EDIT: i looooove movies and TV and might even make another jenga tower just with that theme, so those are definitley appreciated!! it doesnt have to be rectangular either but bonus points!

Finished Craft I Made I made some mask chains :)

My partner recently started immunosuppressant infusions for a medical condition so we have to wear masks! You best believe I had to make sure it was fashionable and sparkly ✨

Edit!! Just wanted to clarify that these don’t poke any holes in the mask! They’re all secured with lobster clasps on the ear loops and in the first one it just hangs on the middle/doesn’t puncture :)

Finished Craft I Made First time painting seashells despite sucking at painting and it honestly surprised me!

My bff travels to seas a lot and brings a lot of shells and clams back home. Knowing that i like to craft, she gave them to me to think about something to turn them into gifts.

After lots of inspiration on Pinterest, watching tutorials, and some improvisation, i ended up painting them like sea bowls, one on a stand, and one as a closing version with sky and clouds as well.

I originally wanted to dye some resin blue and make it a resin filled sea with that trick of white resin and hot air gun to make a sea foam, but i didn't have the white pigment nor air gun, so i opted to try and paint it all instead.

I am a digital cartoon artist, so yes, i have skills for drawing, but painting? That's a big nightmare for me haha! Just the brushes bending, doing what they want, adding amount of paint as they please and simply not behaving was always a death of me! 😭

But painting sea somehow turned out to be actually very easy once i got the grip of it. Maybe because i didn't have to draw anything detailed and just dabbed waves in and blended premade basic colors. But still i love how i managed to create especially the white foam.

The golden edges were the biggest challenge though. I saw people using gold gell pens or already premade gold paint. I only had gold pigment powder. I ended up mixing it with a bit of varnish. It didn't want to stay mixed properly and made a gold crust on the varnish's surface, but in the end that was actually a helpful mistake that made it stick to the shell very well haha!

Then the pebbles and details were glued on with hot gun and super glue before coated with varnish again.

Either way I am absolutely planning to paint more shells now!

Seems fitting to share some orange cats I stitched 😁

I mostly adapt old illustrations into cross stitch patterns ; the first cat is from an Ethopian manuscript from the 19th/20th century and the last one is from a medieval European manuscript.

The angry little burning one is self drafted :)

Ps : please snuggle your brainless oranges at home for me if you have some ❤️

Crafty people, I'm new here but want to do a thing for my wife. I bought a writing desk and on it there looks to be a leather pad. The issue is that it's rather tatty looking and I'm wanting to either fix or replace. Are there any suggestions for what I can do with this?

Photo of dogs, just because!

Discussion/Question Can I iron vinyl on top of vinyl?

Post image
2 Upvotes

TLDR; can i iron vinyl on top of vinyl? need a white background for black QR codes.

i was tasked with making 60 shirts for my work - all with different sayings relevant to our work. i ordered 20’ of vinyl with all the different sayings we need, plus our logo and QR codes for our socials. i was dumb and had the QR codes printed in black :( our shirts are the dark navy blue underneath the one pictured. the QR can be read like 1 in 15 times.

so i’m thinking, if i buy white HTV and cut it into squares, could i iron the white patch on first, and then apply the QR code on top of that? i’m worried since it will be ironed onto only HTV that it won’t stick, and i don’t want to waste any money.

if you have any other ideas please let me know! my last option is reprinting the QR in white but trying to avoid that as we need these shirts in a week.

Discussion/Question Looking for Adhesive recommendations ❤️

Upvotes

Hi! Does anyone have any recommendations for an adhesive that works well for attaching photo paper to 80 lb or 110 lb cardstock without making the cardstock warp, curl, or wrinkle? I’d love to hear about your personal experience with what has worked for you.

Thank you.

I made the frame from cherry then designed and printed an inner frame to weave onto with the cord. I tried some more complex patterns but ended up going with something simple to keep the light emitted consistent. In the future though I’ll try some versions with more interesting weaving patterns

How-do-I Tuesday How can I make this at home?

Thumbnail

Im not sure if this is resin but it does look like it. But I dont have a pressure machine thingy nor a resin printer. People said it's also dangerous to do this in an enclosure.

How can I make something like this at home? or considering the constraints.

My uni have a lot of 3D printers, etc.

we have:

- 3D printers

- Laser cutter

- Vacuum former

- Vinyl cutter

- Arduino kits and microcontrollers

- Electronics benches and soldering stations

- Handheld power tools

- Testing equipment

- Hand tools

- Assembly tools

- Finishing tools

- Workbenches and build stations

but the problem with the 3D printers was there are these lines and even trying to sandpaper it, it makes this scratches that makes my print looks old. Some people said acetone is also dangerous, etc.

I just want it looks smooth and professional regardless whether it is 3d print or resin🥲

PS. I stay here at auckland

(the print is also 2-3 x 2-3 inches)

I want to make shoes like you see in the image below for a cosplay but I don't know what to use for the icing. Anyone got any suggestions? (preferably things you can get in europe)
