Hello I just got a 5070ti msi trio oc card and I was looking at the vram and I know that it is almost 16gb but its technically not and it bothers me a little bit. Is this common in these types of card to not be exactly 16GB? My last card had more then what was prescribed it was like 8.1GB while this card is short. I bought it off New Egg. The Vram is at 15995 which is very close but it irritates me lol.

I have been backing up all of my DVDs onto an external hard drive and it recently had issues. It is now showing “unallocated” but using DMDE I’ve been able to see the data is still on there. Is there a way for me to delete the two “new volume” partitions? It appears those are the issue. I have not been able to find a way to do so. I have a lot of data already saved so I would hate to start from scratch. I’ve already tried backing up but it only saved about half of the files. Thank you in advance for your help!!

My elderly father stupidly gave details to obvious scammers. I jumped in and stopped him but the computer sign in screen was saying blocked or something along those lines. I assume the scammers on the phone were about to ask for money for it but that’s when I took the phone and essentially told them to fuck off and turned the WiFi off. I know abit about computers and built my own by I am far from an expert. Is the clean install of windows enough? We’ve called the banks and cancelled the cards and changed a lot of passwords including the Microsoft one is there anything else we need to do/worry about. The scammers seemed like amateurs in a call centre and haven’t accessed banks or the Microsoft account it seems

So, i found out recently in my inbox August 29 that i got a message from claude in one of my sub google account and not my main one that a malware has been stealing my login sessions in my mac or other computers (windows Os) i went to activity and check CPU and try to see if there is any unusual programs running a background and there was nothing, I know mac has xprotect that runs in the background each time an application is running. This worries me quite a bit since a question arises like how do Claude even know i have malware in my mac? and how do i fix this? do i need a dedicated malware/virus scanner? since my mac m1 with the latest software has already r powerful built-in security systems that is i guess safer than considering windows.

Was having problems with my pc flickering when its stressed or screen goes black when a game stresses my pc. So i asked around. One person told me to delete old drives. I googled it and watched a video of uninstallong hidden devices. Ive uninstalled all the grayed out ones i saw.

Now my drive d shows up twice. One inside This Pc and one outside. And now it shows up as an ejectable..

Any way i can fix this?

I have had this computer for at least 5 years now with no issues up til yesterday when I suddenly had 2 random freezes in about an hour.

Once while I was watching a movie with friends in discord and the second while sitting in the lobby of a game while still in discord

The freezes stopped everything on the screen from responding but i could still hear my friends in real time and the movie still playing ( i only know this cause my housemate was in discord with me )

I did a little troubleshooting and found my riser cable for my gpu wasn’t locked in with the latch into the motherboard
When I pressed it in, it locked in! I have only ever takin my gpu out once to repaste it but never touched the riser cable in the motherboard side before so no idea how’s it became unlocked.
I haven’t had a proper test yet but I played a couple of games yesterday for about 40 mins and had no freezes!

Could this have been my issue? Could me just pushing in the riser cable a minuscule amount have fixed this?
Or is my pc just showing its age finally

I need to connect one PC with an RX 9060 XT to two TVs:

• 42" OLED in my bedroom
• Second TV in the living room, with a cable running through the wall

Both TVs use HDMI, but my GPU only has 1x HDMI and 2x DisplayPort.

Does a DisplayPort 2.1 -> HDMI 2.1 adapter exist that supports 4K 120 Hz, HDR and VRR?

I don't want to sacrifice any image quality compared to a direct HDMI 2.1 connection. Streaming isn't an option, nor is any kind of lossy compression.

So all of my storage drives disappeared. I was logging off of a game, and after it saved my computer seemed to reboot, and my 1 TB D: drive was gone, along with all the games I had installed. The only thing left was my C: drive of 237 GB. I tried rescanning for drives in disk management and nothing showed, and file explorer doesn't let me add a new one in "This PC". I'm lost and confused.

hello, im currently emptying my cloud storage and putting old photos and videos on my laptop. as i deal with all the unzipping of folders and merging them i encountered multiple times the option to replace or ignore files that have the same name. after replacing them quite a few times then ignoring it once « to see if it does the same » i realised that maybe i shouldve verified the files first… so i did and realised that i deleted a few hundred files that were certainly different.
i think for the last one that i chose to ignore then i deleted that leftover folder i might not be able to retrieve the « doubles » and its ok cos it wasnt much. but can all the ones i chose to replace over be retrieved like we can sometimes do for word documents for exemple?

Suddenly my wifi stopped showing , tried restarting and nothing happened? What do I do ? I got lenevo loq, please help me , no traces of it in vantage or device mamager

Laptop not detecting my sata ssd after a bios update

i have a the ideapad 330s-14ikb, i recently updated the bios and after i did that, it fails to detect my sata ssd and wont even boot into windows and just ends up at the screen where it says it cant detect a boot device, i also tried a usb with arch linux to try and see it if detects the ssd but unfortunately it doesnt see it in lsblk, is there a fix to this?

note: sata configuration is not available/not an option inside the configuration tab

another note: i feel like its trying to boot using intel rst but i dont have intel optane, if theres a way to reveal or unlock in the boot config that would be helpful, thank you!

My PC had a major freak out and crashed. Upon booting up again I tried to connect my wireless headphone to it only to discover the Bluetooth button is gone along with the WiFi and the other ones.

so i have a 4090 with 9800x3d running the latest nvidia drivers and i am about to rip my hair out. whenever im browsing the web or doing stuff in windows Os I get a black screen full fan rpm and hard reset that relates to nvlddmkm. i had this pc for 3 years now with no issues and just kinda started happening, this issue does not happen in games! or stresstest, only web browsers like firefox or chrome. i played battlefield 6 for a few hours today and the computer was stable, than some Indiana jones but once i opened a webrowser it crashed again.

here are the things ive done so far

1. Replaced 12vhpwr cable, inspected the connector with no visible damage to the connector.
2. reseat memory
3. DDU drivers
4. ran motherboard settings at stock settings with no xmp
5. changed the display cable to the monitor from hdmi to displayport

does anyone have any suggestions for me on further troubleshooting this weird issue?

I'm trying to figure out what could be causing repeated crashes on a PC after installing a new NVMe SSD.

Hardware:

• CPU: Ryzen 7 5700X3D
• GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti
• Motherboard: GIGABYTE B550M AORUS ELITE
• New SSD: Kingston NV3 2TB
• Windows 11 x64

The problems started after installing the NV3. To install it, I had to remove and reinstall the GPU. The installation itself was straightforward and the PC initially booted normally.

After that, however, Windows started behaving inconsistently:

• At one point Windows went into Automatic Repair.
• chkdsk found and repaired filesystem errors.
• sfc /scannow reported no integrity violations.
• Windows subsequently booted normally.
• Later, while copying files from an external drive, the PC froze/crashed and restarted again.
• On one boot, there was a brief graphical artifact on the AORUS logo screen (a distorted multicolored horizontal strip).
• The PC subsequently booted normally again.
• There have now been multiple unexpected shutdowns/freezes.

I have a minidump from one of the crashes.

I have sold my laptop recently.It was tuff f15 with rtx 3050.The guy I sold just sent me this photo.The gpu doesnt work good in furmark.It shows 100 usage but 10% vram.Simply it jyst doesnt work wel,the fps is too low.I am scared that it will be hardware based.Can someone help me

English isn't my first language and I'm really bad with computers, so I apologize in advance if I'm not being clear enough.

I've tried googling the issues and following the advice of some reddit posts, but I couldn't find a one with the same exact problem.

Some things I've tried:

1. Before I realized it wasn't an issue with Photoshop, I reset performance and preference settings.

2. The keyboard, mouse and drawing tablet have been individually turned off to check for issues but they're not the culprit. My mouse doesn't have the DPI gamer-button-thing, so that isn't a problem.

3. I've tried restarting the computer a few times.

4. I've turned off 'scroll inactive windows when I hover over them' in mouse settings.

5. I've tried to update and then later turn off the mouse driver.

6. Some other things that I can't remember right now.

The solution could be something so simple, but I'm really stumped and could use the help. Thanks for reading!

Problem.

I will play a game and it will freeze, pc lights will still be on, gpu fan will keep spinning like pretty much how it looked when the game didn’t freeze, and no error light from the mother board. Then after that freeze I would turn off the computer turn it back on, it will boot but then when the computer is idle or when doing demanding tasks or not the computer will say windows detect an error with a black screen and the computer will turn off and turn back on and then it will do the same thing again with the black screen saying windows detect an error.

Now I’ve found a solution to the black screen errors but I keep running back into my pc freezing when I only play a demanding game(not in idle) and it puts me back in the loop of the computer sending black errors.

Pretty much when everything is fine computer won’t freeze on idle or low demanding task but once I play a demanding game it will freeze on the last frame of the game and I will be force to do a hard shut off but then when I turn it back on with or without demanding task I get black screen errors.

Black screen errors send different error codes like

Things I’ve tried

I tried to roll back to older drivers even ones that people said where really stable

I’ve lowered clock speeds on the 7800xt

I’ve lowered total power on the 7800xt

I’ve tried undervolting the 7800xt

I’ve done all three or just the two and no undervolt

I’ve tried customizing the fan curve to see if the cooling was a problem

I’ve used amds overlay to see the gpu(hotspot) and cpu temps

I tried reseating ram, even cleaning the ram

I’ve tried loosening the cpu cooler/ taking it off and putting it back on

I’ve tried unplugging all power supply cables and plugging them back in making sure nothing was loose

I even tried electrical taping the exposed fan pins thinking maybe the exposed pins where touching the case or the back of the cpu causing short circuit or something.

I’ve individually tested each part for 30minutes in occt testers and everything came out fine

I even used memtest86 everything was fine

I’ve tested the ram in a different stable pc with and without expo and the ram was fine

I’ve testing expo on and off

I did test the computer without the gpu and used the IGPU and was able to play two matches of Helldivers 2 without a crash(usually get one crash per game with the gpu if I get lucky 2 but I always crash on the second one)

I took out the gpu pcie extender

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers

I updated bios, did a bios flashback.

Messed around a bit(prolly waste of time) messed with resolutions like 4k - 1440p - 1080p to see if vram is an issue.

There’s prolly more I did and I can’t remember but I don’t know why I can’t find the solution

all these parts are brand new besides the nvmes and gpu

The gpu I have only used for 3 months, didn’t like it cause it would overheat and turn off didn’t bother trying to fix it and bought a 5070ti,

I did repaste the gpu and check the temps for a while and the highest I saw the hotspot was at 85c in cyberpunk while the overall gpu temp was 75c.

Nvmes one was in a laptop I got in 2023 which was the 256gb one and the 500gb one I got in 2024.

Tomorrow I’m gonna put the 7800xt into my main pc and see if it crashes and put the 5070ti into the other pc and see if it crashes.

I keep jumping between the ram is culprit then after more tests I start to thing it’s the GPU then I keep going back and forth between the two.

I just came here for help, I don’t know if I’m missing something that’s right under my nose or I somehow ended up with a faulty party

I have a Rhode PODMIC connected by USB port on my pc, usually i use it as audio source with earphones connected by jack, and since few months now sometimes my pc change the audio port to my speakers and instantly to my Podmic again, it takes really 1 second but idk why sometimes happens. I tryed changing the energy savings settings but nothing changed.

I bought my pc from Newegg.com and I feel like that was absolutely the wrong choice. Idk if the parts are even good since I know nothing about pcs.

I use this computer for gaming but whenever I try to play anything (Roblox, Overwatch, Fortnite) my WiFi just turns off and it won’t turn back on unless I turn off my pc and turn it back on. I’ve turned on all the gaming settings that the YouTubers recommended and i did the power management thing for my WiFi driver/adapter. I think I might just need to sell this pc and buy from a better seller?

I have a 65" TCL TV connected to my PC via HDMI. Previously, I had an LG TV and everything worked fine. Now, the TCL shows an image during bootup (BIOS), but as soon as Windows loads, the screen goes black. The PC detects the TV, but the connection keeps flickering as if it's constantly connecting and disconnecting. I’ve already tried different cables and ports. Does anyone know if this is a resolution, refresh rate, or HDMI mode issue on the TV?

I tried to install cdburnerxp and it took me to a sketchy looking website where it downloaded a file called setup. I scanned it through virustotal and it said it's safe. Upon installing it, I got no wizard, just an app on my desktop called "unlocked" which apparently was from un-locked .org. Is this a virus? Should I reset my device?

Hi, I have an Oppo a96 that supports superVOOC 33w charging. Just around yesterday, the adapter had problems of it being a bit wonky leading to my phone with interrupted charging (I've tried it on a different adapter and yes, the cord works). I'm planning on buying a new adapter online and it seems they only offer either 35w, 45w, or higher. I'm worried my phone wouldn't accommodate or trigger the superVOOC charging if I purchase an adapter with a higher watt. I need advice. 🥲

So I’ve had my pc for a while now since 2019/2020 can’t remember exact year but this year March my cooler failed and I had to install a new cooler. My pc is also from pc specialist so I ordered a new one from them, after installing the new cooler my pc had been randomly freezing and restarting ever since then, I could be watching a movie and it’ll freeze or be idle and it will freeze. Ive done a couple of troubleshooting things like getting a new ssd, updating my bios (2025) f19 version, installing new chipsets, installing drivers again, stress test and a couple more. This never used to happen and only started I got the new cooler but also not to mention when they (pc specialist) went through my pc and check the logs/wvent viewer there were may problems that lead to numerous problems, they said the next step would be to try a more recent bios update and if that don’t work I’d have to return it for repairing which I can’t really do right now. I’m looking for all help I can get especially since I work from home

I currently have 2 monitors hooked up to my pc at the moment and I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to do like split input on one of my monitors. For example, I could have one monitor display half pc (displayport) and the other half a video I'm playing through my xbox/ps(hdmi). Almost like a picture in picture. Both Monitors are LG UltraGear 32GN600. Mainly trying to figure out a workaround from buying either an external/internal bluray player with DRM being an issue even if I just want to watch.
