Discussion Submission Restrictions Removed
So when I took over this subreddit several years ago, it was basically a favor for someone who was deactivating their account and they were going to be making a new one to take it back over. Well, it's been... a long time and I don't think they are coming back. (Insert dad getting milk/cigs lame joke here...)
I'm not as active on reddit as I once was, so I didn't really dig into the issues revolving around why certain members couldn't post in the subreddit, but I think those issues have been resolved.
I didn't create this subreddit. I will still check in here and there, but it's mostly been an organic community untouched by myself. I'll continue to allow it to be organic. Vote the good stuff up. Vote the bad stuff down. Message me if there's an issue.
Any volunteers to moderate are welcome to message.

Discussion Serious Sam Shatterverse is not it
Was super excited to get into this as an avid fan of the serious Sam franchise and boomer shooter genre. To my surprise this was such a letdown and the design trades in everything for a generic roguelike game. Review linked below

Beast of Reincarnation feels like science fiction disguised as spirituality
I honestly didn't fully understand what this game was trying to tell me at first. I went into it thinking the whole thing was basically post-apocalyptic Japan and there is some kind of Infection Going On, and the Protagonist is Immune to It.
Then came the First Cutscene with Shidou, and the Screen went black and the Game tells us about Blight and that Emma is not only Immune to it, but She can Absorb the Blight of Nushis she kills. Okay... Great Going... Humanity's Last Hope has got Some Secrets
But then the story started getting complicated.. Shambhala. Consciousness. Synthetic bodies. The Beast. Nanotechnology. Not revealed at once, but in Stages. And I started Getting Confused. Wait... Whaaat?
And as Brad's dead, and his Recordings connect a major piece, suddenly "reincarnation" started feeling less like a traditional spiritual concept and more like humanity trying to transfer consciousness between bodies, with the help of an AI and Nanobots, that has supposedly gone Rogue and become the Beast.
After that, I it was so much information Overload that I Gave up on Understanding the Story... Emma is Supposedly a Vessel, for the Elder Humans, who can not tolerate Blight, and that's why they developed her synthetic body, which has finished off enough Nushis, and now its ready to become the Host of the Elder..... Okay
Then what's the Oracle herself doing inside Emma's Body? If the Elder takes on Emma as a host, what happens to Violet? On the Other Hand, Beast of Reincarnation is also waiting for the Perfect Vessel. What happens when Emma Beats the Final Boss? What does Koo Carry to that Underground Medical Pod - Was it Emma's Spirit? Or Was it Violet's Spirit? Or Was it Nanobots?
My Brain is totally Fried. Felt more complicated than Inception!!!
Did anyone else get this feeling while playing? Or am I completely overthinking it?

Article [Game Review] Onimusha: Way of the Sword - An Action-Packed Welcome Back
"Onimusha: Way of the Sword is an action-packed welcome back that’ll give fans both new and old something to be excited about. It’s a game that respects the past with its familiarity while also inserting its own flavor to make it stand on its own against other single player narrative games while even paying homage to action games that more or less could’ve replaced it."
4.5/5 Stars

Discussion Brigador Killers Review – When the Best Tactic Is to Level the Entire City
I’ve just published my review of Brigador Killers, currently in Early Access.
This one really surprised me. It’s a brutal isometric cyberpunk shooter where you can fight on foot, hijack vehicles, jump into tanks and mechs, and basically turn entire sections of a city into rubble.
The destruction is probably my favorite part. It’s not just visual — destroying buildings and walls can actually change how you approach a fight, open new paths, remove cover, or give you a better line of fire.
The combat is fast, lethal and chaotic, and the combination of infantry combat, vehicles and mechs gives you a lot of freedom in how you tackle missions.
That said, the game is still Early Access, and it shows. The inventory and UI could use quite a bit of work, and some systems aren't explained particularly well. There are also a few visual inconsistencies with the dialogue portraits.
Overall, though, the core gameplay is already in a very strong place.
My score: 8/10
If you're into cyberpunk, isometric shooters, destructive environments or games that let you solve problems with increasingly ridiculous amounts of firepower, Brigador Killers is definitely worth checking out.

Discussion I Tried SCP: The Beginning… and Decided to Review It!
I honestly had a great time with this game. The atmosphere, environments, and overall sense of adventure kept me interested throughout. You can clearly see the effort that went into creating the world and its different locations.
It's not a massive AAA game, but for an indie title, there's a lot of ambition here.
If you enjoy action-adventure games, exploring different worlds, and supporting passionate indie developers, I definitely recommend giving it a try.
Worth checking out!

Video I played Brothers with my 9yo Son... and I Reviewed it afterwards!
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is technically a single-player game, but I had the idea to share the controller, effectively turning it into a father-son co-op experience.
What surprised me was how well this complemented the game... we needed to learn to share the same controller, to resolve all movement and co-op puzzles, all the while going through a fantastic story filled to the brim.
I made a full Gamer Dad Review about our experience, and the potential this game has to impart life lessons to the young ones and the bonding it creates between father and son.
Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XaXeBaLb28Q
Just make sure your kid can handle some harder scenes and emotions, I played it with Junior when he was 9yo.

Discussion Into The Radius 2 is a missed opportunity and a terrible VR game
Why is it when a game is being made that when devs decide to make a sequel they take away what made the predecessor are so good in the first place that they make it easy for sheep. Sheep with smooth brains that rely only on a Reddit karma in order to get anywhere in life. Sheep that need their handheld, and wanting to crank the difficulty down because they believe that video games are not meant to be challenging. They are meant to be “experiences”
All my experience with ITR2 is nothing more than a wet fart right after a crunch wrap. It’s nothing but a stale humanoid husk that reeks of laziness and predatory practices. Make out bones about it. This game is a scam. Whenever you see “early access” the game is going to absolutely tank so hard that the developers must be wearing concrete shoes.
What makes this game so terrible? The fact they removed everything went made ITR1 good.
Maps
Way back during “early access” whenever you were to teleport to another area, there was a teleportation screen that showed different circles for different areas. Back, then it was only the peninsula and the forest with the outskirts being added later and never touched it again. However, most of them screen was blank with multiple circles. The circles were seven circles, indicating that there were seven maps.
However, we were scammed. There are only three maps in the finished product with its predecessor remain supreme with only five Maps. Sometimes for this little added thing called “challenge” in order to get to an area in the predecessor you have to go through a whole other map.
Enemies
In ITR1 we had:
Sliders
Creeps
Mimics
Seekers
Fragments
Phantoms
BTR
What does ITR2 have?
Mimics
Phantoms (that was not in the game to start)
Creeps
Fragments
Alpha Fragments
Again, I ask, where is the challenge? Sliders were one of the most creepiest and hard hitting enemies in the predecessor, and they were still difficult to kill. Seekers on the other hand, you could not hear unless they were almost right near you. Both of these enemies were shock troopers to keep you on your toes and they were gonna give you one hell of a fight. Now….you get boring gun fights with mimics and one tapping fragments.
Also, enemy armor anyone? There’s that word again. CHALLENGE. When you progressed in the predecessor of the game through even more tougher enemies at you with armor that forced you to change how you approached combat. If you wanted a blaster armor, get AP or Slugs. There’s still ammo types in the sequel, but there’s no reason to use them… because enemies don’t have armor.
Also, why take away the fact that when you were to kill a fragment, it would spawn its “soul ball” for you to either shoot or melee or, if the impact was great enough, then it would one tap the fragment outright. Why not add more enemies or even the cut content enemies? Again, why does CM want to take away everything?
Weapons and Armor
Well, I can admit there is a lot more to do in the sequel when it comes to customization, with enemies being the way they are, you can’t make the argument, that “there’s so many more ways to play” when the environment does not compliment that statement. In the predecessor, the environment synergized well with the weapons you were going with. There was sniping points for the SKS, choke points for shotguns. Now it’s just fashion slop. There’s no reason to grind up for a Mosin when you can shotgun snipe everything. Don’t believe me? Get yourself an IZH or Benelli, laser sight. It solos the whole game.
The armor again is a good upgrade, but paints? Patterns? Why do we care when we barely see the armor or backpack for a split second?
Artifacts and Altered Objects
Where do I begin? In the predecessor there was a reason to artifact hunt, not only for money, but for hopes that you would get a healing artifact, the night eyes or the steps. It’s things like that that give an advantage that predecessor games have that these sequels don’t. Why take that away? In the sequel, the artifacts were just blocky pieces of black stone, which albeit looked cool, but there was never really a real reason to go after them.
Their new idea for artifacts? CM decided to use their altered objects in place for artifacts. A stupid decision. The altered objects are supposed to be ALTERED meaning the radius has turned them into something that they’re not. The old altered objects were almost unrecognizable. A toothbrush with two bristle heads, a clock that merged in with each other or tin, can that had multiple tin cans and wax buildup. Well, those are back…. But as artifacts…why? And their altered objects are now just regular objects… that glitch out and glow black… pinnacle of laziness.
Characters
Lauri and Eva are downright boring. It’s fairly obvious to know that they used generative AI for their voices. Lauri we don’t even remember, but he talks to us as if we’ve known him for all of our lives… except we don’t. And Eva it’s just another run-of-the-mill millennial written perky girl that has the same mannerisms as a Marvel character.
In the predecessor, we had Katya. Well, only a simple white statue, her voice actress did an amazing job.. and she was a real voice actress. She added immersion, depth and almost an unsettling feeling whenever we talk to her. The same thing can be sad with the other ashen statues throughout the radius. The radius doesn’t outright tell you what happened. It’s your job to piece together what happened. The world building when it came to ITR1 came in the form of those statues when you ran into them, they told a story. In the sequel… it has only a few moments like that.. but again the voices are generative AI. Lazy.
Multiplayer
Good. God. Why. Oh why does this game need multiplayer? When “early access” came out the multiplayer was absolute dog water. Every time another player died, his mic was cut. Models went into the floor. The helmets and backpacks trailed behind the player character. Shots never connected with enemies. And dear god the crashes. Every 30 minutes.
The game is about YOU as an altered man going into the Pechorsk anomaly ALONE. While multiplayer does add a little bit of flare it’s just not needed and the aforementioned bugs still persist along with the constant crashing. Not everything needs to be friendslop.
Closing
If you want a decent experience, please play the original game and stay FAR AWAY from this blatant sequel cash grab slop. The devs are not open to criticism as they have blocked people on X mentioning the games many flaws as well as their moderators banning criticism from their subreddits.
When games normally What their predecessors had or slap on the old “early access” tab before eventually going gold, it means the game is not going to perform well to the expectations of the consumer, nor doesn’t mean that the consumer is in mind. In this day and age, we have to vote with our wallets and I’m voting to stay far away from this slop. If CM is going to produce another sequel then by all means, I urge you to pass the project along to another company as CM is incapable of delivering an experience worthy to grace any VR headset.

This game is an Underrated Gem!! (Game Review)
I finally came around and finished Driver: San Francisco. Ubisoft really was onto something when they came up with a cop-centric action-driving game that gave you supernatural abilities. The game centre's around Hero Cop John Tanner finding his way around with his new found superpowers to take down his lifelong arch nemesis Jericho. And it gets you hooked. The game usually needs you to complete side missions before going along with the main storylines in each chapter but most of these side missions are enjoyable just like the story. Each of them have a character interaction before starting which gets you hooked instead of just dropping you in a just do it gameplay. The storyline was fun while it did get a little monotonous in a few chapters, most of it gets you excited for what's next, especially with the acceptably good voice acting and character work. I believe the story could've gone on a bit longer and had much momre potential but I'm not complaining about what I got. Just hope it was a bit more longer. The game mechanics is easy, simple as any driving game, but hella fun to drift. And then there is shift, the superpower you get of jumping into any car, any moment and driving it. You gotta try it to for sure to get what I'm talking about. I really do not appreciate Ubisoft as a company for a buck load of controversy they are involved with but when they hit, they hit good, good enough to keep the company running for so long ig. But yeah, as loved Driver: San Francisco is, I believe it deserves more eyes and recognition for what it was specially as a 2011 game.
Rating : 8.5/10

Discussion A Plague Tale: Resonance — A disappointing prequel
# I really wanted to love this game. I absolutely loved A Plague Tale: Innocence and Requiem, so I was genuinely excited to finally learn more about Sophia and her past. Unfortunately, after finishing Resonance, I mostly feel disappointed.
The biggest problem for me is what this game does to Sophia's character in *Requiem*.
*Resonance* establishes that Sophia already knew an enormous amount about the Macula, had experienced visions herself, had been subjected to experiments, and had her own connection to the island and everything surrounding it. And yet, in *Requiem*, she tells Amicia and Hugo essentially nothing about any of this.
That makes absolutely no sense to me.
Hugo is literally going through experiences that Sophia has already experienced herself, and she could have been one of the few people who genuinely understood what he was going through. She could have told him that she had experienced similar visions. She could have helped Amicia understand what was happening. Instead, *Resonance* gives Sophia this huge and important backstory and then expects us to accept that she simply never mentions any of it in *Requiem*.
A good prequel should make you look back at the original game and think, “Oh, THAT'S why she reacted that way.” For me, *Resonance* does the opposite. It made me question why Sophia behaved the way she did in *Requiem* in the first place.
There were also several story choices that I found very underwhelming. Leni is introduced without enough time to actually build a meaningful relationship with her, so when she dies, the game clearly wants you to feel devastated, but I simply didn't care about her nearly as much as the game expected me to. Compare that to the emotional impact of the side characters in *Requiem* — even characters with relatively little screen time could leave a lasting impression.
The same goes for Faro. His character suddenly being presented in a much more sympathetic light, followed by his death, didn't have the emotional impact the game seemed to be aiming for. And the reveal involving Irene felt more like a twist for the sake of having a twist than something that had been cleverly built up throughout the story.
I also really missed the choice between stealth and combat. That was one of the things that made *A Plague Tale* feel unique to me. In *Innocence* and especially *Requiem*, I loved having to decide how I wanted to approach a situation: sneak around, distract enemies, use the environment, or fight my way through. *Resonance* feels much more combat-focused, and because of that it often doesn't feel like the same kind of *A Plague Tale* experience.
There are also moments where the gameplay simply doesn't make sense within the story. Sophia's light orb is presented as essential for progressing through certain areas, yet somehow members of her crew — including Faro — can already be inside the ruins ahead of her. I kept thinking, “How did you even get there?” These little things repeatedly pulled me out of the experience.
The game is also **very short**. By the later chapters, I was honestly just waiting for it to end. That is particularly frustrating because the story introduces so many potentially interesting ideas — Sophia's mother, her visions, the experiments, the Macula, the island, Leni and Sophia's relationship — but doesn't give many of them enough room to breathe.
Visually, I did enjoy the game. The environments are beautiful and the atmosphere is often very good. There are definitely moments where it looks and feels like *A Plague Tale*. However, for me, the ambience and overall presentation are nowhere near the quality and atmosphere of *Requiem*. *Requiem* had a certain emotional weight and sense of place that *Resonance* never quite managed to recreate.
I also found the level design somewhat confusing. It wasn't always clear what was the intended main path and what was an optional area meant for exploration. I often found myself wondering whether I was progressing the story or accidentally skipping something.
And despite all of this, I don't think *Resonance* is a terrible game. There are genuinely good ideas here, some beautiful environments, and I enjoyed seeing Sophia's childhood and learning more about her past.
But as a **prequel to A Plague Tale: Requiem**, I think it misses a huge opportunity.
I wanted a game that would make me appreciate Sophia even more when I eventually returned to *Requiem*. Instead, I finished it thinking:
**“If Sophia knew ALL of this… why on earth did she never tell Amicia and Hugo?”**
And unfortunately, I can't get past that.
**Beautiful game, interesting ideas, but a disappointing story and a prequel that, in my opinion, weakens rather than strengthens Sophia's role in Requiem.**

Discussion The Almighty Backlog #402 - Marvel vs. Capcom
Hi all! I run a little personal review blog for the games I beat and cross off my backlog, and this week it's the turn of Marvel vs. Capcom!
I've been slowly working through the prior games to this, from Children of the Atom through the Marvel Super Heroes vs. games, and now I've finally gotten to MvC proper. I'm no fighting game master, but I do love playing them and sharing my thoughts.

Discussion I said it 😬 - Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is the weakest out of 3
Its just mid
As a franchise you evolve and get better but here isn’t of cooking you made a side quest
