Are the skies really grey? Does it smell? How long has it been going on? In your experience, how long does it last? Or do you just not know?

I lived in China for a long time, so understand AQI and I’m Australian where we have lots of massive bushfires.

Hello, My family has been to Malaysia now 3x and each time we visit Kuala Lumpur we make it a point to get prescription eye glasses. We've only been to Sungei Wang mall since it was near our hotel. Can anyone recommend other optical stores that locals visit with variety of choices at decent prices? My husband's prescription is quite strong so he usually pays $250+myr. We often wondered where locals go since eyewear in Canada can be $500+ ( depending on severity of eyesight). Thank you in advance. We are not limited to just stores in the central area of KL , but at least transit accessibility, via train or bus.

They are most accessible through Whatsapp (as many services also rely on whatsapp to communicate), where they send you the information for the walk. For example, my tour guide had a last minute change on my first walk, and she was just as informative.

Even then, they will always fit in time to let you try authentic Malaysian cuisine (or local Chinese food on the chinatown walk). The guides are always suggesting fantastic places to visit even outside of the tour.

Overall the tour is way too good to be free, so please tip them. You can either use cash or touch n go ewallet to pay them. They are incredibly passionate people and you won't want to miss this tour if you're looking for something to do.

Hi, I spent 3 weeks in Malaysia, 3 days in Singapore, about a month ago. And it’s my 2nd time in KL. I’m not here to talk about wages or living expenses. I’m not sure if it’s my vacation that’s blinding me or if my instincts are correct. KL seems to be a decent place to live if you are rich. Food is literally $6 USD (or about 50% of prices here). Taxi Grabs are about 3x-4x cheaper also.

But I spent a little around under $20K USD. I stayed only in 5 star hotels only (I definitely could have saved a ton of money and made the trip a lot less expensive if I just knew to stay in 4-star hotels), ParkRoyal (6 nights), Banyan Tree (1 night), Hilton Inn Langkawi, and Kimpton the last 2 days I was there. I shopped at Pavillion, both Sunway Putra + Velocity, Suria Mall + TRX Mall. I literally had AYCE Breakfast every single day almost.

You can actually buy Huawei devices, smart watches and Chinese cars like XPeng, BYD, etc, if you are a local.

Nobody seems violent, everyone is nice.

The things I’d say I did not like were. It’s hot and humid. Weird languages. Singapore was expensive and small. Singapore cars are simply a scam by price.

The thing is, I just can’t get over the fact that literally everywhere I walk it’s a living paradise for a person who loves malls, food, technology, and Asian people, all of Asia seems like a giant interconnected mall tbh, good food or drinks seems like it’s always a 5 minute walk away (I actually can’t imagine how other Chinese cities actually look like Shanghai or Beijing might be even more futuristic looking even tho it may be more expensive), and it looks pretty clean too for most part, depending where you stay, and it’s just not the same environment back at home. There’s no giant interconnected mall feeling, Asian people are a minority, and I have to actively seek out good Asian food here as well as it being more expensive.

Thinking of bringing my kids (below 10) for an end-of-year trip back homeland. Where should we go? For 5-7 days? (I’m originally from KL)

Hello amazing people, I just came back from my Malaysia trip and I already miss being there.
I loved the places. There are a couple of things I really liked, like being able to go out without worrying that someone will stab me or snatch my things.

The food was great. I’m from a place where the food has a lot of flavour and I’m a bit picky about food in general, but I really liked Malaysian food. The flavours were nice.

My favourite thing was the people. They are so fun to talk to and they like to talk and interact, which is great. I kept getting smiles and great conversations with people I don’t know. I had many conversations with Grab drivers, random shop owners, etc.

The weather is on the hotter side but pleasant, and I like it a lot. The most important and biggest thing I liked, and the thing I care about, is civic sense. No one honks for no reason, people know how to be civic.

I really liked how there is a balance of nature and infrastructure. There are many huge buildings but they are surrounded by a lot of trees and nature.

Everything felt very systemised and hassle free. The roads are clean, the people are nice, there is a ton of stuff to do, and the malls are gigantic.

I loved Malaysia and I would love to spend a long time there.
It’s on the expensive side but manageable for me.

Overall 10/10.
