Hello, I'd like to ask for any tips and tricks how to help me deep clean my apartment, basically i was at my parents house for 2 months and my brothers gf got kicked out of her apartment and moved in temporarily with him and brought TWO CATS over 🫩 for like a month or a bit longer, i love kitties don't get me wrong but i HATE HATE HATE cat hair cat odor and when it's dirty and my brother doesn't really clean, he leaves a mess and im the one who has to clean it afterwards total manchild mind u he's 4 yrs older than me :| when i've found out his gf MOVED IN WITH TWO CATS i legitimately had a breakdown cause i knew im gonna have to deal with the aftermath of it and clean it all and i cant stand cat hair. And my brother doesn't care cause he is moving to a different city anyways this month so im literally just left with a dirty apartment after not being there for 2 months 🫩

I need all the tips and tricks u guys can come up with, what products/tools/detergents/tech should i buy? I want to invest in an air purifier and a rubber cleaning brush to get the hair.

How do i clean the sheets? the clothes? the furniture that are all FULLY COVERED in fur? how to clean the washing machine afterwards? What about the carpets? Stains on furniture? how to properly clean out my vacuum cleaner?

like literally I desperately need advice... literally anywhere i sit anything i touch its all covered in fur im going insane and crying because of this 😭😭😭

here are some photos just so u guys can see what im talking about...

Furniture How to remove imbedded hair from a sofa cushion?

So I was recently given a free sofa from someone who was throwing it out in my building. The thing was extremely dirty, covered in both human and dog hair as well as the original cover for this cushion ripped, smelly and dirty. I have ordered a new cover which is arriving in the next few days, in the mean time I wanted to attempt to clean this part of the sofa, however it is also covered in hair (somehow). Human hair is stuck inside the fabrics at the root, almost like the cushion itself was a human head. I know I am going to be covering this cushion however I’d like to clean it as much as possible because knowing it’s full of someone else’s hair grosses me out. Does anyone have any tips for how I can do this? The only thing that seems to be working so far is taking them out individually with my hands. Using tape, a lint roller or hoover doesn’t do anything.

General Cleaning Living alone for the first time and I’m so overwhelmed from cleaning

I’ve had my own apartment since December 2025, and there hasn’t been a single period over 2 days that I’ve managed to keep my home clean and/or mess-free. It’s a small apartment and I feel like I’m cleaning and organizing every single day, so I don’t understand how it never gets done????

Genuinely how do people do it. My parents are great at keeping our house clean, but I just cannttttttttt

I’ve tried to make a schedule and a checklist for daily, weekly and monthly cleaning, but clearly that isn’t helping as much.

The worst part is that I don’t have a dishwasher and omg I absolutely HATE doing dishes by hand, it takes so much time and it doesn’t even feel as clean as a dishwasher :(

Idk I’m just so overwhelmed and everything feels so dirty and gross and I just can’t finish anything. Like now, I was going to quickly clean the sink in the kitchen, but then the whole pipe under the sink fell off and BAM one hour job of cleaning up all the water from the floor and trying to screw back the pipe 😭 So I ended up getting nothing done

Anyone who can relate who now manages to keep their home clean? I’m desperateeeee for tips

How do I start?

Growing up my mom was the type who would wash the dishes daily but she let the house get to I guess not ever messy per say but things just clutter and then she do a deep clean and reset. I never learned to clean until i moved out in my late 20s and now 4 kids in it feels like it's gotten out of control. I cannot seem to ever want to start and when info start I want it perfect or nothing even tho I know everyday I need to be picking up and sweeping and mopping. I just feel like I never know how to just do it and I get overwhelmed and then it's too much. I let it take over and then don't know what to start with. I just need help with some nifty tips. I'll show sn example of what my kitchen looks like at it's worst. Right now it just tidy but I have one side of the sink filled already.

I do not have a dishwasher.

I have twin, one year old boys and wow do they love crumbs and things.

What’s the best way, and least toxic way, to clean the foam mat I have inside of their playpen? It says to spray and wipe but I’m curious about products to use.

Thank you!

Kitchen Before and After - what am I doing wrong?

I thought this was going to be a really satisfying "before and after" but as you can see, that was not the case.

Picture 3 is the product I used. Sprayed the sink and scrubbed it with a cloth.

Any idea why it didn't work? Could I have done something wrong? Or...?

Flooring Spilled Hi-C Fruit punch on carpet

Please help our cat knocked over a drink with HI-C Fruit punch and the red dye immediately stained the carpet. The stain hasn't had time to set we immediatly grabbed a wet towel to soak up the drink then poured baking soda and alcohol (didn't have hydrogen peroxide). We let it sit overnight then used a carpet wet vac cleaner, then bought Folex and sprayed that on then scrubbed it and then when that didn't work we sprayed Folex (enough to make the spot very wet) put a towel with wieghts on the spot with Folex underneath and let it sit overnight. The picture above is shown after we vaccumed up the Folex from the night before.

Laundry Need help cleaning this hat!

Hi! I lost this hat years ago and found it, but it’s built up tons and tons of paint and sanding dust from sitting in a car, which is owned by someone who paints and sands. Is there anything I can do to get the sweat stains and the dust out? I’ve already tried just washing with a brush, leaving it in warm water with oxiclean, and applying a baking soda paste on the sweat stains, but nothing is seeming to work. It is extremely important that the hat and especially the embroidery remain undamaged. Thanks so much!

Flooring Hardwood floor help

Hi all, I am 21F and this is my first time having a hard wood floor and I have no idea how to take care of it. I’ve been using a broom but I feel like it’s never clean enough or there’s still dirt like I can’t get every speck. I have also have two cats that shed so much and the broom isn’t picking up the hair. I mopped the floor when we first moved in but we are still getting dirt on our feet to the point of where it is black. I am lost at this point and don’t know how to clean this floor, I miss my carpet lol. Please help me 😭

EDIT: I have a Dyson ball vacuum and when I vacuumed last time it scratched my floors.

EDIT: some of you are saying it’s vinyl. My apartment says it’s hardwood, idk how true that is. JUST HELP ME CLEAN THE FLOOR 😭

Laundry How to strip dryer sheet layer off towels?

My partner was adamant about using dryer sheets with our towels. I had never used them before and ultimately agreed.

I’m now conflicted because I feel like our clothes, towels especially, aren’t as breathable or moisture absorbing, I have a feeling it’s the sheets.

I want to strip my laundry and the towels and dry them without sheets for a while. See if there’s a difference.

But what would you recommend? I got conflicting answers and wanted to see if there’s a consensus

Kitchen How do I clean this thing??

Post image

I'm a complete noob at cleaning the lids of cups, don't judge me. I recently got this tumblr, and this is the part that covers the hole of the lid. I tried scrubbing it with a sponge, but it doesn't come off all the way. Hell, I even tried using a paper towel. Honestly the only drinks I put in this cup are water, black tea, occasionally chocolate milk, and occasionally soda. Please help!! This stain is annoying me and I don't have any fancy cleaning products made for this.

Furniture How to clean this wooden table and chairs.

I know this sort of thing comes up regularly, but I’m at a loss for how to clean this table which has been abused by our kids for the last 6 years - now they’re older I’d like to clean it up! A mixture of paint stains and grease I think. Table seems to be half sealed in that only a bit of water gets absorbed - I will need to seal it after cleaning but have enough recommendations for that.

Kitchen Huge sun damage around rug?

Post image
Upvotes

Hi! I lifted this rug in my kitchen that has been there for over 3 years to find a drastic color difference. My thought is it might be from the sun? But also it still looks kinda faded in the middle of where the rug was? I would love to get rid of the rug, but it looks so bad without it now. Is there anything i can do to make it more even? Should i just ditch the rug anyways? Please any advice would be helpful!!

edit: i think the floor is vinyl? i’m not sure i fully know the difference between vinyl and linoleum, but i think it’s vinyl. the rug does not seem to be rubber lined.
