Just Chatting Deleting my 1-year account on Sunday. Write a note for my physical "Jar of Good Things" and chat with me before logging off?

Good morning, lovely people of Reddit! (probably my last time being in this subreddit..🄺)

I’m sitting here with a heavy and quite nostalgic heart.

It’s officially been a full year since I joined this app, and leaving feels so bittersweet! But this week, I’m taking the big leap and deleting my account for good. I’m stepping away to focus completely on my life journey: my university studies, working toward my dream of becoming a teacher, and spending my days offline with physical books, private tutoring lessons for Spanish, cross-stitching, diamond painting and more.

I’m going to miss this community so much. But before I hit that delete button forever, I want to take a tiny piece of your warmth into the real world with me!

I set a glass jar on my desk, got out a fresh stack of white A4 paper, and I have my pen and scissors ready! Before I log off, I am personally handwriting your replies onto tiny strips of paper, cutting them out, folding them up, and filling my jar so I can open a random note whenever life gets overwhelming.

I would be so, so honored to fold a little note from you into my jar!

Comment below with:

ā—A tiny piece of gentle life advice or wisdom you live by.

ā— A wholesome memory or a small daily ritual that brings you peace.

ā— A soft wish, sweet thought, or word of encouragement for a 22-year-old taking her next big steps

PLEASE SEND ME A PRIVATE MESSAGEIF YOU WANT TO CHAT OR SEND A PRIVATE NOTE!

My inbox is open! If you’re a bit shy, have a longer story, want to send a secret message for me to fold up privately, or just want to have a chat before I log off this Sunday, please send a message.

What sweet note should I write down and fold into my jar today?

Looking forward to reading everything from you guys over the course of these days!šŸ¤šŸ«‚

Just Chatting can you imagine Harry Potter by David Foster Wallace

I absolutely adore David Foster Wallace and I absolutely adore Harry Potter, and yes, I know there probably aren’t two things on Earth that could be more different from each other. But, just for the sake of it, try to imagine an alternate universe where David enthusiastically agreed to rewrite all seven Harry Potter books in his own style. How unbelievably fucking cool could that be? Just imagine the humor, imagine the Quidditch discussions, the dynamics between all the kids at Hogwarts. It would be glorious.

Movies & Shows Has anyone reached the age where fictional characters are suddenly younger than you?

I am 28 years old right now. Almost 30 to be honest. I just feel like once you turn 28, you’re almost 30. Not to be mistaken with how much I correct and remind my parents of my real age. They too call me a 30 year old. I am very clear to them that I am indeed 28 for now and will be 28 for the next 3 and a half months.

Anyway, I’m deviating from the topic at hand. So because I am 28 years old, and I feel like I’m old now, I refuse to engage in books and movies and shows wherein the characters in the said books, movies and shows are younger than me. I don’t know why. I guess I just feel very old when I read or watch characters in schools and colleges and their lives in said schools and colleges.

Which is why, even when I’m searching for new books on GoodReads, it’s first written on ChatGPT to suggest me books wherein the leads are greater than 28. And after November, it’ll be to suggest me books wherein the leads are greater than 29. And so on and so forth every year.

So when I saw the craze and rage that was following this new college show everyone was talking about, which was released on Amazon Prime like 3 months ago, I was hell bent that I will not watch it because obviously it follows the lives of these young students still in college. And like I mentioned above, I would just feel old if I saw it. However. This last Sunday, I just gave in and decided to see one episode. And then, by the end of Sunday, I had already seen four episodes.

So I don’t know what to conclude with the above anomaly that I have written about. Maybe now, I am finally over the fact that time is literally flying and I’m growing so old or maybe Instagram just finally got through to me and I caved in and saw the show that everyone around me was raving about 3 months ago or that no new good content is coming out.

Whatever the reason, I’m four episodes in now, so clearly my ā€˜I don’t watch college shows anymore’ rule didn’t survive very long.

Has anyone else noticed their reading or viewing habits changing simply because they've gotten older?

Thoughts & Ideas Why do people buy clothes they hardly wear?

I noticed that people will often shop and have thousands of clothes in their closet that they hardly wear. Why do people buy clothes and keep them if they won’t wear them?

Hear me out, what group of people would know better than the average person if someone is guilty, someone that's been there before. They got the time and experience.

Just Chatting When people stand in awe of something you could have easily introduced them to.

Now this exact situation hasn't really happened to me (yet) but I've been thinking about this.

Imagine there is something you are incredibly passionate about. İt could be a niche band, a hidden gem restaurant, a specific video game, or a brilliant book. You love this thing. You know it inside out. You're thinking about introducing it to your friends or family because you know they would love it too.

But let's say, even though they know you're somewhat knowledgeable in that specific niche, they just stumble upon it by themselves and come talking about how amazing it is to their circle and it's just... İnfuriating a little you know...

Like they didn't even really cared about it, before they've taken a little closer look at it via some way or other and I really hate these kinds of people.

There was a local youtuber that was specifically talking about this experience in one of his videos I can't remember, he said that before even the movies of Harry Potter came out he read all of them till to the goblet of fire and he said that no one around him gave a single cent about his interest in the series and just when the movies started coming out he said everyone has have had started talking about Harry Potter near him and he said that how infuriating that experience was.

Can anybody relate to this?

Just Chatting have you noticed people often have to say "yes that's like me"

I was listening to guys at work talking about motor bike accidents they had. They were not really listening to each other, it was just like "that's like the time I ... It is like they are trying to out do each other .

I bet if somebody mentions they have an illness the other person will say "yes that's like me, or my friend/neighbour/sister

I guarantee most conversations I have with a guy at work will end up with him saying"yes that's like a guy'woman i used to work with". and then you have to hear the whole story about the guy he worked with .

It feels like the conversation is two minutes on you and two hours on them . Exaggeration but do you know what I mean?

If you had an unlimited budget where would you travel. Imagine if you had the opportunity to book 2 weeks somewhere, all expenses paid, where would you go, where would you stay and what would you do?

āœˆļøTravel What tourist destination was totally different from what you expected?

I’m putting together travel plans for the coming year, so I’d love to hear your real-world experiences.

I once visited a spot that looked amazing online, but it was super crowded and nothing like the photos. It really changed how I research places now.

Which place have you visited that surprised you? It can be a pleasant surprise or a total letdown. What made it so different from what you pictured?

Just Chatting Too lazy to work out

When it comes to working out I’m too lazy. I have everything I need to do so from home . I tried gyms but that’s just never worked because yea I’m too lazy . I’m not lazy when it comes to working, cooking cleaning etc.

I hate that I’m like this and I’ve always been like this. And I need to work out. It’s important but I just feel like i do not matter enough to treat myself body well.

I grew up doing different sports 4-5 times a week. And I had to bicycle everywhere. When I moved out I stopped because I didn’t have to anymore.

I lack motivation to get my body moving. Anyone else feel like that ?

Edit: thank you for so many great ideas and comments. I think why I avoid working out is childhood related. But I need to start small. I’ve two workout machines that I avoid , they’re places in front of the tv . So I’ve no excuse. I was worried jumping into a work out Reddit sub and talking about my laziness but it’s not so scary as I thought it would be.

Just Chatting Is it weird to not scream?

• Upvotes

I was on a new friend's porch. We had been cleaning up her yard. So we're talking and she looks at her sleeve. A huge spider is crawling up her sleeve. She lets loose with a bloodcurdling scream, straight out of a horror movie. She flings her arm out to get rid of it and the spider lands on me. I look at it, then leave the porch. The spider was going down the front of my shirt. I picked up a stick. The spider crawls onto the stick. I put it down on the ground.

I look at the porch to tell her the spider is gone. She's behind the screen door, anxiously watching me. I tell her the spider is gone. She's unhappy I didn't kill it.

Now she's saying I'm weird because I didn't scream. She repeated the story of her horrifying encounter to friends, saying she

screamed so loud and again telling them I'm weird for not screaming. I say because everyone knows you can scream spiders away. Now she's angry with me for saying that, and that normal people would scream.

What do you think? I wasn't any happier than she was with having an unknown large spider crawling on me but it never occurred to me to scream. Is that abnormal?

Our dog was attacked by a pitbull a few days ago and lost one of its legs. We're figuring it out and getting him the care he needs. The owner of the pitbull is not paying the associated bills and the police said they can't do anything. Can't do anything. It all goes to the lawyers now. It's been a disturbing chain of events.

I cannot function in a "society" like this. Where anything that can be done is only done when it affects something of financial value. Where justice can only come if I can afford for it to be applied.

I can't wait any longer in hope that things will change and the world will suddenly wake up. Battles are only fought and won because you have people and resources in your side. No one can be a one man army.

I'll start my own though and keep hoping that others will find a place with me too.

Just Chatting What is the last tech you have bought?

For me it was an over ear headphone it's the bose QuietComfort Ultra the best head phones I have ever bought in my life (not sponsored. Just My review) I use it for daily use like gaming and listening and also in restraint, why I like it because of the noise cancelling what I feel is like I teleported to an empty room, I like to watch the unstable smp sooo much with the headphones, and there is an thing called Immersion it's sooooo weird but I very like it it make the audio feels like it came out of an real speaker in an fake room, some times when some one speaks I feel this person is in my room hahaahhahahahahha !

What about you? I would love to hear your stories!!!

Thoughts & Ideas It’s okay to not reply immediately

I genuinely find it exhausting when people get annoyed because I haven’t replied. I’ll obviously reply if it’s important or we’re making plans, but texting all day? Sometimes I just wanna get off my phone 😭

Taking a while to reply or giving a short response doesn’t mean I dislike you. Please stop making your people feel guilty for not being available 24/7. Not everyone has the energy to constantly keep a conversation going, and sometimes you just want some peace and time to yourself without having to worry about someone getting upset over a late reply.

A delayed response doesn’t automatically mean something is wrong. Sometimes you’re busy, tired, distracted, or simply not in the mood to talk. And honestly, that should be okay without making it into a whole issue 😭

My mom and I usually talk about silly things and one thing that ended up in a funny discussion between her, my dad and me was about juices flavors. While she and my dad said that apple juice is better I say that orange juice is WAY superior than apple juice. I know this is a little silly topic but I'll like to hear yall opinions about wich one is better, apple or orange juice??

Just Chatting What’s the funniest or most unexpected thing a celebrity has said in an interview?

I love those moments when a celebrity says something completely unexpected and suddenly you see a different side of them.

Sometimes it’s hilarious, sometimes surprisingly honest, and sometimes it’s just something you never expected to hear from them.

What’s an interview moment that made you laugh, smile, or simply think, ā€œI never knew they were like thatā€?

Gaming Has PS5 stopped sales temporarily in Indian or what?

I’m looking to buy a PS5 Slim, preferably the 1TB or 825GB Digital Edition, but everywhere I’ve checked seems to be out of stock.

Is there currently a shortage across India, or does anyone know of any stores that have PS5 Slim consoles in stock?

I’m preferably looking for stores in Bangalore or Chennai. Any leads would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
