Was fired recently from Amazon, a manager came up from behind as i was on my phone exited a staircase heading to the bathroom (which is like 15-20 steps maximum) and gave me a coaching.

But since i was on my final i got fired about two days later via a phone call (mind you i was on 90th day which is the final day sadly lol)

Anyways, for more insight my i just won full custody of my 3 year old daughter who also has Leukemia & because of that she requires a G-Tube to eat since she refuses to by mouth.

My girlfriend (not my daughters mom) had texted me regarding her G-Tube being loose and she was scared it was gonna fall out so i texted to her on how to check it, went to my A-Z app to check how much UPT/PTO i had and boom the write up happened.

To some it all up i did a Peer Panel & its tomorrow, am i cooked?

See a lot of people who hate it.

TLDR

So for context I’ll list a few incidents that happened to me (a new hire on my 5th week of 40hr overnight shifts) I work in afe pack btw

1. Asked about my schedule because the times are wrong. AM told me go by what was on my application for the next 3 months don’t worry about any SET. LA overheard and told me to go to PXT bc that’s not right

2. AMs say at start up if there’s missing items come grab them or a PA. Every time I grab someone they can’t find the item either. One PA has been telling me since I started to only come find someone if the whole package is missing. If it’s just one item that they don’t need to be notified. Fast forward an hour and someone with a computer walks up to me with a bunch of questions and asking why I didn’t tell anyone about my missing items. I told computer lady that I talked to a specific PA and what PA said to me for the 10th time this week. Computer person said well you have to notify an AM for every missing item. well tell everyone to get on board bc I’m just doing as I’m told to do.

3. No one told us that after scan to scan break that there was a specific time to notify someone if the wall wasn’t sending orders. So I waited like the rest of the crew (thinking we were on stand down or something) for 20 mins. An hour later AM comes and asks “what happened after your break for 20 mins” I said “oh you can’t see on your computer and giant tv screen that we had no work to do? I’m still new here and I’ve never been late from any of my breaks. I seen everyone else waiting for work to be sent so I waited as well.” I never knew I had to search the warehouse after 2kins of no work because no one ever told me that.

4. Then AM says I can’t have my phone face down on the counter, EVEN THOUGH EVERYONE ELSE WALKS AROUND ON FT AND PHONE CALLS ALL DAMN DAY. I don’t do as everyone else does as far as the phones. I listen to my Amazon approved headphones and occasionally flip my phone over to skip a song or change to a playlist (which they said was fine to do in orientation)

Alllllll of this happened in one shift btw , but why not say something during my initial 80 hours where I’m allowed to make mistakes and learn from them. And the bigger question, WHY DOES NONE OF THE RED VEST AND COMPUTER PEOPLE KNOW WTF GOING ON!!!!!! Is this what working for Amazon is really like? Is it just my site?

We're supposed to get one ticket for arriving at the start of shift and one for staying until the end of shift, though days when they're actually handing out tickets have been sporadic.

Anyway, today I found out I won a prize from the August raffle - an Xbox bundle, woo! I'm normally a Nintendo gamer so I've never owned or even played an Xbox before. I looked up info about it when I got home just now and apparently the model I got, Xbox One S came out 10 years ago?

I'm grateful to have gotten something but was a little disappointed to find out it's out-of-date hardware, especially considering the fact that the May and July raffles featured Nintendo Switch 2's which is the newest model on the market.

Who else has won something? And what Xbox titles should I check out as a newbie to this line on console?

Might be a stupid question, but on holidays blue badges gets 8hrs pay, but if you work that holiday you still get them plus your regular worked pay?

I'm part of a brand new warehouse. I was in the third training class for the whole facility, and they're trying to staff support roles with new people. Right now we have out of state trainers and ambassadors helping launch the building, but they leave in about a week. Because it's a new opening, they're letting people apply for roles right away instead of making us wait through a probation period. I applied to be a Learning Ambassador on day one because they told us there were unique opportunities with the new launch and most of the experienced people were only there on away teams to get the building started.

Week 1: I had 2 days of onboarding and training, then finally got one actual day working on the floor. On my last day of the week, I scanned literally one box and they told me I was doing Learning Ambassador training. That took the rest of the day and I passed. My class of 8 was the first group of ambassadors trained at the warehouse, and I was the first one to get my LA vest, so I feel really lucky to have had my name drawn.

Week 2, Day 1: I trained my first class. I spent basically the whole day doing modules for inbound/receiving dock, and then officially got handed my Learning Ambassador vest after I was done with the class. I actually really like being an ambassador because I like teaching and have previous experience training people. Public speaking is also easy for me. I've already gotten to meet a lot of people too. When I walk around the building now I know so many people because I've been in classes with so many different groups.

Week 2, Day 2: Today I scanned a box and almost immediately my PA came up to me and said they selected me for Problem Solve. So I was back in class all day again lol. They told me I'll be shadowing Problem Solve for the rest of the week. I was also told that all the Problem Solve people who are here right now are away team and they're leaving after this week. Then they told me I'm going to be the Problem Solve Ambassador, so I'll be responsible for training new associates who need to be cross-trained into Problem Solve.

I feel very lucky, but I'm also really stressed out. Literally everyone in the building has more Amazon experience than me. I've worked ONE actual shift on the floor. One. I barely know anything yet. I'm not too stressed about inbound because every job there seems pretty easy to understand once you actually do it a few times. My main stress is Problem Solve.

My brain is already mush after two weeks of sitting in classes doing modules, and now they're throwing Problem Solve at me. There's so much lingo and so many systems to understand, and with me being brand new I feel like they're speaking another language half the time. If I had already been at Amazon for a while, I feel like the lingo and how everything works together would be a lot easier to digest. They were also talking about how easy it can be to really mess things up in Problem Solve if you do something wrong, and that's probably the part stressing me out the most.

My main goal right now is to eventually become a Learning Trainer. After that I kind of want to hang out there for a bit, get my bearings, learn Amazon, and figure out where I want to go from there. So I really want to do good at Problem Solve and as an Ambassador until I have enough experience to go for Trainer.

For anyone who has done Problem Solve, how long did it take you to actually feel comfortable with the job and all the systems you use?

What are the major DO NOT DOs in Problem Solve? Anything that can really screw you over or get you in trouble that a new person should know?

Any tips or tricks for learning all of this without my brain exploding? Please help lol

Lately, a couple of my coworkers at my site have been feeling the burnout of being at my Fresh FC and wanted to ask site leadership (or upper site leadership) to see if we can implement Lyft Passes or a way to subsidize their travel. It’s been a discussion point here for the 2.5 years I’ve been employed here. This is also around the time sites discuss a Wage Review, or what (if at all) a raise would look like later in the year.

I do feel bad for some of my coworkers because they either don’t earn a lot or work a lot, and typically they spend a portion of their weekly income just for transportation. My site is in NYC and fortunately there’s 24/7 transit (albeit slower on nights, sometimes changes in the mix weekends), we’re a mile walk from multiple subway stops (3 lines), bus lines, but I do see it as a financial barrier for those who can’t drive, and in some cases just taking Uber/Lyft/taxi feels a better option (& cuts commutes by roughly half) than riding on public transit for an hour or more.

Don’t think it’ll help me personally since I’m out of state from my site and I already travel far (or at times very far), in addition to doing photography as my job/business.

Then again, we’re all responsible (associates, and managers too) for our own means of travel to get to and from work in a timely fashion.

I’ve been in the learning department as a trainer a couple months now. Right now I’m dealing with a coworker who I used to get along well with, and suddenly, like a switch she’s been giving me the cold shoulder and silent treatment. I’m not saying we have to be friends and she doesn’t even have to like me, but I haven’t done anything and we need to be able to communicate and collaborate because we basically stand right next to each other. It’s been very draining and weird.

The only thing I can think of is that I’ve been performing well and there’s a coordinator position open soon, which my manager recommended I pursue. I know she is also interested so maybe she is silently competing or considers me a threat? Either way, I don’t really care about all that and just wanna get along with everyone and work.

I was thinking about confronting her directly just asking what the barrier is, but I feel it’s risky and don’t want to feed into it. So for now I’m just not even putting in the effort to say hello just so I can be ignored.

Second, there’s a guy that was hired into our department that has been sort of difficult and has boundary issues with others, and today I saw him looking up an associate on Facebook (female) that had been up at the desk. This incident mixed with some of the perverted things he’s said to me make me feel ill. It happened fast and I didn’t get a good enough look at who he was looking at (name etc), but I feel like I should talk about these things with my manager.

But I don’t want to put my own credibility on the line and get involved in bullshit.

For some reason the fridges in our break room that are usually cleaned out by staff weekly have not been cleaned out for the past two weeks and they’re filling up with people’s garbage! It’s not even lunch boxes taking up space, it’s random food boxes and opened drinks that sit there for days and don’t move. Why do people leave stuff in there and not come back for it? This coffee has been sitting in the back of the fridge for over a week, and it’s only at the back because after three days of it sitting in the front I gently pushed it back so I could actually fit my lunch box on the shelf. We’re adults, can you not pick up after yourselves?

I applied for AM II without any experience or working as an AM I.

On random days off i’ve been having red strikes on my schedule. And i would lose anywhere between 1-2 hours of UPT each time. When i click on the “Review UPT” it takes me to the UPT history but it doesnt show what i gained or lost for that day because i dont have a shift for that day. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I am new to this. My local Amoco & BP don’t have the option to insert your phone number at the gas pump to log in Earnify. But if my card is saved on the Earnify app, and I use that same card to swipe at the gas pump. Will I still get the 10 cents off reward ?

My local Amoco & BP are participating locations too. I can’t use the “ Pay for Fuel with earnify “ feature either

Ok I just got hired as a seasonal employee, but I know of 2 vacations I’m going to take next year. They aren’t for another like 8 months but they are within 2 months of each other so I know I will not have enough UPT or PTO. This is even if Amazon keeps me around but, is there anyway around this? Can you take time off if you don’t have the time?

I’m negative right now about 300 hours but I just had my kid and took a loa/ paid leave will I be fired when I return back to work Lol
