All these spills are from drinks my cat has spilled onto the couch ((: because I’m stupid and leave stuff in his vicinity when I leave the room.

Honestly, I kinda miss how easy it was to clean our apartment. My husband would vacuum, I'd mop, and about an hour later we were done. That was it. We could just move on with our day.

The thing is we moved into a townhouse about six months ago and I was so excited about having more space. But now I feel like all I do is clean the space. We both work full time, and by the time we get home there's dinner, the kid, the dog, and a million things to deal with. Once dinner's done, we'll pick up the floor and I'll start cleaning. Then I hear the washer finish, go deal with that, come back, and there are dog prints across the floor I just cleaned. Most days we just take turns, one of us dealing with the kid and dog while the other cleans for a bit, then we switch. By the end of the day neither of us really wants to do any of it.

Weekends are better, but i still somehow run out of the steam halfway through. I'll get the kitchen looking decent and then look at the living room and think...yeah, good enough for today. I've even started looking a robot vac just so I don't have to keep thinking about the floors. But then I look at all the toys on the floor and wonder if one would even help. If it would clean or just brush the dirt around and make the floor look cleaner than it is.

Sorry, this turned into a whole rant. I just finished scrubbing the bathtub and I'm tired. Anyone else who recently moved into a bigger place, how are you keeping up with everything? Are you still happy you made the move? I feel like I spend more time noticing what needs cleaning than actually enjoying the extra place.

I mopped using the floor cleaner on the last slide, then used a floor cleaner pusher thing, then remopped with bleach. Still there , 😭😭 any tips or suggestions on how to get rid of them?

I’m pretty new to cleaning. I bought this king size cotton bedspread and 2 pillow cases to throw over my regular bedding so that it looks nice when the bed is made. I don’t wash these often because I don’t sleep with them. But when I do, these orange (and even black) marks keep showing up. I don’t use bleach at all, and I have my own washer and dryer that used to belong to the previous tenants. I’ve been using the machines for almost a year now and this is the only item that has these marks. I use original tide laundry detergent. What am I doing wrong?

How do I start?

Growing up my mom was the type who would wash the dishes daily but she let the house get to I guess not ever messy per say but things just clutter and then she do a deep clean and reset. I never learned to clean until i moved out in my late 20s and now 4 kids in it feels like it's gotten out of control. I cannot seem to ever want to start and when info start I want it perfect or nothing even tho I know everyday I need to be picking up and sweeping and mopping. I just feel like I never know how to just do it and I get overwhelmed and then it's too much. I let it take over and then don't know what to start with. I just need help with some nifty tips. I'll show sn example of what my kitchen looks like at it's worst. Right now it just tidy but I have one side of the sink filled already.

I do not have a dishwasher.

For context I thrifted her years ago and she was pretty clean then. I kept her atop my kitchen cabinets for a long time which unfortunately left her vunerable to oil residue from cooking I guess and left her pretty sticky and dusty. And have intended to clean her since I moved out.

She's all in one piece(nothing removable) and stitched to a weighted base with beads or sand inside based on the sound? Everything attached is pretty loose and I'm worried it will fall off(but I guess I can reattach worst case scenario.)

So a gentle but thorough method would be appreciated.

I’ve tried to make a schedule and a checklist for daily, weekly and monthly cleaning, but clearly that isn’t helping as much.

The worst part is that I don’t have a dishwasher and omg I absolutely HATE doing dishes by hand, it takes so much time and it doesn’t even feel as clean as a dishwasher :(

Idk I’m just so overwhelmed and everything feels so dirty and gross and I just can’t finish anything. Like now, I was going to quickly clean the sink in the kitchen, but then the whole pipe under the sink fell off and BAM one hour job of cleaning up all the water from the floor and trying to screw back the pipe 😭 So I ended up getting nothing done

Hi! I lifted this rug in my kitchen that has been there for over 3 years to find a drastic color difference. My thought is it might be from the sun? But also it still looks kinda faded in the middle of where the rug was? I would love to get rid of the rug, but it looks so bad without it now. Is there anything i can do to make it more even? Should i just ditch the rug anyways? Please any advice would be helpful!!

edit: i think the floor is vinyl? i’m not sure i fully know the difference between vinyl and linoleum, but i think it’s vinyl. the rug does not seem to be rubber lined.

I know It’s easy to keep up with the visible floors, but looking underneath beds, couches, and cabinets, dust, pet hair, crumbs, and random debris accumulates over time. Moving heavy furniture every week (considering my physical mobility- back pain) obviously isn’t realistic, so I’m curious how often everyone actually cleans these hidden areas.

Do you move the furniture, use a vacuum attachment? I’m currently using a flexible dust mop to reach underneath my furniture and so far is helping me a lot to remove dust buildup. Which method works best, and how do you prevent the buildup from returning so quickly?

So I was recently given a free sofa from someone who was throwing it out in my building. The thing was extremely dirty, covered in both human and dog hair as well as the original cover for this cushion ripped, smelly and dirty. I have ordered a new cover which is arriving in the next few days, in the mean time I wanted to attempt to clean this part of the sofa, however it is also covered in hair (somehow). Human hair is stuck inside the fabrics at the root, almost like the cushion itself was a human head. I know I am going to be covering this cushion however I’d like to clean it as much as possible because knowing it’s full of someone else’s hair grosses me out. Does anyone have any tips for how I can do this? The only thing that seems to be working so far is taking them out individually with my hands. Using tape, a lint roller or hoover doesn’t do anything.

Hello! I recently moved into a 1950s house, and the children (who are now in their late 60s) left stickers on their bedroom doors. They are not paper stickers so there’s no “top layer” to be peeled off. They’re clear plastic and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove. I really don’t want to damage the doors as they are in decent shape otherwise and I’m on a budget! I’ve tried scraping with a plastic tool, scrubbing, goo gone, etc. Please send any potential tips or tricks I will try anything!!

I’ve tried scrubbing the grout with hydrogen peroxide and then later white vinegar but it’s still not fully clean. It did get all the mold off on top of the grout but how do I remove the little dots/stains inside?

Okay so I’m back again with another cleaning question. We have tile floors but the maintenance on the grout (especially in the kitchen where pic is taken) gets dirty so fast after cleaning! I’ll sit with a toothbrush and soapy water but soon after it’s back like this. I get embarrassed by it. Please help!

Hi all. Just wanted to sort of rant about my current situation. I live with my parents and brother/they live with me in a house. The past few years I've found im the only one who really cleans the home. My mom might clean one spot here and there once in a while and my brother will clean his own room and vacuum the floors only when i ask, but when it comes to actually cleaning, as in keeping things from getting gross/build up of grime/dust/mold, it only gets noticed by me. I try my best to keep the house clean but I work and get tired/overwhelmed when trying to tackle the harder tasks. Ive hired a cleaner to clean the build up in ONE shower and it was 250$ because of how much build up there was, so paying for a full home deep cleaning is not in my budget currently :/. I cant convince my parents/brother to keep things clean because they just dont care. I went away for a few weeks once and when i returned the house was filthy and smelled. I asked them why they didnt clean while i was gone and they just said they forgot/didnt notice it being dirty, so reasoning with my family to pitch in isnt an option. I realize since im the only one in the home who wants things clean that its my own problem, but i feel very stressed and embarrassed by our dirty home especially when guests come over. I spend weekends trying to tackle different areas to clean and deodorize but it feels pointless because it will get dirty again the next day. I just came to rant today and ask for advice on how to keep a whole house clean consistently.

If you have any good tips on the following that would be great:

-how to clean old built up dust that has become sticky like glue and hard to wipe off (i have tried cleaning spray/vinegar and wiping with a cloth but it cant get the baseboards to look that clean and mostly smears the grime around).

-how to get rid of musty/farty/old people smell without artificial scents (i have been spraying vinegar water or rubbing alcohol water on rugs and fabrics but it only works for maybe 2 days and i wash things that are washable).

- how to deodorize carpets and large rugs without taking to a cleaner

-how to clean shelves/tables full of small items all covered in sticky dust (i get overwhelmed starting to clean each item individually because there is so much.)

Rosemary oil for my hair, fell from my vanity soon as this happened I used soap and water and really scrubbed with a cloth. I then used vanish foam and left it hours and wiped away. Vacuumed. Over time it’s actually become worse and I’ve also noticed lots of smaller dots around the area which is probably oil dripping from my hair.

It has been approximately 6 weeks to 2 months. Any help?

I made braised salmon a few nights ago and accidentally burned it… I’ve had this ceramic pan and glass lid soaking in Dawn soap and hot water for three days straight and have been giving another shot at scrubbing it with a knockoff Scrub Mommy every night. I’ve managed to get most of it off (it looked much worse than these photos at first), but the last of it, especially in the pan, seems extremely stuck on and impossible to remove. Should I use a more heavy duty cleaner like Soft Scrub or start using something like steel wool? I don’t want to damage my stuff- this was a brand new pan :(
