Whats gone well for you lately? Can be anything…New Job, Graduating soon, Made a new recipe, went on a shopping spree, got a pay rise, smashing goals at the gym, are you relaxing after a busy day, read a good book recently, learnt something new, going to a concert soon, have you just bought a house, are you about to go on your Overseas Experience, discovered a new singer, have you read a positive article about something good happening in the world?

I’ve been feeling a bit overwhelmed, and anxious lately and New Zealand, social media, and honestly the whole world, just seems to be heavy, sad, and just negative lately. Which is why I thought that it would be nice to hear some good, refreshing stories as that always helps me feel a bit better. Perhaps it might make someone else feel better too.

I’m trying to figure out what direction I could take to build towards financial stability. I don’t have extensive qualifications, so I’d like some perspective on what my experience could realistically lead to.

I enjoy photography, psychology & working with people. I’m naturally very people-oriented and good at making people feel comfortable. I enjoy learning new things, I’m creative, and I’d like to eventually build a career that I can genuinely enjoy while also building my life in the meantime.

My experience is mainly in customer service, tourism, hospitality, sales, administration and guest experience, with some photography/editing experience as well. I completed high school but didn’t pass Level 3 due to health reasons, I did pass Level 2 with Excellence tho if that benefits in any way? I’ve been out of work since moving back to NZ due to a lack of employment and health issues but i’m eager to return to work.

**All schooling and work experience was abroad (Tourism thriving country). I only recently moved back to New Zealand**

Supervisor role duties
Barista & Baking operations

Stock/shopping orders
Managing day-to-day operations

Worked another cafe job, with less responsibility.

Tourism Company (#1 Travellers choice award) - Tour Assistant / Assistant Administrator
Admin duties
Guest check-in, bookings and payment handling
Handling enquiries and resolving issues
Photography, photo editing and digital delivery to customers
Market stall setup, tour promotion, sales and bookings

Private Airbnb (Owned by Grandparents) - Casual Assistant
Total operational responsibility, preparing and maintaining a high-standard private holiday home. (Mainly taking over as grandparents were in and out of the country).

Really just looking for anything to get going again & build financial stability.
I would appreciate ANY insights or advice.

They always have something every week, whether it’s Aussie on sale or Asia on sale etc but for the last couple of weeks nothing!

I’d love to hear from current or former students about what the learning experience is generally like in NZ.
Things like teaching styles, lectures vs. independent study, practical classes, assignments, and how much support or guidance students usually receive.
Just curious to hear how different people have experienced it across different institutions and courses.

Has anyone gone and viewed the rocket lab launches at mahia peninsula? Is it worth the trip and any recommendations on best way to view, how to know when they launch etc... :)

Trying to decide dinner, I understand that chippies are cheaper to feed big families, but I feel as if it’s more acceptable to bring home chip shop white packaging as opposed to Maccas. is this due to culture or nutrition?

Hi Everyone.

I’m really struggling to get work with no references left to use. I’m a teacher aide but have been off work for a year due to an injury. I’ve applied for many jobs which they have rung my references and loved my interview but then funding get cuts and then no job, back to square one.

What should I do. I just love helping our kids and I’m an amazing employee but it’s so unfair I have to have so many references. The ones I have are over it and now I’m just stuck. What can I do?

What do parents of young children generally do for work?

I have one child starting school in 2027 and another who will eventually be in daycare (husband and i are in a fortunate position where we get daycare fully funded for our children, and i generally believe young children should be socialised with others their age if the opportunity is available)

My husband works full time and makes a decent salary, but with the cost of living and everything, it's nearly impossible to have only one working parent. The major issue of course is that i'll need to find a job that works around school hours, which leads me to wonder what other people in my position do. My current background is in accounts and admin, though like many people who have worked as long as i have, i have a mixed background in customer service and call centre roles as well. I'm perfectly fine not having a "career" at this point in my life or even working odd hours/evenings, really just looking for ideas and starting points at this point.

How is old NZ currency valued, and is it worth more than face value?

There's a few old NZ currency for sale on Trademe but no bids that I can see. All auctions for currency is above face value.

My father has some old NZ $1 notes, which are in pristine condition (like barely circulated).

The notes are not just random, has about 10 notes with consecutive numbers.

How or where can this be valued?

Hello everyone! I’m Brazilian and I follow a few channels run by Brazilians who live in New Zealand. Some of them have been saying that a large number of citizens are leaving New Zealand. Is that actually true?

To me, that sounds crazy. New Zealand is such a beautiful country, and it has a good economy. Compared to Brazil, it seems like paradise to me!
