Discussion Bonus rolls need to go, and the current gearing philosophy feels completely broken

Bonus rolls need to be gone asap. Mythic items from the HC Vault is a great change, but bonus rolls are complete garbage.

I hate that my entire BIS list is essentially structured around the last two bosses of the raid. It makes M+ gearing feel completely underwhelming. To make matters worse, the raid is so overtuned right now that only a tiny percentage of guilds have actually cleared HC in Week 2.

The whole philosophy behind these recent design decisions feels so weird, and I genuinely don't understand what their endgame is here. Right now, WoW feels more like a daily or weekly checklist than an actual MMORPG.

Don't get me wrong, I love this game. I put in an absurd number of hours at the launch because the core gameplay is incredible. But damn, the high-level design decisions lately are weird.

Is anyone else feeling massive burnout from this setup, or am I just screaming into the void? What do you guys think Blizzard is actually trying to achieve with this gearing loop?

Discussion Demo Warlock is The Best Dungeon DPS Spec

For most of us doing <16 keys demo Warlock does the most damage and it's not even close. Go look at warcraft logs for a key at this level and sort by damage. you will find a wall of demo warlocks. I know "damage isn't everything" and completing the key is most important but personally I just like to pump so demo Warlock is what I will play for the time being.

Discussion Shadowlands raiding mistake all over again

Ion said they want to increase the value of raiding again but I don't see the majority of the playerbase enjoying this so far.

Reasons shadowlands raiding failed:
- Raiding was the main source of good gear
- HC was tuned for sweaters only

Gear Issue:

They went fully overboard with gear! m+ has to many vers gear now one really wants and this killed the participation on week 2.

Some classes BIS lists consist of 5-6 Items from ulathek alone! This is heavily unbalanced.

Difficulty:

Its not as hardly tuned as shadowlands but higher diff in casual heroic content has always lead to decreasing playerbase as most of the players just gather to raid to have a cozy raid night. Mythic is the difficulty for folks seeking a challenge and entering the bracket. Overall this strategy will lead to the worst season of midnight numbers wise

Discussion The Disparity of class gameplay and subjective fun

I have been playing rogue or assassin class on al my MMOs, fast gameplay, execution, stealth, harder to execute, and i have been playing rogue since MoP,

Since the launch of midnight the game has been a bit stale for me and i couldn't pin point the cause, assassination has been slower than ever, barely any energy, "not enough energy" echoing in my ear, sub his a shell of its former self, and outlaw is.... outlaw but worse, up until yesterday , i saw an instagram reel of some random girl tmogging her draenei and i thought to my self, hey i have a draenei shaman let me hop on that, to my shock, all three specs were insane fun, visuals, sounds queues , the colors on my screen, all have genuinely reignited my urge to play wow, cant wait to go home after my shift and play my shaman again

But that got me thinking , are these two classes made by the same team ? Do they receive the same review and feedback ? I really wanna hear you guyses thought, (i barely use Reddit im not sure if im doing it right)

Complaint why do tanks have to have so much responsibility in m+ or just in general

i love playing prot pally because i get to have sparkles and also gather mobs and hit them thats what i like. while also being more survivable

but why do i have to have ever dungeon memorized and also which mobs to pull and direct everyone to do stuff

i stopped doing that bc it felt like a job so i just pull what i think is best but people wanna conplain and stuff

i like being tank but you all are adults too if you have a preference for how the dungeon should go then volunteer it

and if this is all player made problems and not blizzards doing then what is the solution

just let me have fun and stop trying to make me clock in

Complaint Sure do love Blizzard bringing back old Trading Post items and not giving us more ways to earn tender

As a mount collector, I'm barely breaking even on tender each month at this point. "Huge discounts" they said, which has turned out to be on everything but the two things I particularly want - the Bloodhunter set and Harlequin's set. They're 90% of my tenders. I can earn 500 more, but that's not enough to pick up Eve's Rider, let alone any of the little bits and bobs from the actually discounted traders.

Going to be ignoring this month's actual trading post. Half of it just seems to be recolours of tabards, sweaters, boots, flower crowns, and other crap. I remember when they started this whole thing, they said they wanted to use it to add items that weren't able to be put in-game because they didn't fit, and now it just seems to be padded to hell every damn month.

And Blizzard, if you're listening, I specifically said earn, not buy.

EDIT: To everyone going "you're not meant to buy everything" yeah, I know that's how it works. What I'm saying is, if they give us access to the backlog, we should get more ways to earn tender - like they've done in the past - so we can actually buy stuff.

EDIT 2: To everyone coming in going "i'M a mOuNt cOlLectOr aNd i hAvE 300k tEnDer", well done for never missing a month, never unsubbing, never buying anything else that catches your eye. Your abject lack of empathy and understanding for others is truly a fascinating representation of the WoW community. Who cares if other people don't have things they want? You've got yours, right?

Question Would it be difficult for Blizzard to add spell icons to floating damage numbers?

Since Midnight 12.0, addons can no longer use CLEU to build custom scrolling combat text. Blizzard’s own SCT still receives the protected damage events, but it only displays the number.

Would it be difficult for Blizzard to also attach the spell icon to each outgoing damage number? Alternatively, they could expose a secret-safe display API where addons control the font, outline, scale, movement and icon layout without being able to read the damage value or spell ID.

I’m not asking for CLEU back or for addons to analyse combat data. I just want something like:

[Frostbolt icon] 184k

The client already knows which spell produced the number, so this seems like something Blizzard could provide without weakening the new addon restrictions.

I believe plenty of other players would back up this idea.

Discussion How many are engaging with player housing?

This is a genuine question, not intended to bash anything. Given that player housing was one of the key features of Midnight, how many people are actively engaging with it, and to what level?

I'll start by giving my answer:

I think the mechanics of the system are great and I really want to actively engage, but there are some deeply integrated flaws that are preventing me from doing so:

  1. Houses level independently. I've been leveling my Horde house passively, but now want to switch to me Alliance house, which annoyingly levels up independently. I don't see what this offers other than effectively locking players into one house.
  2. The pace of leveling is too slow and the housing budgets at the lower levels are far too small. I understand they wanted to create a system where your house continues to grow as you play. But the pacing is way off.
  3. Items are far too expensive, especially items where many multiple are required such as fencing, stairs, windows, etc.

The impression I get is that a wonderful system has been built, but the barrier for truly engaging with it is just way too much. For comparison I spent plenty of time in SWTOR on player housing, while that too was a credit and time sink, it was much more accessible, I was able to fully unlock and expand a house very quickly and get items to furnish it. Whereas we're about 6 months into Midnight and I still haven't really engaged with player housing due to the above mentioned points (and others).

Feels like a real shame, my huge concern is if the level of player engagement is low, rather than addressing fundamental issues to improve engagement, it will just be dropped. I don't want to see it dropped.

Fluff Is everyone okay on the US servers?

I usually play on the OCE servers, but I'm travelling to the US temporarily and therefore joining non-OCE groups for better ping. I'm a tank, and the toxic behavior is wildly different (worse).

You all okay over here? Blink twice if you need help.

Discussion Vault Feels Bad with New Catalyst Changes

With how the new Catalyst works, suddenly there is an optimal piece of gear to convert for your stats. If you don't get that exact piece or other BiS in vault, the most optimal is to get the reroll and gamble in heroic/mythic raid. A mythic chest or even mythic tier set chest isn't season BiS, since there's now a conversion that's better or your conversion doesn't have your stats. It just feels bad.

Competitive Week 2: Mythic Plus - Spec Popularity vs Performance

Post image
0 Upvotes

I keep seeing the Raid Version of this chart but have never seen one for M+. So here is one for M +.

Some explanatory on how performance is tracked cause it's less straight forward then just being raw dps.

Each Key gives Points depending on the keylevel. Positive points for timing keys and negative for depleting keys. These points scale exponentially but depltes scale in reverse. What this means in pratice is that timing a +20 gives a lot of positive points while timing a +2 just gives a few. Depleting a +2 however is giving a lot of "negative points" while depleting a +20 barely matters since high keylevels get abandoned instead of depleting most of the time anyways and it would just scew the numbers. These total number of points then get divided by the amount of runs a spec has to account for the fact that the community percieved "meta specs" will often be played way more then non meta ones. This should produce a fair comparisons between specs.

Some other random maybe interesting tidbits:

Arcane Mage (the most popular spec) has cleared about 500k keys while Fire Mage (the least popular one) has only cleared 12k.

Disclaimer: This data does not include chinese Servers.

If you have any questions or data you'd like to know leave it in the comments and if the data is something i can check then i'll answer as best as I can.

Discussion Blizzard has still not fixed the missing Sparks problem, and they're going silent about it

So, the Sparks issue is still up, and every single ticket sent is getting a generic template response of "we now theres a problem, we can't do anything, we're sorry, good luck".

There's a post that summs up every current post around this topic:

https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/tidal-spark-dust-bug-showing-44-when-only-received-24-sparks/2338540

There's no official answer about this after the "initial solution" that only brought the missing ones to a bunch of people, whilst thousands of players are still affected by it.

Discussion Why story revolves around chaacters who aren't allowed to be wrong? Even when they clearly wrong????

I mean...short stories so far, the ones released on youtube regarding Jan and Jarra childhood or the otherone featuring Lor'themar were great and beyond. so why ingame writing is so much different and who is the target audience for that?

The online content is and so far mostly have been great lorewise so why the ingame story feels like written by a separate team with arguably no clear target audience. I have to assume they write these for themselves.

Sorry but work should start with the questions like:

  • Who is the audience for this storyline?
  • What age range are we writing for?
  • Are there meaningful differences in gender or demographic distribution? (had to put it here since we have either female dominition or councilcraft nowdays)
  • Are we writing mainly for veteran players, new players, or both?
  • How much Warcraft lore knowledge can we assume?
  • What does this audience enjoy: drama, humor, mystery, politics, character relationships, exploration...wahetevr else?
  • What themes or storytelling might alienate the audience?
  • Why are we telling this specific story?
  • Why does this storyline need to exist now?
  • What is the one-sentence premise?
  • What is the central dramatic question?
  • What should players remember about it six months later?

And honestly I feel like these are answered when online content is being made...but when it comes to ingame the writer team feels like they have zero idea on what to do and how to achieve it.

but then again they also never tought about adding amani to the game so it explains how more than one team is clueless about what players actually want from them thus its no surprise that they fumble os often with ingame content

Feedback Void Scarred Devourer is giga fun

Upvotes

Who would have thought that not casting Collapsing Star can be so freaking damn fun, also combo gameplay without extremely tight windows as Havoc makes it absolute chefs kiss, I hope blizzard will not force it to cast Collapsing Star eventually, that button can cause so much frustration sometimes

Whoever tried Devourer last season and felt disappointed, try out Void Scarred, it's so much more fun imo

Question Need Help with making a Trading Post Decision

Hello Reddit!
I need some input on a decision. Like many of you, I am limited on how many Tendies I have to spend, and thus am carefully weighing my options. Now I have narrowed my selection down to 3 Ensembles.
-Wastewander Tracker's Kit which I have 4-5 characters that will actively make use of pieces from that.
-Plunderlord's Radiant Finery w/ the Cutlass and Rapier, there's maybe 2 or 3 character that Might maybe make use of this, the bright yellow makes it a bit of an issue.
-Scarlet Zealot's Trappings, this is for 1 character specifically a Paladin and he will mostly only use the Cape maybe (I'll include a picture of what he's currently using for reference), and maybe the shield, but I typically don't tank so very rarely will the shield come out unless they make changes to the classes so shields are useful for dps. The robes will never get used, unless I make a human priest, and priest is the class I like the least so it's probably not gonna happen.

So yea. I can afford to pick 2 of the 3.

____________
Reference picture
Left is the cape from the Zealot's Trapping, Middle and Right are current appearance.

Speculation My speculation on the next new Class/Specs in Last Titan. Spoiler

To start, a quick review on Class and Spec additions from previous expansions.

TBC: Paladin and Shaman opened up to the opposing factions; Previously limited to Alliance and Horde respectively.

WotLK: Death Knight

Mists of Pandaria: Monk

Legion: Demon Hunter

Dragonflight: Evoker

Midnight: Devourer Spec added

Last Titan brings us back to Northrend to put an end to the World Soul Saga. This is very intentional to capitalize on early nostalgia for a loved expansion. But it doesn't make much sense to introduce a new class here. This is Death Knight turf. Will we get a new Death Knight spec? I'm not ruling it out, but I don't think that's the main addition here.

We're wrapping up the modern WoW storyline, in a nostalgic older WoW region. I think we go back to Paladins and Shamans. Two classes formerly faction specific, and give them a new spec each.

Paladin: Void Knight. With the current state of Arator's story, this opens up potential to pull at this thread of the class. Void and Light coming together.

Shaman: Tank spec, earth focus. Shamans have long felt like a tank that lost its memory. Shields, Earth Magic, Mail armor.

I think these spec additions going back to the iconic classes that were the face of the factions in Vanilla WoW tie in with the current threats as well. Xal'Atath, The void, and Iridikon (Earth Primal Incarnate) and are a nice way to cap off the World Soul Saga.

Running my alt, I knocked the boss through the wall on the last hit and he died, but since it happened off screen, he responded immediately.

Why no double rewards lol?
