FO [FO] Potion Storage

Pattern: Potion Storage
Designed: “The Cross” on Etsy - they are no longer selling on Etsy. I included a picture of their name on the pattern and the last picture is a QR code from their pattern. Mods, please let me know if I broke the rules and I’ll remove what needs to go.

This will be a gift for a friend for Halloween. Her favorite holiday.

Started this at the beginning of June and finally finished it today. Lots of minor modifications (mistakes) and although this pattern was supposed to be pure black work, I decided to give the potion bottles colors.

Instead of framing it I decided to do my very first flat fold and I’m tickled at how well it turned out. I couldn’t find a cord I liked so I dove into my yarn stash and braided a cord for the sides. (thank you 123stitch.com you tube video https://youtu.be/YPcVFehSJqw?is=d7EeO6ohuiCgr3BD

Ok.

This was the first time I ever embroidered on wood.

And compared to fabric.... It was hell.

Then I got used to embroidering with floss.

Then came embellishments. And once again it was hell.

Then I got used to it.

And now once it's finished (I will cover the back once I get the glue) and is looking soooo pretty I am thinking about ordering a second one of those.

P.s. it's a kit by WonderlandCrafts the key is FLW-009

I messed up a couple squares but since it’s symmetrical it doesn’t look off.

I got the pattern from Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/4463457181/strawberry-cross-stitch-pattern-pdf-folk?ref=share_ios_native_control

PIC [PIC] My biggest cross stitch yet is back from the framer!

Just got it back today! I used a local frame shop in East TN and I think they did an amazing job! We used a frame I had thrifted and stripped to look more rustic, and it was about 3/16" off from the finished cross stitch size so they weighted the bottom a bit.

My previous cross stitch still needs backstitch (I'll get there...just needed a break from 18 count navy fabric!), I did this nice simple pattern! Love how the colours pop!

Almost exactly two weeks of work, and I'm very proud of it!

I did take some liberties with the border design, and then finished the edge with nun's stitch. The pattern is La Gazette des Dames et Demoiselles no. 21 (which is originally for filet lace, I believe), sourced from the Antique Pattern Library.

This is my second ever project, my first was self-drafted and is a surprise gift for a friend (and thus cannot be posted anywhere until he receives it!).

Since September 1st is the official international orange cat day, it seems fitting to share a pattern I finished a few days ago : a very orange cat who doesn't seem to have received the infamous braincell (yet).

The original illustration is from a 19th/20th century manuscript from Ethopia, and the original artist is unknown.

FO [FO] Optimus Prime Truck Magnet

Made in memory of the late Peter Cullen. I'm pretty happy with the design, overall.

I'm not particularly proud of how it turned out, however, but it works well enough as a magnet on my fridge. It was my first time trying a blanket stitch, and I think I just need to do fewer stitches? Any suggestions? I wanted to add felt to the back so I didn't stick a magnet directly on the stitches, but it's clearly not agreeing with me and my style of "do all the stitches!"

I had cut the plastic to a width of at least one square, I guess, of the stitches. I used two strands for the blanket stitching, but thinking I should have stuck with one.

I plan to make another one for my dad, with a lighter gray and lighter dark blue, so hoping I can finish it better.

WIP [WIP] Finally! The main body of "Fight Like A Girl" by Tanya Amity is complete. I just have a ton of back stitching now. I know it looks crooked, but the fabric is just stretched badly and I will fix it when I do the blocking.

This was a self drafted pattern i made for my first nephew. My first time using waste canvas and it was not easy. I think the thickness of the bib itself is really where the difficulty came in.

It's not my neatest work, by far, but I cannot wait to give it to him when he comes into the world.

WIP [WIP] Losing motivation while trying to troubleshoot problems to finish off a project

Post image

Long post/ vent - please bear with me!

Really struggling to finish off my WIP due a load of problems mainly related to ultimately being able to frame it. I wanted to a use a square frame instead of a hoop, which I’ve measured out to make sure it was an appropriate size for the fabric with enough overlap to secure it around the back before buying.

Unfortunately, I didn’t consider (nor account for) the fact that the design doesn’t actually sit in the centre of the fabric. This was from a printed kit, so that was their placement of the design, not me failing to start in the right place.

To position the design in the middle of the frame (off-centre didn’t look right at all), only the very edge of the fabric goes over the edge of the backing board, so I can’t get any tension to keep it in place.

I can’t just get another frame, because the size smaller cuts off the top and bottom of the cat, never mind the words.

I’ve stitched another piece of Aida to the edge to extend it, which - as you can see - looks like absolute sh*t. I was thinking that it would be fine because it would be in a place you can’t see it, except it makes it too bulky to push the backing board in.

I don’t really know what to do and it’s putting me off finishing the project (just have the music notes to stitch around the cat).

So any solutions (outside of starting from scratch)/ advice/ motivation would be really, really appreciated.

Thanks ❤️

Hey everyone! I'm back with Part 3, and the process is moving forward!

Now it's not just the eyes — the nose and more details of his face are finally appearing on the 18 count Aida canvas. It's so exciting to see the progress!

How do you like this timelapse format? Is there anything you think I should change or improve in the next videos? Let me know what you think. ❤️

Pattern details: Custom pattern by Ukrainian designer Alexander Stitch, based on my daughter's drawing.
