I thought of this scene often after my divorce, and the fact that it made me laugh instead of cry told me I made the right choice.

Ragebait. Everyone knows corner sleep is the best kind of sleep
87
u/SpartanDJinn 2d ago
Yeah, I sleep with it center to a wall, but if my window wasn't where it is, everyone knows they feel safest when they can turn their back to a wall, have their head against a wall, and just look ahead and/or down to the door scanning for threats.

My first place after I moved out my bedroom was just wide enough to fit my bed legthwise from wall to wall, so my bed was double cornered

I'll go even further; mattress on the floor
5
u/EragonBromson925 2d ago
I see your mattress on the floor and raise you a cot off of Amazon. Worked on the ship, works right now.
2
u/Yojimboroll 2d ago
I think a cot would be right at home in the perfect less furniture society of tomorrow
7
u/Jackoandso 2d ago
Love floor mattresses. Had one in our living room for a while, but my boyfriend hated it, so no it's gone and I have to go back to my normal adult bed
4
u/Yojimboroll 2d ago
Ha! Yeah I've just always loved the feeling of being closer the floor. I can roll around more
8
u/Jackoandso 2d ago
Same here. Also sitting on the floor is great. So many people don't get it
4
u/Yojimboroll 2d ago
You know im not sure i like furniture in general. Give me cushions, and blankets....in a pile lol

Okay but washing the sheets and remaking the bed is like 10x more annoying with a corner bed. I don’t need more friction between me and getting chores done.
60
u/Annelora 2d ago
Being an adult is knowing non-cornered bed is terrible because all of your plushies will fall off.
6
u/OverfistDerFissierer 2d ago
Reminds me of me as a child in my tiny ass bed, having like 1/4-1/3 of space of it to lie in because of my >100 plushies. I still don't really move whilst sleeping because of it

Literally planning to push my bed to the corner for this exact reason. I'm tired of arranging them how I like and waking up with them on the floor.
3
u/4IAmTheCure9 1d ago
My soon to be spouse is moving with me this year and We're basically scrapping whole room to make our bedroom here and that was exactly the first thing we made sure of when planning furniture positions. That + those nets you hang on walls to place more plushies on them

Honestly, the real question isn't "are you an adult" it's "do you sleep alone." Bed in corner obviously makes more sense if you're the only one using it, but it sucks if you sleep with another person. Then someone has to be next to the wall, they have to crawl to the foot of the bed or over the other person in order to get out, they can't have their own nightstand, etc.
15
u/MiniDehl 2d ago
I do the crawling onto the bed my partner gets on normally, dont see the issue then I can cuddle into the wall with my partner squishing me further, best sleep ever
6
u/0range_julius 2d ago
You know, I would agree that being sandwiched between my partner and the wall is pretty cosy. But it's just so annoying if I even need to get up in the middle of the night. And the nightstand thing is a big dealbreaker for me. I need a lamp and someplace to put my glasses and my book.

u/MiniDehl 2d ago
Eh im the one that takes one for the team and my bed is next to the window but the sill is basically big enough to act as a nightstand

What’s uncomfortable about a centered bed?
I agree corner is best, but it wouldn’t work since my wife and I both sleep in the same bed.
I guess I don’t see the uncomfortable part

Being an adult is putting my bed wherever I damn well please… therefore no part of my bed will touch any wall, it will be slightly off center near the middle of the room

I was told we were supposed to have a favorite spatula.

I not only have a favourite spatula, I have a bad spatula that is only kept around for jobs I don't want to use my good spatula for, in case it gets damaged.

But if you have it in the corner you can curl up agaisnt the wall, and that old bit of your brain is like ‘mmm cave’
6
u/bryce887766 2d ago
Also the pillows and blankets are less prone to fall off the bed

That’s basically “do you have roommates and need space in your bedroom for a desk?”
Bro. It’s hard out there. I can barely afford my room. I need a private place to work.

u/NOTTedMosby 2d ago
This is rich people propaganda. Not all of us adults have bedrooms big enough to NOT have our bed against a wall 😅
7
u/melancholic-scribe 2d ago
Being an adult is not only getting to put your bed in the corner, where you feel safe, it’s also getting a partner who sleeps on the exposed non-wall side and makes you feel extra safe

My ultimate goal is to have a bed which comes into contact with all four corners, or nearly so. I want the largest square size of a alaskan king sized bed (i have seen one which is 10x10 feet) within a room if nearly equivalent size, though realistically slightly larger for maneuverability. I want a true bed room

Like every true adult, my bed is bolted to the ceiling in order to maximize the usable floor space.

u/ImWinwin 2d ago
Well, having your bed up against the corner leaves so much more room for activities such as tinkering and playing vr games. I just realized I might not be helping my case here.

u/OSRS_Garmr 2d ago
My options are bed up against the corner, or having a normal singel bed, and fuck that, even if I am single.

It means having your bed in the center of the room to limit how many ways the spiders can sneak up on you.

If my bed was at a corner I'd happily take the corner side! Makes me feel safe and comfortable. It probably helps that I almost never leave the bed at night.

I am an adult so it means I can have a pillow collection (not decorative, a lot of different types of sleeping pillows) and there is only one thing preventing my collection from ending up on the floor. You know what it is.

Being an adult means you can just buy a whole ass birthday cake and eat it
You can also furniture as an adult, heck you can even buy cutlery
TL;DR adulthood was invented by capitalist to push the consumerist agenda

I like my bed over in the corner though. Gives way more floor space for deadlifting, situps, and VR. All of which would be really hard to do with a fucking bed in the way

It does not mean being an adult, it means having sufficient money. Lots of wealthy teens depending on their parents' money have their bed in the middle of the room. I can't afford a place with a bedroom big enough not to be in the corner.

u/Happy_Television_501 1d ago
The moment I finally realized I was an adult was when I was at a friend’s block party, and two children ran up to me and wanted me to settle a dispute. I was like 35 years old

Because there was no point in lying to myself about my dating prospects.

Or sleeping in the same room as your partner, but in separate beds each in its own corner. That is a valid option.
