Was practicing anatomy and value so I did this sketch of a skull. Think it turned out good but if anyone has notes or anything major they see that could be better let me know.

When learning about how to draw humans I have been told to practice gesture drawing over and over and over, so I've been practicing it, this has truly been the most angry and frustrated I've ever been doing this. Im drawing all these gestures, but I feel no closer to drawing people. This place has been amazing for getting advice, i probably just need some rest. Your help and advice would be appreciated

Looking for some feedback here! Im still a beginner and have been practicing almost everyday, mostly focusing on form, anatomy, and light & shadow.
Im trying to learn how to choose different colours for my base, light, and shadows using the colour wheel, but I find it so confusing. I also get a little intimidated when looking at a reference cus I’m always thinking, “what if I choose the wrong shade?” “what if experimenting ruins the whole thing?”
{I know I’ll eventually understand it with enough practice, but I’m such a perfectionist in my head that I end up freaking myself out before I even try lol.}

How do you guys choose those unique colours that aren’t necessarily present in the reference, but somehow still work beautifully with the light and shadows?
Always blows my mind how some artists do this so naturally.

Would really appreciate any advice or resources for learning colour better!💫

i dont know what im doing wrong. this is not my first attempt. im learning the asaro heas to improve the anatomy of my heads and so i can draw semi realism but i feel as if it isnt helping or making me improve . heres some of my past art. !

New to drawing online, using CSP. I've been drawing a lot of cartoon-esque styles, but I've wondered if using a circle tool for heads is a bad habit to get into, or if I should just avoid it altogether and draw the heads free-hand?

This is the most challenging drawing i have done, as Iam still new to drawing.

I think this is because of a lot of foreshortening. At first that made me draw much worse shape, but then i utilized negative space much more and it became like the picture which is much better. But I know it is still far from perfect, so feel free to give feedback!

Are they any good? Prob not😅 but oh well its definitely better than when i started.

The jaw is definitely the hardest to figure out. The left side especially. BUT, IM PROUD OF THESEEE even if they arent anatomically correct

this sort of exercise centers around one vanishing point and i understand that each cube is tied to it. but it seems like there are no other things which connect the other cubes. each cube has its own other vanishing point (or points for the 4 in each corner.) i just dont understand how youre supposed to know at all where these points lie. i thought 1/2/3 point perspective can describe a scene but it seems like it can only describe an object within a scene

help! how do i figure out where to put the vanishing points of each square! i have no clue how to correct myself when i do this exercise!

I like the pure blue background, but clouds might be nice? But if I add them, it could take away from the main subject. I just draw as a hobby, so any ideas?

I feel like I have reached a stalemate that every artist has where I have stared at this very rough concept of a poor skunk oc of mine for too long and desperately need outside advice.

Question one: which presentation looks better?

Question two: are the colors used for this OC cohesive or work well together?

Question three: are there things I can add or do to make this look less "color vomit" and more "approachable creature"

Just updating from my post a few days ago. I’m still trying to learn to piece everything together. Not at all a spectacular artist yet i know; I got too confused trying to figure out how to draw the head. I sort of worked out some other problems while drawing that I fixed to the best of my abilities, but I can feel there are a lot of other problems with it that I can’t quite define fully.

Last post seemed to get a lot of responses about using a reference so I tried that and it definitely helped, though I wasn’t able to eyeball everything into correct proportions, I think the figure overall looks better and closer to a human than before.

Overall just trying this even though I thought I wouldn’t be able to get as far into it as I did has me feeling like I can understand some books a little bit better now if I reread through them.

hello! first time poster here... i've been drawing for quite a few years (on and off) and i'd say i've improved quite a bit, but i'm still looking for ways to improve even more, particularly, i wanna improve in the way i draw heads, since i'm mainly someone who draws portraits, i figured if i just sat down and learned how to properly draw heads, id be able to focus on learning everything else afterwards, since, for me a lot of times when i draw it almost feels like i'm relearning how to draw the head every single time...

i also struggle with following most art tuts since i'm ND and have a hard time keeping up with a lot of the teaching, so please be patient with me!

As an adult, I recently got inspired to learn how to draw by looking at one of my buddies' art. It's something I had always wanted to do but work/effort/random excuses put me off from starting. Two days ago I decided to say "screw it" and just start copying some drawings I find interesting, but of course I want to be able to draw stuff on my own.
This led me to research various tutorials and guides (included the one in the corner of this subreddit) but a lot of those were like "okay draw this by following these instructions, or use grid line while drawing this other image, etc..."
Don't get me wrong, I understand why they are structured like that and they seem to work for a lot of people, but to be honest just drawing a photo of an animal or a small object I have laying down in my house, like many of those suggests, just bores me to the point I want to do something else.

So my question is, is there a guide or resource that teaches you the fundamentals and techniques while letting you apply it to things you find interesting and want to draw, or should I just bite the bullet and stick to those kinds of guides?

Lol randomly got the urge to draw for the first time the other day and have been having a blast! Any tips other than 'Just do it a lot'? Quite literally am at level -1. Am mostly interested in drawing with a ballpoint pen so far

i’m about to start art courses, but i wanted to practice a bit. i want to learn anatomy but i have adhd so it’s really hard to just sit and study

I've been continuosly drawing anime character faces for a couple of weeks because I hated how much different they are each time. But even after all this time i still cant draw them consistently. The difference is even greater when i try to draw them from different angles

I took a break but I’m back

Trying to learn anatomy and get more confident in my sketches and my foundations before actually diving deep into making the illustrations I want to make-- and to do this, I've started doing a daily sketch where I try to breakdown and recreate poses I find on the internet.

I tried this challenge before, and got burnt out in the 200s, but I don't think I was doing it as seriously before, and by the end of it, I wasn't putting in nearly as much effort as I should've.

Currently on Day 26, and hopefully it only gets better from here. Hopefully I'll still be at it so I can post again by the time I hit Day 40 lol
