๐Ÿ๏ธ My First Long Solo Ride โ€” Indore to Delhi | June โ€™26

This trip was in June โ€™26, and it was a pretty special one for me because it was my first long solo rideโ€”and my first bike too!โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ

I started my ride from Indore to Delhi at around 7:30 AM, taking the Mumbaiโ€“Agra Highway. The weather was really nice that dayโ€”slightly rainy at times, but overall perfect for riding. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐Ÿ๏ธ

Since the bike was still in its break-in period, I didnโ€™t want to ride at high speeds. I took breaks every 100โ€“150 km and tried to keep things relaxed. Although, at a few points, the excitement got the better of me and I did cross the 100 km/h mark ๐Ÿ˜…

I finally reached Noida around 11 PM

The ride was honestly fun, but boring at the same time. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I regularly see so many riders on this highway because my office is near this route, so I was expecting to meet or at least ride alongside a few bikers. But surprisingly, that day I didnโ€™t see a single rider!

The bike itself was absolutely amazing.

Ride quality โ€” amazing. Stability โ€” CRAZY ๐Ÿคช Brakes โ€” damn good.

I never faced any major issue with the bike throughout the ride.

There was, however, one small issue right at the beginning. Because of the bumps, the battery terminal became loose which caused the ECU malfunction/check light to pop up. After around 100 km, I stopped at a TVS service centre and got it checked.

They fixed the issue pretty quickly. It took around an hour mainly because the showroom was just opening and the staff were still arriving. ๐Ÿ˜… But they did a good job, and I was back on the road.

Around Gwalior, I stopped for food and then continued towards Agra. From there, I took the Yamuna Expressway towards Delhi.

And yesโ€ฆ it was my first time paying a toll for my bike! ๐Ÿ˜‚

If I remember correctly, it was around โ‚น150 in total for two toll plazas.

Overall, I genuinely enjoyed the experience of riding solo. Thereโ€™s something different about being alone on a long highway with nothing but the road ahead. โค๏ธ

The return journey was a completely different story though. ๐Ÿฅต

The weather was HOT, and it was absolutely killing me! I had to make multiple stops for water and food. I also visited Prem Mandir, prayed for a while, and then continued my journey back towards Indore.

Finally reached Indore around 1 AM ๐ŸŒ™

At that time, my riding gear was pretty basic:

๐Ÿ‘Ÿ Sneakers

๐Ÿ‘– Jeans

๐Ÿงค Rynox gloves

๐Ÿช– TVS helmet (DOT + ISI certified)

But for my next long ride, the first upgrade is definitely going to be a proper riding jacket. Safety first! ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ

And nowโ€ฆ I'm planning something even bigger. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

๐Ÿ๏ธ Home is around 900 km one way.

That means roughly 1,800 km round trip!

And this time, itโ€™ll be around the holidays.

Wish me luck! ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ”ฅ

Fuel cost- 5600 for round trip

Letโ€™s see how the next chapter of this journey goes. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ๏ธ

#Query โ“ Zero engine oil after service!

Post image
61 Upvotes

Posting this out of sheer frustration and to warn other riders in Bangalore.

I gave my TVS Ronin for service at TVS - Prakruthi Mobikes (Jalahalli Cross, Bangalore) on 29th August . After two days(31 august), I picked up the bike. While riding it back home, I noticed a weird noise coming from the bike.

Today (1 sept), I checked the engine oil, and there is literally no engine oil in the bike. They either drained the old oil and completely forgot to fill new oil, or filled far less than required.

I knew TVS service had a bad reputation, but this level of sheer negligence is dangerous and unacceptable.

I have made a video also for proof of check the oil and wiping on a tissue and there no engine oil.i feel my worst decision was getting a tvs vehicle.

Before I ride or tow it back to them, I want to handle this properly:

  1. How should I approach the service center? Should I make them tow it back at their cost?

  2. How do I ensure they inspect for engine damage without them just quietly topping up the oil and claiming "nothing happened"?

  3. Consumer Court / Legal Action: I am furious and want to file a complaint under the Consumer Protection Act. Has anyone here gone through this process for auto service malpractice? What evidence do I need to collect now?

If you are from Bangalore Avoid this service center at all costs.

Edit- just check again with better light the engine is completely empty it's dry. Have raised a complaint against the service centre, but I don't think that enough. Does anyone have any conteact/mail id to contact that could help. Will be contacting the manager of the service centre tomorrow. Also have a video showing clearly the Engine is empty/dry. I rode the bike and fear of the engine is damaged some wierd sound is coming.

Disclaimer - used ai to fix the grammar and shorten the post.

#Review ๐Ÿ“ Went from a Honda Aviator to an Ultraviolette X47 - Initial Review

Thumbnail

Recently picked up an Ultraviolette X47 Original+ in Stellar White from the Lake Town showroom in Kolkata. I have only done 69 km so far, so consider this strictly an initial impression rather than a proper ownership review.

For context, my previous two-wheeler was a Honda Aviator. So yes, going directly from a scooter to this is quite a jump.

The first thing that caught me off guard was the throttle response. There is no build-up, no gear waiting to enter the powerband. You twist the throttle and the torque is immediately at the wheel. Even going from 0 to 30 km/h feels hilariously quick compared to what I am used to.

I know comparing it with something like a KTM 390 would not really be fair because they are completely different machines, but the sensation from standstill reminds me of that strong first-gear shove you get from a powerful ICE bike. Except here it just happens instantly and almost silently. The whole bike feels like one big mass being pushed forward at once.

Mine cost roughly โ‚น4 lakh with the accessories and radar/tech package. It has the 7.3 kWh battery and a claimed range of around 210 km, which is more than enough for how I intend to use it.

The surprise for me, though, has actually been the suspension.

Kolkata roads have given me plenty of potholes, broken sections and water-filled surprises already, and at 20 to 30 km/h the X47 just seems to glide through most of them. I expected the performance to impress me. I did not expect the ride quality to impress me this much.

The seat is also very comfortable so far and the riding posture suits me really well. I am around 6 feet tall, can comfortably flat-foot it, and the handlebar position feels natural. The overall stance reminds me somewhat of an ADV/crossover layout rather than a committed sports bike.

The low centre of gravity helps massively too. The battery sits centrally and low, so despite the bike's weight, it does not feel awkward once you start moving. Weight distribution feels very well sorted.

There are three riding modes: Glide, Combat and Ballistic.

I have spent most of my time in Glide. For Kolkata traffic, I honestly don't see much reason to use anything else every day. There is already enough response for overtakes and gaps, and it should give the best efficiency.

Combat sits in the middle, while Ballistic gives you the full performance. Ballistic is properly quick, but obviously there is a range penalty if you keep riding like that.

Top speed is claimed at 145 km/h. I have absolutely no intention of testing that on Kolkata roads anytime soon.

Another thing I am enjoying is regenerative braking. Letting off the throttle immediately starts slowing the bike while putting some energy back into the battery. Ultraviolette talks about fairly significant energy recovery through regen under the right conditions, but I am not going to make any range claims yet. I need a few proper charge cycles before I can tell whether it makes a meaningful difference in my usage.

Coming from a scooter, the safety electronics are another huge upgrade for me. ABS, traction control and the different levels of electronic intervention make the bike feel much more sophisticated than anything I have personally owned before.

Charging has also been simpler than I expected. I received the standard roughly 1.3 kW charger, and a 0 to 100% charge of the 7.3 kWh battery takes around six hours. For me that is perfectly fine because this will mostly be used for office commuting, city rides and going out with friends.

There is a faster Boost Charger available, but I skipped it for now. I don't tour often enough to justify it.

The EV sound is probably one area where I am neutral. You get that typical electric motor whine, basically a futuristic zzzzz as you accelerate. It is cool initially, but I have heard EVs with more interesting sound signatures. Then again, buying an EV and complaining that it doesn't sound like an ICE motorcycle would be a bit silly.

Pillion comfort seems quite decent once you're seated. Getting onto the pillion seat can be slightly difficult for shorter or older passengers because of the height. My father managed it, but it definitely required a little more effort than getting onto a scooter. The grab rails themselves are good.

The tech side is another reason I liked the bike. There is navigation on the bike, and the companion app lets you check things like battery percentage and vehicle location remotely. A lot of the bike settings and information are accessible through the phone as well. Having live location tracking is particularly reassuring from a theft/security perspective.

So after only 69 km, my impressions are basically:

The acceleration is addictive, the suspension is much better than I expected, Glide mode is already enough for city riding, the riding position works brilliantly for my height, and going from an Aviator to this feels less like upgrading my vehicle and more like skipping a couple of generations entirely.

Of course, the interesting part starts now.

I want to see what real-world range I actually get in Kolkata traffic, how the battery behaves after repeated charging, how much regen contributes, what running costs look like compared with petrol, and how Ultraviolette's service experience holds up.

First service is due at around 1,000 km. I bought the bike from the Ultraviolette showroom at Lake Town, Kolkata, and I was also told that another location around the Science City side along with service support is planned, which would make ownership much more convenient for people on that side of the city.

I'll probably post a proper update after a few thousand kilometres or around six months, including actual electricity cost versus what I would have spent on petrol.

For now though, 69 km in, I am having an unreasonable amount of fun with this thing.

Use case :
Around 1km daily office commute , Noida
Occasional short trips 200-300km once a month
And mostly city use

All 3 test drives done:
Personal preference, scrambler > CB350~Apache

My dilemma is even though my first pref is scrambler , the issue is for my exact use case it makes no sense , its expensive, lowest mileage out of all , and i wont be touring a lot for the first year of purchase .
On the other hand apache 200 is really fun flickable high revving fast , a really awesome city bike and perfect for my use case , but since i cant find much reviews about it (not even motorinc) , im not sure about its longevity , but i will be using it for max 2 years anyways
And talking about honda , i like it , its sound and torque is awesome, capable of long rides , but its sound common and its a RE like bike , very safe choice nothing special , just not able to pick it , it aint vibing with me much

#RoadTrip ๐Ÿ›ฃ๏ธ My First Solo 500 KM

Thumbnail

It was Rakhi, and I wanted to surprise my sister by visiting my village (80 km from Mandi). I live in Gurugram, and all my roommates were going home on their bikes. Although they're from Dehradun, which is a comparatively shorter distance (250 km), and they had bigger CC bikes (Harley Davidson X440).

On the other hand, the distance to my home was approximately 500 km, and I own a TVS Ronin 225cc. I always wanted to go home on a bike to see for myself what my bike is capable of, and more importantly, what I am capable of. I had never ridden a bike for more than 100 km in a single day, but this time I was mentally prepared.

I borrowed a good helmet from a friend, since I only had the one the showroom guys give you. I ordered 4 bungee cords from Zepto, 2 for each bag, just in case, as I was carrying my office laptop (the one I'm typing this on right now). I also ordered some plastic bags to use as makeshift rain covers for my luggage.

The day before, I slept around 12:30 AM and woke up at 4. I had my black coffee, put on my Alpha Tactel trunks from the XYXX brand (better than Lux and Jockey, IMO), and layered them with cycling shorts from Decathlon since I didn't have a gel seat and needed to save my bum. I wore my Woodland shoes, as they give me confidence while riding because of how sturdy they are. I prefer them over any sneaker.

I tied my luggage to my bike and started around 5 AM from Gurugram. Honestly, I was afraid for the first 45 minutes, but I kept going.

Slowly, I started enjoying the ride, and my heart began pumping smoothly. You won't believe it, but I took my first break after 160 km in Karnal, where I ordered another black coffee at a roadside dhaba, used the washroom, adjusted my cycling shorts and underwear, and got back on the road.

I took my second break in Ambala, and instead of entering Chandigarh, I took a left onto Sirhind road, then went through Kurali, and near Kiratpur Sahib took the turn toward the Bilaspur four-lane. I covered my first 400 km in 5 hours, averaging 90-100 km/h with a top speed of 130 km/h (yes, that's the max I've tested on the TVS Ronin).

The last 100 km took me 3 hours, understandably, given the hilly and curvy roads and thanks to Google Maps for directing me onto a single-lane village route in Himachal.

Either way, after all the beautiful highways, canals, and green fields of Punjab, followed by the hills of my Himachal, I reached home around 2:30 PM, surprised my family, and celebrated Rakhi with them.

This may seem like a stupid decision to many outside this community. It may be risky, without any real cause or reason, but I'm glad I made this "stupid" decision, and I'm proud of myself.

Just a reminder: your bike's CC doesn't matter. What matters is how much CC (caliber and courtesy) you have in yourself. The bike is secondary and you are primary.

Things to watch out for:

Please have proper gear. If you don't own any, like me, borrow it from someone who does, or improvise (jugaad). You don't need a tail bag or top box; ropes work just fine. You don't need to ride with a full crew; you and your bike are enough. You don't need cameras, intercoms, or any other tech ; you just need to sync with the mechanics of your bike.

Keep riding, guys. I'm also planning to save up for a riding jacket and a proper helmet. I'll join you all again soon with another story in fact, I'm heading back to Gurugram this Saturday, so maybe I'll post another one then, if the mods let me. :/

I'm happy to answer any questions about the TVS Ronin. If you're thinking of buying one, feel free to DM me.

Products/equipment I recommend:

  • TVS Ronin โ€” for sure
  • SMK Typhoon helmet โ€” for sure (though there's still some wind noise, but I don't think any helmet fully eliminates that)
  • Decathlon cycling shorts (if you don't have a gel seat)
  • A windshield โ€” a very useful bike accessory; I got mine from SKD Bike World, Karol Bagh
  • Alpha Tactel trunks and the Ozone UV Protection Parka Jacket from XYXX (less sweat and better sun protection, respectively)

Plus dont buy this rain jacket from Zeal called waterfighter. it started to torn out within just 2 months. thankfully it did not rain that day.

OC post: No AI has used it in the making.

Back last year, I got my Axor Apex for 3700INR. For me, it was the first premium helmet at a very approachable price point.

But yesterday, I got my LS Stream 2, 7800INR. I purchased this after asking a lot of redditors in DMs. Thanks guys.

I selected it over the MT and KYT just because when I was trying the helmets, only the LS gave me a comfy fitting without squishing my cheeks too much.

Here are my initial thoughts after a 230km ride. And this is truly based on what I felt.

1) Looks: I have to give this to Axor. It is made to look better. Where as, LS2 has a very timeless design that is made to function. If I have to give an analogy, Axor Apex is like a Gaming laptop and LS2 Stream is like a modern ThinkPad. Cool in a corporate way.

2) Visibility: Give a man an Axor and he'll feel what Anxiety feels like. With Axor, you have to do a lot of head turning. You can't just side eye the mirror and be relaxed. LS2 has a better vertical and horizontal viewing angle. Less neck movement which is very important people.

3) Visor dismount/ Visor mechanism. I have to give this to Axor Apex. Once you dismount the visor one time, it's a lot natural. And if you're an "axor ball knower". You can slap the visor on and off. But not in a negative way. The mechanism is that good. With LS2, it's a little bit more involving. Since you have to pull and turn the visor to remove it. But LS2 ensures that your visor will have a better and tighter fit.

As for the opening the visor, LS2 has a push lock and axor has a traditional, push to open without a lock. I prefer Axor here just because in Guargaon, in stop and go traffic, you can't keep the visor down for a long time. It's suffocating.

4) Weight management. Oh boy, here we go. I want you to understand something, I'm a hobbiest power lifter. And I have a "NECK" in all caps. So I never understood the whole thing about "Axor being heavy" sentiment online.

In fact, the only time I ever feel tired with an Axor Apex is when I'm on 500km+ rides.

When I picked up the LS2, the helmet did feel lighter. Not by a lot though. But what made me impressed is the weight distribution. It's so much better that it made me understand what I was missing with owning the Axor.

5) Wind noise. I'm disappointed reddit. Y'all clowned Axor about the wind noise but LS2 is just 4-5% better at blocking the noises. I always use ear plugs on rides so it's not that big of a deal. But for 2x the price, it's not a significant drop in noise.

But one good point, in Axor Apex, when you open the vents on the top of the helmet. The wind noise increases a lot. With LS2 Stream 2, I didn't felt that to be a significant amount.

6) Vents/ Padding/ Overall quality of the materials. This is where you see a significant difference. The plastics and the cloth materials en the LS2 Stream 2 are so much more premium.

And you get a very sturdy D lock, the way you snug padding is more firm and the vents are better. Very crisp and not flimsy at all. It's a more premium experience and this alone for me is enough to get this over the Axor.

7) Ventilation: Axor has better upper ventilation and LS2 has a better front ventilation and in my opinion, that's a win for the LS2 because the front vent decides if you get suffocated or not.

8) Spares. LS2 spares are expensive. Which is expected.

Now here is what I will do for now.

I will spend another 2K on my Axor to get new padding and a visor. Then I'll buy matt carbon fibre vinal to wrap it.

6)

#Review ๐Ÿ“ EPS Cracks on the AGV K1s. Poor build quality and a waste of money.

Thumbnail
gallery
44 Upvotes

I started riding last year (March 2025) and got myself my first motorcycle and helmet- AGV K1s. I went with AGV trusting them as a known global brand. I bought it from a credible store in Gurgaon that imports AGV Helmets. Paid about 28k if I remember correctly. It fitted me well and felt great on my rides, I also toured with it.

Fast forward one year and just 4500kms later, when I was getting an Intercom fitted at the same store where I bought the helmet, I noticed that there are cracks on the EPS, once the inner liner was removed and the EPS got exposed.

This was quite shocking to me as by God's grace I have not been in an incident nor has the helmet ever fallen.

I spoke to the store staff, to no avail. Wrote to the store owner, who was more helpful and said he got in touch with AGV, and they said they can "Replace the EPS" if I can ship it to Italy at my expense. The cost of this was about 18-22k and therefore not feasible. I'm not sure what exactly went on here since I was not privy to the communication between the store and AGV, but at any rate I don't think any major manufacturer replaces the EPS liner as repair.

I then wrote to AGV customer care directly and they shirked any responsibility, over a correspondence of 2-3 weeks.

Absolutely gutted to find myself in this situation. Most likely, either there was a manufacturing defect at the time of purchase or the EPS just cracked on its own. How, I could not tell you.

I was thinking of upgrading to K7 prior to this incident, but will now be avoiding AGV products in the future.
