. Its like loading up a CRPG and complaining its not an FPS.

5

u/Alterated_user_229 4h ago edited 4h ago

What's the problem with leaving feedback? The devs can choose to ignore it. Or follow it, like with TV mode in ZZZ. In zenless TV mode was integral at launch and was removed. Also, what I actually said was I wanted full automation so I didn't have to interact with the system. I didn't actually ask for full removal.

-1

u/Dynamite600 4h ago

So why say in your above comment you wanted it completely removed?

Either way there's nothing wrong with leaving feedback but as some point you gotta just accept that something isnt broken its just not for you.

1

u/Alterated_user_229 4h ago

I expressed myself badly. I meant I wanted it completely removed from my playtime. Full automation would mean I would never interact with the system, so fully removed for me, but it would leave it in the game for the factory players.

Also, as I said, I did accept the game is not for me. At this point even if they implement full automation it's very unlikely that I return, unless they also add other things I want. But the "it isn't broken" is debatable, since the game clearly underperformed economically.

3

u/Dynamite600 4h ago

Underperformed based on what? This graph is mostly BS and its for 1 platform in one region. The devs themselves have already said they have success in PC and console even in other regions.

Some of you clowns in these revenue threads have no sense of what is an economic success or not, lmao.

2

u/Defiant-Seat5425 6h ago

yeah, they dont learn from zzz sadly.

2

u/Alterated_user_229 6h ago

People still defend TV mode, but I only started ZZZ once I heard TV mode was gone.

0

u/Defiant-Seat5425 6h ago

kinda same problem with factory in endfield, cannot skip either and takes too much time.

i don't think its bad as it is, but its not a good mix with game focus on action gameplay.

1

u/White_Shadow7 4h ago

lol, 0 chance they remove it. They even said in 1.4 live that it would be more financially viable to drop it but they wanna stick to it cous they love doing it.

u/Defiant-Seat5425 2h ago

i mean its not wrong if they not greedy for more money, 10+ mil still lots of revenue any company will be happy to have lol
