Other Situation Took a risk today
Iāve been homeless for a month and some days. Been staying at a hotel and blowing way too much cash, almost 3k just to keep a roof over my head in that time period. But every day was groundhogs day. Wake up, grind doing DoorDash for 8-10+ hours a day just to make enough to get the hotel and food and gas. And a beer here or there.
My older sister who lives about four hours away said I could come stay with her for a bit. I said ok.
The risk came with driving my car. My tags are expired and also I cannot drive over 40-45mph without my car going into limp mode. When that happens I have to pull over, disconnect my battery, reconnect it and keep going.
My car broke down twice within the first 10 miles of the trip. I was about to give up and turn around and go back to the hotelā¦. But I didnāt.
I took the backroad way and going through one lane highways to two lanes just to avoid the main highways.
My car broke down 5 times in total and I got pulled over twice by state troopers because of my tags and the second one, on top of the tags said I was going 20 under the speed limit. I explained my situation to both of them. No tickets or warnings from either, just them saying, make it there safe.
I thought backroads would be like 45 mph speed limit but no, out in the country theyāre 60-65 haha. The trip should have taken 4 hours but ended up taking 8.
Iām counting my blessings and have a fresh start.
The trip was from St. Louis to Kansas City.
