I've been at this construction company for about a week now.. Man, things are so different here. We were all issued with PPEs(Personal Protective Equipment), that is helmet, gloves, safety goggles, safety boots and a mask. All people at the site must wear full PPEs at all times. It's crazy man.

Arival time ni by 8am, but hauwezi ingia kama supervisor hajafika so kazi inaeza from 8.30 hapo. No entering bila ID.

There's a mandatory lunch break everyday from 1 - 2 pm. The tools we use pale kwa site are in the very best condition. It makes the work so much easier.

Kazi huisha 5pm. Whatever remains ni ya kesho. Also, the pay is very good, 1000/= per day.

The foreman na yeye, ako very good. He's strict yes, but Hana story mingi, if you've ever worked in a site before unajua venye hao wasee hukuwa. Ukiona unachelewa, unamshow tu na ataelewa na bado utapata full pay yako, no issues at all.

Hadi ikifika time ya koroga, I thought Sisi ndio tutaingia ground but wapi, walileta premixed cement kwa truck na ikamwgwa hapo ndani, only 2 people were required to do the work. Yaani, huku, the place and work is very modernised.

Of course kazi bado inachosha, but as we wait for better opportunities, I'll keep on pushing huku.

Other strange things here: 1. Absolutely no music at all times 2. No working on Sundays or holidays 3. Saturday kazi huisha from 2pm tupatane Monday asubuhi.

Mr. Kasongo has actually done a good job building this stadium to international standards, but we all know one mashemeji derby here and we are looking at a millions in damages. We are always crying that Kenya needs modern well lit roads, modern schools, hospitals but we cannot even take care of simple cabros or the "chandeliers" installed by bwana dimples. Maybe the below average IQ of a typical Kenyan is to blame but we are not ready for first world infrastructure.

So yesterday I got chased by some random dude in gikomba. Mind you this wasn't my first time in the place so I don't know what he was on about, apparently I refused to talk to him when he was trying to take me to buy sweatshirts sijui wapi. I had my earphones on, and general rule of the place, { Even if you meet your dad in gikomba, there's a huge chance that that is not your dad and you may end up getting robbed. Kama ni yeye mtaongea ukirudi home, better not risk it.}

However, I was there because some girls I had met last week separately wanted clothes for reselling and buying from vendors would cut into their margins but they also did not have enough money to get a full bale so I pooled their money and took a bale and divided it then repackaged and sent it to them. This had me thinking that I may be sitting on a good side hustle, it's not the first time I've met people who need like half or a three quater of a bale to start a business.

Today I was overwhelmed with work and I just needed to cool off. I felt so much on my shoulders even in my life I just decided to take a walk. Then I saw a beautiful restaurant and decided to get in. Bro, I have just realised that I have never truly treated myself like this.

The tea is good and the place is good. The only time I do this is when I am doing it to someone's daughter. Not that I will be doing this often but y, I am happy I have realized there is goodness in self appreciation. Okay. I hope y'all have a good day and CBD is actually peaceful in some places.

Damn! I fell off. I got lost in the sauce. From never repeating a class in primary all through to high school, to stagnating in Uni. As we speak, the earliest I can complete my undergrad is 2029 making it 10 years since I joined. People perceive me with this type of intelligence, in its literal generic definition, based on my prior academic prowess but that person is gone. All the ingenuity and potential and ceiling praise for someone who plateaued long before they themselves were even conscious of it. I effin messed up and I have been punished severely but rightfully. What's eerie is that I have tried replaying the past events and every time, I arrive at the same result. Like everything happened the way it was intended and even if I went back, I would still act the same.

Now going back to the program, I don't feel any excitement. Everything is just so unsavory. I feel cornered and institutionalized by something I had already broken up with. My toxic ex, with a witty and sweet mouth, full of promises about the future if I see this relationship through to the end this time. How do you show up every day for someone you've grown to mistrust for the last 7 years? How do you reveal that incentive, the motivation that fuels you to build tenacity and push forward?

I was of the opinion, I start something different a new, but the financial aspect made it a huge impediment. I'm already a burden for how long I have dragged this and the kindest thing I could do is make it easier for those who have and continue to support my education, I think. Being born in a third world country with very limited economic opportunities, education proves a much more reliable path towards financial freedom, and so I have to see this through however much it hurts. Going to class, I feel like a gumbaru.

I am no expert in toilets and bathrooms, but one thing that completely irks me ia how poorly planned washrooms are, even in the middle of CBD(UoN I'm looking at you). There is no water, broken cisterns, no air freshener, a constant foul smell and water leaking everywhere.

What infuriates me is how pointless the work of the cleaners is. They wash and use all sorts of products just for the washrooms to go back to smelling bad 30 minutes later. I applied role ya casino dealer, got called to the interview, and passed. We started our training today. Training takes 3 months, and in those 3 months, you'll only be given an allowance of 300 kenyatta shillings per day.

There's the common narrative of victims of Luo Men. And so the rest of us are out here suffering on the consequences of the actions by our fellow tribesmen.

Came across this project called Build Kenya and honestly thought it was worth sharing here.

The idea is pretty interesting, and more importantly, it seems like they're trying to solve an actual problem rather than just building something for the sake of it.

Just came from an interview. And there's just sth about interviews sometimes that haves you questioning your capabilities.

It was an interview for an internship role. An Aptitude Test we did as a group and I talked to some of my fellow interviewees and it kinda had me challenged coz some of them mentioned about having had previous internships at different workplaces early on. And the organisations they talk about are either some big 4's or some big banks.

Well, I haven't really had some 'real' professional experience during my campus time, I worked some direct sales business that failed and I have been trying to work myself up, gain some relevant skills in my area of interest and just see into it that I grow by participating in competitions, working on projects and all that.

I hope all turns out well for me in the interview and I get to proceed into the next stage. It's a great organisation and I am trying to manage my expectations.

I grew up with a strict father, which meant no friends during childhood, and worse even during part of my adulthood.

But being brought up experiencing such solitude made me crave belonging… Like craving some type of intimacy that a romantic relationship can’t fulfill
