Hello,
The expiration of the 2011 Microsoft KEK CA and the 2011 Microsoft UEFI CA certificates at the end of June 2025 has caused problems with Secure Boot on computers for various folks who have not been able to apply a UEFI (BIOS) firmware update for various reasons.
Because the steps for updating firmware vary not just from manufacturer to manufacturer but between individual models as well, it can be difficult to provide specific assistance and guidance in updating your firmware unless the person helping you has the same hardware.
Below is a list of manufacturers, their Secure Boot certificate update guidance, and links to their support forum(s) or subreddit(s). You may wish to try asking in these places first for expert guidance in updating your firmware, as the people there are going to be a lot more familiar with your device.
NOTE: Please check back periodically for updates to this list.
If you have an update for a manufacturer, please reply with it and we will get it added to the list above.
If your manufacturer does not have an update, not all is lost: You can still manually install the 2023 Windows UEFI CA certificate update, by issuing the following two commands from an elevated PowerShell (filename: POWERSHELL.EXE) prompt:
REG.EXE ADD HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Secureboot /v AvailableUpdates /t REG_DWORD /d 0x5944 /f Start-ScheduledTask -TaskName "\Microsoft\Windows\PI\Secure-Boot-Update"
Then restart the computer and allow the update to be applied.
NOTE: Two (or more) reboots may be required for installation.
Once completed, you can verify the new certificate has been installed by issuing the following command at an elevated PowerShell prompt:
([System.Text.Encoding]::ASCII.GetString((Get-SecureBootUEFI db).bytes) -match 'Windows UEFI CA 2023')
If the certificate has been installed installed, the response back will be "True". You can also use that same command to check if the certificate is already installed.
Regards,
Aryeh Goretsky

I accidentally downloaded malware that got them i to my accounts yesterday. They sent that stupid mrbeast crypto scam everywhere (I’m sure you’ve seen it) from my account. A bunch of my accounts almost got stolen (Steam, Epic Games, Discord, Instagram). Then I (supposedly) completely wiped my pc clean, deleted all partitions and booted Windows from a Flash Drive. I also enabled 2FA and changed my password on every major social I had. The issue seemed to be resolved, right until today, when I saw that my Riot Games account (which I have literally never used) had an unusual log-in. It sent a verification code and then a confirmation code. After that, I also got a notification that one of my Microsoft accounts' passkey has been deleted, and now I cannot access said account with my email (it's not my main one, I actually don't even use it but I still turned 2FA on), however, checking my account activity, there weren't any unusual log-ins or sessions detected... Is there still malware on my pc? Do they still have access to my emails? I need help ASAP!

Hey all,
Thanks for taking the time to look at my problem today. I am working on a Dell Laptop, model 15R-5521 for a friend of mine. It was in on repair after a spill knocked it out entirely. I replaced the motherboard in it and that has more or less "fixed it" but its still not 100%.
THE SYMPTOMS:
When you power on the laptop, most times (but not always) rather than getting a Dell splash screen during POST, I get these weird lines, usually horizontal but sometimes also vertical, that fade out as the boot sequence goes up, eventually reaching total blackness. In the black space there isnt anything going on in the background. This happens and you can sorta tell that the computer has booted up in the background, and eventually shuts its screen off.
As soon as you plug in an HDMI monitor though, the laptops screen comes on perfectly fine and will remain on until the screen is told to shut off, either from inactivity or closing the physical lid, at which point it will most likely need a monitor plugged into bring back the display on the laptop.
Its almost as if the motherboard is getting confused in determining whether to send display out via HDMI or via the header to the LCD, and it isnt until a real HDMI device is plugged in that it realizes "Oh wait. Okay. Lid is open, screen is physically, I should send video signal to the lid screen first."
I almost wonder if the lines I see are what one might see on an LCD that is not backlit, say, while the lid is closed and an HDMI monitor is plugged in. Almost as if what I am seeing on the screen is a "frame" of electronic digital noise that is loaded or leftover in the frame "buffer" of the display, until it gets proper data sent to it. It reminds me of similar side-effects on hobby grade 16x2 LCD panels that I use with Arduino that will show garbled characters if you have messy electrical lines until you send it new, good data.
In the attached picture, I show four steps of a single sequence, wherein the computer has evidently booted up, is on the login screen and is waiting for my password, but I let the screen fall asleep, and then pressed a key to wake it back up. Some notes: the specs in the black area on the 4th image are just dust on the screen, not display artifacts. Additionally, the higher brightness towards the top of the nearly all black screen of the 4th image seems to be a byproduct of the backlight/polarizing lens in the display plus my phones camera. Otherwise, you can see a natural progression from glitched lines down to black over the course of maybe 10, 15 seconds.
Also worth noting is that, sometimes, especially before I had the hard drive in and before I switched it from UEFI to Legacy boot (which seemed to be the means to get the BIOS to recognize the hard drive from the old laptops motherboard), it would boot just fine to the Dell screen.
Thanks in advance for help. Its late at night and I am a little frustrated/near my wits end with it but I am gonna try and be responsive to what help you all can offer me so that we can figure this out together.

I have already tried to go through the account recovery. I got an unrequested code and 2 quick messages from my Authy 2FA app that my email and phone number was removed with an email being changed to a firsthidden.com.
I lost full access to my account including my Xbox purchases and can’t even sign in because my old email no longer exists. From what I have seen Microsoft can’t really recover (or chooses not to) Does anyone have advice or is it really over 😭

So i've have this xbox series s for about 10 months now. I bought it for 200$ off of facebook marketplace from people who said they had upgraded. So for the first few months the xbox was normal besides it would crash games after about 3-4 hours of being on or playing. Then, I tried playing minecraft. It would crash minecraft every time I loaded into a world and half the time would crash before ever getting into a world. Then, another new problem. Everytime I play a game and pull up the xbox menu (including search bar, buying something, or clicking xbox button on controller) the xbox would completely lag and freeze and then crash the game. Sometimes even turning off the entire xbox and it would turn itself back on. All i really play is dead by daylight now so I could play the game with no problems as long as i never opened the xbox menu. Now another problem arises. I watch netflix and youtube regularly and now it cannot play netflix. It lags about 5 minutes into watching something and never unfreezes. Along with netflix, youtube will freeze everytime an ad comes along. Please help
Solutions I've tried: I tried reset the entire system and deleted and redownload all my games, i've redone the thermal paste inside the system itself to help with possible overheating, i've cleaned out any dust in the system, i've cleared many caches, i've tried almost every thing that google says, yet it doesn't work. Tech shop told me 100$ to diagnose the problem but "it prob was just over heating" which it clearly wasn't so i'm glad i saved my money.
If ANYONE has any idea of solutions or ideas to help please let me know

To play valorant on windows 11, secure boot needs to be enabled but whenever it is enabled my whole pc crashes/stutters like the video. Ive already reinstalled windows twice and my bios is up to date.
Specs: rtx 5070
7800x3d
asrock b650m-cx r2.0 motherboard (uefi bios)
I highly doubt that its a valorant issue because not only does the game stutter but everything else stutters. One thing I noticed was that when I’m in the settings ingame and the screen freezes, I can still move my mouse around sometimes but when I’m not in settings I can’t. Any help would be appreciated this is my 3rd or 4th time trying to find help about this

an extension for davinci resolve was not working as intented, so I restarted my pc, and this happened. The icons are bigger than usual, and its as if the screen gives me a couple of seconds before it freezes. Sometimes Im able to press space, and it will lead me to the pin screen, before freezing and not letting me use my mouse or keyboard. I manually restarted my pc (button) several times, and it always leads to this screen. I tried going into recovery mode by turning off and on when the logo appeared, but I havent been able to get into it. I also unplugged the pc (when turned off), and held the button to “drain” the power, but nothing. Thank you all for the help in advance!

I have an i5 6th Gen Samsung Laptop I bought six years ago here in the Philippines and is still running good up until a month ago when the power button has been broken, worn apart from the laptop losing its momentary micro switch under the power button. Now I could not turn on my laptop because momentary micro switch is lost. The charger battery is fine. It is showing on the monitor the battery life before blinking off. Is there any available momentary micro switch out there for Samsung laptop? How can I fix this? Location: Iloilo

HI! I had recorded a zoom meeting that I had hosted this morning. I had the zoom saved locally to my computer. When I tried to convert the file to mp3 i had lost one of the files, and am unable to retrieve it. I still have the "double click to covert 2" but am unable to recover "1".
When i go on the zoom app to open the video it either says "Zoom was not recorded on this computer" (it was) or tells me i need both file "1 and 2" in order to open/download the video. I was wondering if there was any way to go about fixing this issue, or bypassing the need to already have the files downloaded locally in order to redownload this recording so I am able to use it.
Ive tried everything to get it to work and this is my last resort! Thank you

my laptop (katana 17 B13VGK) has developed this problem where it randomly freezes and no inputs go through, other than holding the power button down to force a restart. I've installed as many of the latest drivers as I could find and i have no idea what may be causing it. Random other things, the freezing only happens while gaming or under heavy load, the freezes keep playing audio, or at the very least a short loop of audio, and it gives a Kernel Power 42 error with Bugcheck 0 in the event viewer. Been trying to fix this for about a month and a half and im running out of things to try

Hi, I'm a voice actor and have been having trouble getting my mixer to work. The one thing I forgot to say in the video is how I think it got messed up. I was recently moving and had to take my stuff on a train. I did my best to protect it, wrapped it in a big hoodie, etc, but my suitcase was too heavy so I had to put some stuff in a box, which I figured it would be fine. That's the most likely cause, but I don't know what I should do now. Has anyone encountered this before? Is there a way I can fix this, or do I need to take it somewhere to get fixed? I've had it for less than 2 years and I reeeeally don't wanna have to buy another one. Thanks in advance!
(It wouldn't let me upload the file into the reddit post so I had to put a link to it in google drive. Sorry!)

Hard freeze after a few mins but sometimes cursor still moves
Blue screen

Turned off when charger was plugged in once or twice
I've tried
Uninstalled last quality update

Please help a poor girl who is in the middle of a job application 😭

Today my personal laptop decided that it'll take a break, and unfortunately I can't get it to connect to any network. The issue is not with the network itself - I'm connected to it via phone and I also tried to hotspot it to check if that way it'll find it.
I've tried resetting PC and router, as well as updating drivers via device manager (none were pending updates), and also attempted to reset the tcp via command prompt. These are some suggestions I got from the vast internet.
I'm using Windows 10, if that matters, and I'm not able to troubleshoot by connecting Ethernet cable - it's not available to me.
Any ideas?

A few months ago i bought lego marvel avengers and super-heroes + super-heroes 2. I didn’t know these games couldnt be played on windows 11 because the games support only windows 10 and below. The problem is, some days ago i tried to launch it and i had another version of lego marvel’s avengers installed on my pc. Another version than my steam one. It actually launched, i played about an hour before closing it and went to sleep. I tried to play the game the next morning and it didn’t work again. White screen, then black screen for a few seconds and then it crashes. Not even a logo, nothing. Im on windows 11 and i find it very weird that i could play and then the next day nothing anymore. I think i tried everything i saw on the internet about the subject but nothing seems to work. To be honest i dont even know who or where to ask for help about that. If anyone can help me play it again or at least understand the problem, it would be lovely.

Hey everyone, so in like summer of 2023 i got this Xiaomi TV Stick 4K, and it keeps having network issues.
Model: MiTV-AYFR0
Android TV os ver:11
So, i got this Xiaomi TV Stick 4K in summer of 2023 i think, and it would always go like "connected, no internet" but i could be fixed by turning wifi off and on, after some time it stopped doing this, but now it started again. this time, it straight up DISCONNECTS, and when i recconect, after a bit it disconnects again, as shown in the video. Does anybody have any idea to why does this happen and how to fix it? Thanks!
for some reason the video upload always got stuck at 39%, so heres the YouTube link:
https://youtu.be/ukKjnOES2lo?is=vM28w8zLZExsOXI_
P.S: ik i shouldnt show my WiFi name anywhere, but i dont want to censor it all on my phones video editor :D
