Discussion Tf2 is the perfect money printer, but why doesnt valve put a tiny bit more effort in to reap aton more rewards?
I know this has been talked to death, but TF2 is still making money, and Valve seems to be maintaining it with a relatively small amount of development effort (possibly some contractors), while relying heavily on community-created maps, cosmetics, effects, etc.
Wouldnt it be more efficent though to atleast put a little bit more effort in, similar to updates like Jungle Inferno though?
You'd really just need a few new weapons a year, contract campaigns, and some balance changes.
Contract campaigns could just be reskins of jungle inferno and tough break, and people would be happy enough with that. That'd be decent money made with the campaign passes and the player retention would help
Balance changes would require a bit of work, but would result in some undervalued weapons being more expensive. If the smg didnt suck for example, its austrailam and other skins might increase in price. Variety also helps player retention too
Adding new weapons is the main time suck, but I doubt is insane. The models could be off the workshop, and coming up with, and coding a few new weapons a year shouldnt be a huge amount of work. Again as well, players would want skins for the new weapons so it helps monetarily, and again would be great for retention
Seeing as the MVM update is taking so long, maybe their cooking up an update similar to this, so hopefully we get some of these, and Valve decides that TF2, deserves atleast a tiny bit of effort
