Dirty Kids, I'm calling you out.

I'm tired of my friends dying. In dreams, my companions move easily in bodies that have been cared for. They're covered in scrapes and bruises and grease, but free from track marks. Empty stomachs, but healthy livers. Tired eyes, but good teeth. Then I wake up to the sharp morning and my road dawg is shaking for a beer.

I'm tired of hospitals and trash at the hopout and stolen packs and animal cruelty. I miss the musicians who travel just to play, the healers who roam to stay sane. I miss the free spirits who manage to find freedom from their own vices.

This is a call, dearest dirty kids. I've been where you are and I've seen why it's hard and no, I don't always do it right either. I can do better. We can do better. We've got to try. We've got to keep this thing alive and keep ourselves alive. We've got to get up and get over our hangups and pull you outta the ditch so that you'll be there to do the same when I'm slaggin.

We've got to hold these secrets and this way of living and somehow still share it with the next wave, finding the diamonds who'll take these rough reigns and keep riding this horse to Anywhere.

Anywhere, kids! Y'heard me? You might have lived there so long you take it for granted, but that place saved my life, and there are others who need to see it too.

So here's to fewer blown up Wal-Marts and more doing dishes for the person housing us up. Here's to fewer dope missions and more 2AM missions across town to drag a couch back to the hopout. Fewer dirty rigs under the bridge, and more sharpie poems on the wall. Steal less Dramamine and more spray paint.

Use what you've got.

Use what you've got.

Use what you've GOT!

I love you scumy freeloading freedom fighters until the end. We need you in this world. We need to run into you again after 8 months of not knowing what happened to you. We need you when we've been stuck walking for days and no one is picking us up and we're feeling real down, and all the sudden we see your tag and know that we're not alone. If you were here to tag it and still somehow made it out of this hell, we can too. We need that random message out of the blue. Keep sending it, and we'll do the same for you.

This is a call, friends. Life has been good to me lately, and my door is open while I have one. When I head back to Anywhere, my smokes and my cans of beans are ours to share. Stay alive and I'll see you out there.

Peaceably,

-Tall Sam Jones

I started 5 weeks ago in Dresden where I was collecting bottles until I had the money for a bicycle trailer. The bike I found and I already had a tent and sleeping bag.
For food I mostly was collecting bottles and cans along the way, but also leftover food in front of small local restaurants and trashes. Got a couple of steaks, cookies, vapes and chips this way 😅

Here its 25 cent for each can or bottle, so if I had 3€ together I stopped looking around and enjoyed my trip.

Most the time it‘s shit weather, frontal winds or shit hills that makes you sweat. Grannies left and right overtaking you with their ebikes. Saxony was cool, but Nordrhein Westphalen, holy smokes, people stare at you. Everyone. I look decent, but bummy and as soon you don‘t get around with a BMW or take your big ass dog for a walk they think you‘re a madman. I get when someone is looking at you in disgust but theire it was everyone..

Got kicked out of property twice even though I made sure it was abandoned and no one saw me.

Now I‘m heading for the rhein river and get south. Let‘s see how far this transports me.

Off and on homeless for quite awhile. Traveled a bunch of states. Just became a Carnie and get to travel a bit more with a steady income. Feels almost tóo good to be true. I definitely experience that thing where homeless people and people who get out of prison have a hard time adjusting too the change in life style. I don't like leaving my stuff in my new bunk. Feels so weird not having my belongings with me at all times. I still search for places to sleep and charge up. Pick up butts, even with a pack in my pocket. It's strange cause I've heard about it and seen people talk on the issue on YouTube. But becoming aware of it in myself is a bit different. Cause I don't want to change the mindset that has kept me safe.

I want to say I don't have too, and that I can just build upon it. But I know that's not true. I have to make the changes externally that I've been going through internally. Luckily, Ive been making huge amounts of progress on that without realizing until I'm already doing it unconsciously. This life and all life is worthy of the effort it takes to sustain it. Haha anyways.

I have a YouTube channel I'm trying to get kicked up off the ground if y'all wanna check it out. (Warning) There is no type of consistentsy to it. I'm no videographer not am I a tik tok generation influencer. But I'm having fun with it. And it's almost like a digital journal. So that's cool. My YouTube handle is Vashman09. Feel free to sub or not lol but yeah. Not a promotion, but kinda. Would just be cool to find my soul tribe out there. Love and peace y'all ✌️

MAN I WAS WRONG ABOUT MCARTHUR PARK. During the day was fun but it flipped as the sun went down. No one messed with me but it was super sketch, decided in the middle of the night to catch a bus to Santa Monica ( much better ), sleeping on the beach was so nice and stress free. Now im at the library charging all my gear 🫡

Story I found the holy grail of temporary work

1.1k Upvotes

Night watcham. $19/hr. Cash under the table. No commitment, leave whenever I want with no hard feelings. 50hr/week for as long as I want it. Job duties include being on site and.... That's it. I can even nap so long as I do my hourly check-ins. Time to make some serious money; maybe even enough to get my fines dealt with, my DL back, and a 4-wheel to be a nomad in again. I do miss being a van man.

Sudden change of plans.. I will be leaving California.. I really wasn’t expecting to leave so fast..

I will be heading g back to Oregon.. taking the greyhound to southern Oregon..

I won’t have gear or basic necessities for the road ahead.. I will be roughing it..

I’ll probably Scavenge around and collect things..whatever I could find..

My friend I was staying with..failed me.. I simply needed more time.. and they’d rather just kick me out..

I feel like I’m back at square one again.. No money, no gear, or basic stuff..

I’ll most likely be walking places.. and finding me odd spots..to lay low somewhere..

But it will be ok.. I will be put to the test.. and I’ll find ways of getting around things..

Sorry my friends.. I’m a bit messed up right now.. my mind is all over the place..

I may have to sell my 14k gold jewelry..just so I could have some pocket money..

I’m not sure if I’ll be in Medford or Grants Pass.. all I know is -

I cannot’ leave Grants Pass..without gear and basic needs.. the road to Roseburg.. is Dangerous..

Anyways, this is all that I have for now. I will update you guys again.

Be safe as always. Peace be with you.

MUST READ Avoid Pinecrest Diner in SF: theyre anti homeless.

I tried to go in there, had just gotten my VA disability: waitress told me "you kinda smell" after seating 4 people, immediately behind me.

i protested, 2 ppl offered me their seats but i refused it, and told host i was first.

he ignored me twice, and pointed to my ILBE outside the door.

was most emphatically NOT former military, if u get my drift.

...

i left.

and told them yelp & trip advisor, and google map reviews are a bitch now aint they.

How do police interactions usually go? Are they frequent? I dont drink or smoke pot, but hitch hiking and walking... do they pose an issue?
