Hello everyone! I am 18F, international student and recently got accepted into the bachelor of computer science program at UNB Fredericton. I have a few questions.

1) how is the winter orientation like? Is it similar to the fall orientation?

2) if theres any international student here could you give me some advice on how you landed your first part time job? I know ill be able to work 24 hours per week, any international student working how do you manage classes and part time job? Which days do you work?

3) when should i apply for campus residency?
I’ll be submitting my student visa soon, so im planning on applying for my dorm around late october.

4) how are the people at UNBF? Is it easy to make friends?

5) is the first year of BCS hard or easy? Im kinda scared as i know just a lil bit of python i dont have much knowledge about coding.

In my tuition statement it shows I have 3 courses, and in my academic schedule it shows them, but in Brightspace it shows no courses. Am i just supposed to wait until they are activated or something?

Would be nice to see them in advance, see if there are any textbooks, etc. i also work FT so i was hoping for some info ahead of time.

is everyone else seeing no courses in brightspace?

I am considering completing a Masters of Education degree at UNB and wondering what others experiences were. Were the courses synchronous? Did you find the program difficult while also teaching full time? Were there tests and exams (how were you graded?). Thanks!

Hello people of Canada! I am an international student who recently finished A level and I am hoping to join UNB in the winter 2027 if I get accepted ( hopefully). Just to confirm, do other people also join in the winter intake normally? And also how will my term courses even work? Will I be studying fall courses during winter and then winter courses during the summer? It would be great if there was someone else out there who also joined during the winter intake and they could share their experience..

I’m going into my first year at UNBF

I have a class in the Kinesiology building that ends at 10:20 and one that starts at 10:30 in Marshall d’Avray Hall.

Just slightly concerned I’m going to have to rush my ass up the hill, i like to be a few minutes early.

Another concern for me is I’ll be one of the last people to arrive and all seats will be taken.

Can you tell I’m overthinking this?

Im an incoming first year at UNBF and im just wondering if you have to move EVERYTHING out of your dorm room at Christmas break? I know theres the extended holiday res thing but without that can i still leave some of my stuff there?

What is the deal with parking at Unb during the school year? I’m in my final year but haven’t ever taken a car to school because I lived close by. Now commuting an hour (one way) into the city and wondering if I need to park somewhere else and walk to school? Or if the parking lots are not actually as busy as they seem. Just don’t want to pay for a parking pass I’ll never be able to use and currently have staff parking at hospital.

Is there gonna be any fun parties at unb before the school year starts? I know there is hoco during the school year

Hi I'm interested in joining the gym at Richard J Currie Centre but I haven't seen any clear images of the machines they have. Does anyone have any images or idea of what are the machines that are available?

I’m waitlisted for residence at UNB Fredericton and i’m just wondering how likely it is to still get a spot even tho move in day is in less than two weeks? The last update that I got from them was in July 13th saying i am within the next 25 female students ti get a room, but it’s now August 23 and I still haven’t heard from them. I just don’t wanna struggle looking for off campus housing especially since move in day is so soon.

I'm looking at applying to the Bachelor of Applied Management program at UNB with a concentration in Human Resources and wanted to get some feedback.

I hold a 2-year Social Service Worker diploma and have 15 years of office administration experience, including 10 years of payroll processing experience and 2 years of supervisory experience. I’m looking to know more about potential career pathways for someone with my background, specifically looking at a career in Human Resources.

I'm wondering how this degree would compete with a BBA in the job market for someone looking to begin a career in HR. BAM does not provide co-op so I would be looking to enter the field without any direct Human Resources experience.

Secondly, I'm in the process of applying for TDS funding and need to prove that this degree leads to an outcome in the HR field. I have sent a couple emails out to HR departments I was able to find the contact information for online, but haven't heard back about the informational interview request.

So I was wondering about people's feedback on whether you think this degree provides that career pathway. If there’s anybody here currently in Human Resources in New Brunswick that could help or would be open to a quick informational interview, that would be amazing!

TL;DR: will the BAM degree lead to a career in Human Resources and how does it compete against a BBA. Are there any local HR professionals here willing to do an informational interview with me for TDS funding?

Just got accepted into the online mba program at unb. Just wondering if anyone else here has taken it and could share their thoughts on the program? And did you have issues transferring your credits if you transferred out of this program?

So I’m in a position where it’s likely that I won’t be getting the placement I want at Dal for their mech Eng program. If I don’t get in, there’s a good chance I’ll be transferring to UNB to complete my degree.

Does anyone have any general information about how the program is? No bullshit, just say it as it is. If it sucks (not difficult, that’s a given regardless of the school) or the profs are bad or if there’s anything else I should know before considering a transfer, I’d really appreciate it.

If any mech Eng upper years have any more specific information about the discipline at UNB that would also be super helpful.

Hey everyone, I’m a first-year student heading to UNBF this fall for Business. I’ve registered and have my class schedule set up, but I’m feeling pretty lost because Ive barely gotten any emails about what actually happens on the first day.
I have no idea where my classes are located or where to go. I would book a tour but I’m coming from out of province, soooo I’m pretty lost lol. I’m also wondering if there’s an orientation event beforehand, where that takes place, and how we find out about it. On top of that, I’m not sure when or where they post information about required textbooks, course supplies, or syllabi.
Has anyone else received barely any information yet, or am I missing an email or portal somewhere? Any insight from someone in business or advice from upper-year students on how to prepare for the first week would be deeply appreciated!

Hey! Anyone here starting this Fall 2026 for the BN 3 year program at UNB SJ?

I’m 28 and going back to school has been terrifying. Not knowing what to expect and being in a university setting as a mature student makes me feel nervous. Any advice from my fellow mature students?

For previous nursing students, what is your advice? What should I go over now so my first semester flows better? Study techniques? School/study apps?

My background is medical laboratory science.

Regarding the scholarship program for continuing students, is the "scholarship minimum amount" advertised on the website on top of any other scholarships you might receive?

In other words, if I had a 4.1 SGPA, and received $6,000 in scholarships from donors, would I receive another $5,000 from UNB on top of that or is the "minimum" just a guarantee you'll receive at least that even if you receive nothing from other donors?

For the international students, I'm wondering if you need to pay the first semester tuition in order to get the study permit on arrival. Lwk worried the officer might not give it for that reason
