Building my garage personal training studio and I’m struggling to find a setup like this. I wouldn’t mind a normal tool box but then I can’t sit at the workbench like a desk. This is a gladiator render and it’s not to scale but you get the idea. Also the gladiator set was a little different.

I’m trying to figure out the best way to set up my garage for basic DIY work on my cars.

The garage is about 3 m wide, 6 m long and 2.8 m high(im from europe) — roughly 10 × 20 ft with a 9.2 ft ceiling.

The length is fine, but at only 3 metres wide there obviously isn’t much space around the car. At the back of the garage I have some room for tools, storage and a small work area, but I don’t want to fill it with cabinets and benches and then realise I’ve made the garage too cramped to actually work in.

I don’t need it to be a complete workshop. I have a large driveway, so jobs where I need access all around the car can be done outside. The garage would mainly be for working under the bonnet, doing smaller repairs, oil changes and working underneath the car. It would also be useful for jobs that take more than one day, so I don’t have to leave everything outside.

My current plan is to use a low-profile trolley jack, probably something like a JCB TH33013, and support the car on either two or four JCB TH56002A jack stands, depending on the job.

What I’m mostly looking for are ideas on how to make the limited space work as well as possible.
Does anyone here regularly work on cars in a garage of a similar size? I’d be interested to see your setup and hear about any clever solutions, things that work well, or mistakes I should avoid.

I’m not trying to build a perfect showroom garage. I just want it to be organised, safe and comfortable enough for basic car work.

Been iterating on the garage since purchasing our home a few years back. Bucket list was the gym and all the fun things a family would want to do as well. Currently in between phases since just built up the free standing Husky cabinets and going to squeeze in a fridge/freezer where the chair is sitting. Open to ideas that are obvious or even off the beaten path. Overall proud with how it's turned out already!

Bonus pictures of the barn. Shelving cabinets in the garage were moved out to the barn for more tool storage. Drone/motorcycle/car work will take place in garage. Larger or messy projects like wood working/painting will take place in barn.

Painted everything white for visibility and installed two new insulated doors with wall mounted motors and higher lift tracks to take advantage of vaulted ceilings. Also allows for a lift later on if I decide to go that route.

Only other plans for the garage will be the floors. I want to keep the floor drains to will probably just refinish and polosh the concrete then seal. No epoxy or tiles.

Hey Everyone, saw these new Michelin branded tiles at Costco the other day and wondering if anyone has any thoughts on them or better yet a review. The pricing is pretty good coming in at just over $1000 CAD to cover a 20' x 20' garage. My main concern is protecting the concrete from Snow and Salt in the Canadian Winter.

I'm not much of a hook guy. I figured folks some folks here may be the most familiar with this territory so am inquiring:

I'm fabricating some wall brackets from wood for customized storage. Wishing to use a wood bracket as a base for a layered storage zone (wood cleat of sorts encloses the top of T.S. cut-off sled, over top which a ladder and machine out-feed roller stand will hang vertically from two long horizontal hooks anchored into the wood bracket. Available space & clearances are constrained and require hooks of certain dimensions.

The typical "7.5 inch" ladder hook ( as shown in the dimensional drawing pic) is close in profile but the dimensions are a little off. The other two pics show one of these ladder hooks that I [coarsely] straightened ... it's not quite long enough at measurement (A.) I require 8.5" of support surface or longer. At dimension (B.) I need a shorter drop than it's 2-1/4", something closer to 1-1/4" to 1-1/2".

The non-screw end can either be straight or with a small upturned hook.

Any products that might work? Thanks a bunch.

I’m having trouble finding 16” depth or shallower wall mountable cabinents taller than 30in. Ideally I’d like them to minimum 60” high. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I finally got rid of the 1 florescent light in my garage and put in 7 LED drop lights instead. Cable managed the hell out of the lights (link led lights) with staples & zipties. I can actually see in the dark now. I also wired up one of them fancy switchable outlets to turn all the linkables off at once.

There's still a lot of tidying/storage needed to be done, but after only using the garage for 6 months and auto projects every other week, it's finally coming together in a way in cool showing off.

Securing Ramps to 4 Post

Looking for some suggestions on how to secure these ramps to my 4 post lift. Since they extend out past the garage door and floor onto the driveway which is pitched away from the door as well, and since the ramps have a knife foot which consequently means it's not flat on the driveway, I get ramp bounce ups on the end that attaches to the lift runway when driving up the ramps.

I'm thinking of alleviating some of the gap that's at the foot with a rubber wedge similar to what people use when they need to get around a lip into their garage. I'm thinking with a rubber wedge I can flip it around so that the thicker part is under the lip of the knife foot and then it would taper up to where the knife foot stops.

But I think the other half of the puzzle is getting the ramp to be secured to the runway so that it can't pop up. I've tried bungee cords but it's not the right approach because bungee cords are too forgiving.

Whatever the suggestion is I would like it to be somewhat easy to apply and remove when I need to attach and detach the ramps.

I've got the new section painted but this is a lot of work! The 2 ton mini split is absolutely gold.. I can spend hours in here comfortably and highly recommend you insulate and add air. I need ideas on a little bar/workbench/tool area in the corner. Thinking about the max jack lift even though I built the one bay high enough for a full size. I think now having the ability to move the lift is desirable. Do yall think a 4 post on casters would work?

I finally had some time to work on the garage and started the exterior. I had the top fur of the window and door that i removed in order to be safer if water would go There . More to come hopefully i also received my sheets metal for interior .

Birdhouse. Nope. Birdgarage.

Garage floor and walls done in May. Really enjoy this space now.
