Relationship DINK COUPLES

Are there DINKs (Double Income No Kids) in TZ? I feel like it’s rare to find such couples especially with how our community hasn’t normalized this lifestyle. If there are any here, please let us know your experience with family and friends. And how you’re able to avoid society pressures about having kids.

Tourism Questions around backpacking Tazania

Upvotes

Hi! I'm planning on backpacking Tanzania from Uganda (which is where I live and am from) and have a few questions regarding getting around and activities I want to do while I'm there (mostly hiking based) that I'm hoping you can help me with.

  • To clarify, the Tanzania Railway Corporation is still operating a regular passenger train service between Arusha and Dar Es Salaam? If so, does it stop in Moshi (which is where I'm going to be at the beginning of my trip). If not, how else can I get from Moshi to Dar and how much would it cost?
  • How much is a ticket from Dar to Mbeya via the TAZARA?
  • Are there any local hiking/outdoor groups/clubs based in Dar, Arusha or Moshi that organise hiking trips (day or multi-day) and other outdoor excursions that people can sign up to join? I'm not looking for a tour company. I'd love to be able to experience these activities with other enthusiasts rather than booking my own solo experience (though I'm perfectly comfortable with this
  • How safe is it to travel around TZ solo as a young woman?

Thank you in advance!

Edit: Also forgot to add I'm looking to travel through a work exchange platform called Workaway, but I think I might need a volunteer permit to do that since it requires voluntary work at beekeeping farms, women's emancipation organisations etc. Can I apply for one online or can I get it at the airport?

Discussion What's a business idea that sounds smart on paper but has quietly killed 5+ people you know in Dar or Just Tanzania? What actually killed it?

Kuna kitu nimekuwa nikiona lately. Watu wanakuja na "genius idea" halafu miezi sita baadae biashara imekufa kimya kimya, inakufa tu na mtu ana-move on.

I had this observation about this calorie tracking startup app by Zach Yadegari called cal ai https://calai.app, which he later sold kwa about over 100M$ after like less than 2yrs on market, kwamba Silicon Valley solves Silicon Valley problems, na ukijaribu let's say ku copy paste / likelihood hapa haifanyi kazi. You cannot tell a tanzanian kuna hii hapa App ya kutrack calories za chakula unachotaka kula kwa kupiga picha halafu the AI "describes your meal and get instant calorie and nutrient info." Then subscribe uanze kulipia solution. They don't need that, that's not considered a problem on this land. There is no ecosystem that supports that kind of innovation, Hiyo imenifanya nifikirie zaidi.

Industry/Agriculture Building a house

Could anyone please give me some contacts for good Construction companies and architects with some solid material at a low cost? My wife has both land in Dar and Dodoma. But we’re focusing on Dodoma

Seems like everywhere in TZ Construction companies want 200 million to 600million to build a finished house! They have great looking designs but still I’m not Elon musk! I’m looking to spend 50 to 70 million at most. Maybe even a payment plan is good

Serious Replies Only Moving to Tanzania

Hello, I'm 27F who'll be graduating university soon in the UK and I've always loved Tanzania and want to work and live there. Honestly, any major city is great with me.

I'd like advice and leads into where to apply for jobs/internships/fellowships or anything that can help secure me a position so I can migrate. I'd love to have an offer somewhat by summer 2027.

Any advice on which skills to build beforehand? I know the job market is tight on a global scale. So there's little to nothing to lose by trying!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much 🙏
