Your ISTP Care And Handling User Guide And Manual

Your ISTP Care And Handling User Guide And Manual

Congratulations! You have found yourself in possession of your own unique ISTP unit. Or rather, it has found its current situation agreeable for the time being. Since ISTPs are notoriously difficult to understand, we have issued this guide to help you along the way.

Getting Started

Your ISTP unit should arrive pre-activated and ready to solve problems. In case your ISTP has not been activated please complete the following:

  1. Place ISTP in a quiet setting.

  2. Point out 1-3 problems or things you do not understand.

  3. Wait 30 seconds.

  4. If after 30 seconds your ISTP unit has not activated, asking your ISTP to “Open up more emotionally” will immediately activate Flight Mode (though this is not recommended).

Care and Maintenance:

  1. Your ISTP unit does not require any direct care, supervision or maintenance, and will be happiest left to its own devices.
  2. Efforts to assist your ISTP will be met with annoyance and could possibly void your warranty.
  3. If you give your ISTP rules to follow, you should take care to explain why they are in place. You should also expect that if they are inane rules, they will not be followed.

Interpreting Your ISTP

At some point you may say to yourself, “I wonder what my ISTP is thinking?” Here is a short guide on how to interpret your unit’s words and actions.

[Silence]

Your unit is likely thinking through a problem, contemplating its surroundings, or is thinking about nothing at all. Do not worry, this is normal.

“I’m fine.”

Your unit is fine. Do not worry, this is normal.

“I need some time alone.”

Give your unit time to recharge. If you recently subjected your ISTP to an intense or prolonged period of social interaction, this should be expected. However, frequent abuse of your ISTP’s limited social engagement function is not recommended and can void the warranty.

[Shared experience]

This is as close to your ISTP as you will likely get. Willingly participating in an activity together is one of your ISTP’s primary methods of communicating fondness.

Software

Your ISTP comes pre-programmed with the following abilities/traits:

  • Remains calm in urgent and stressful situations.

  • Reliably grounded, realistic, and pragmatic.

  • Ability to be a “Fly on the wall”

  • +10 Tinkering Skills

  • +10 Logic

  • +10 Feelings Resistance

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my ISTP actually like me? It’s getting hard to tell and it won’t respond when I try talking to it.

Probably, especially if your unit willingly chooses to spend time around you. Try not to talk so much.

Help! I think my ISTP is broken!

Your ISTP is not broken. Due to its natural ability to overanalyze and rationalize (sometimes to an unhealthy degree), your unit may be stuck in its “WTF Years”. Give it time to grow, and offer encouragement when needed.

Can I keep it?

Unfortunately that depends on the model. If your ISTP goes missing for an extended period of time it is possible that you have accidentally activated your ISTP’s aversion to commitment. However, with some models this feature has been omitted, in which case you might be able to keep your unit for the entirety of its expected lifespan.

Congratulations on your new ISTP unit and we wish you many years of interesting experiences!

(This post was heavily inspired by this guide to ENFPs. I thought it was amusing, but a little too long. Mine is shorter and obviously specific to ISTPs. Hope you enjoyed it!)

Bruschetta (toasted bread, tomato, fresh herbs of your choice on top).

I mixed mayo and garlic to put on top of the bread (the white creamy layer). Also added honey, lemon juice, bit of salt and a little less bit of sugar.

Left one: mango and tomato.

Upper one: brazillian smoked sausage and tomato.

Down one: red pepper and tomato.

Discussion The best friendships I have are with people I never see.

It's not even on purpose I've just finally noticed. It isn't that I can't make friends. It's I can't be around anyone too much. Inevitably huge cracks show in character, they get too close, codependency or toxicity forms, trauma bonding whatever it is. My friends don't even live here lol. Most of my friends moved away or I used to live there type stuff. I can call whenever send memes etc. neither of us gets offended it's this way, no one is sus, it just works. This is the only type relationship that stays. Fwiw I am single also and I'm guessing it's for the same reason.

Questions and Advice Your opinion on infjs? (istp)

Guys, what's your opinion on infjs? I can't seem to get well with them, and idk why.

So, I'm istp 8w9 (f23)

I've been friends with infjs since forever, but all the relationships just come to an end, even if the relationship is almost 10 years old...

Somehow, all of them have the same patterns, the current relationship I'm in, is with this infj guy. And let me tell you, it doesn't matter if they were female or male, they all somehow have the same type of characteristics and patterns. Not sure whether they are unhealthy or not, idk the differences tbf.

At first, they seem cool to be friends with, full of depth, open, loyal, and capable of having real and meaningful conversations, which is really incredible.

But the second a conflict, boundary, or something like a loss of control happens, a switch happens.

They say they want total honesty, transparent and grounded relationship, at first they will try to act to it, but when the real emotions or conflict hits, they cower and start putting on an eerie nonchalant mask, pretending everything is completely fine, while their entire attitude toward you shift. It's all obvious to the point idk if they're actually fine or just pretending, is this some sort of a puzzle game?

To me, their sudden "indifference" is viewed as dishonesty, which lead to disappointment, like can such shift really happen in only one day? it's really hard to tell what's up with them. The moment they feel out of control or rejected, they subconsciously pull back their best version just to regain the upper hand and feel they are the one in control, and it feels less like a friendship and more like, idk as if they are being challenged? Where they try to protect their ego at all costs, only to feel shameful about it later.

But In the end, this constant attitude will result in ending the relationship. They themselves realise it too. And when this happen, it feels like we are forced to be friends, while things are just happening behind the scenes, and I'm here just sensing stuff happening without knowing what is what anymore.

Personally, as an avoidant type myself, I actively try to be direct, transparent, and grounded with people I care about, when I see them try so hard for the relationship I cannot just sit and watch, I'll do the same too, but when the sudden shift happens for simply setting basic boundaries, or whatever, leading them to stop caring about the relationship, will eventually make me as withdrawal too, as avoidant and stop being honest overall, it's losing a great friendship all again.

Tbh, I don't even know if what I'm saying is real or my own assumptions, but dealing with infjs is a real pain, I wish I stop bumping into them

MBTI Typing am i mistyped as ISTP?

Hey-ho, it’s me again (if you’ve even seen me), with another identity crisis.

I don’t quite fit what people describe as ISTP. According to what i’ve seen, ISTPs may come off as rude or too cold to people. But i’m not that. Sure, i often can be cold, but not as often as people describe it. Maybe it’s just because i’m quite shy or something, but when i talk to people, i don’t know how to explain it, but i just try to be as nice as possible to them. Not for a specific reason or anything, it’s just automatic. Whenever i make a mistake my brain just makes me apologize 3 times in a row for no reason. It’s just a reflex atp.

Some people tell me i have Ne traits too, but i don’t quite get it. maybe it’s because i come up with weird things to say on a conversation. They just click.

Other than that, i’ll try my best to describe my traits so you have more information than me being overly akward when socializing.

One thing i’m pretty sure of is me being an I type. Maybe i am wrong, but it just makes sense. I don’t mind company, but i prefer being alone some times, i like working on my own, too. Most of my hobbies are done alone like drawing, writing, playing videogames (mostly alone), or listening to music. The only hobby of mine that is done with people is to play volleyball, i can’t really think of much else.

But when i do have to team up with people to do work or whatever, i’d actually prefer to be the leader, BUT only if i actually know the people a bit. Not because i’m scared, but because i want to know what to expect from those people, and what tasks i know they’ll actually be capable of.

I do get really talkative and excited sometimes. Before meeting up or something, i just go ‘’i’m gonna be quieter this time’’ and i never do so. When i’m having fun i can’t help it. this is one of the only things in favor of me being an E type.

I’ve been told sometimes that i could be an ISFP, but i’m for sure not a F dom, even less Fi, in my opinion. I do care for people and harmony, sure. But i wouldn’t say it’s my dominant function. If anything at all, maybe second.

My room is NOT tidy. But mainly because i’m lazy. I also tend to procrastinate on things that i’d even actually love to do.

I’m also ALL about adrenaline and intensity. I love waterparks and all that stuff mainly because of that.

But maybe i could just have the wrong understanding of cognitive functions. If you’d like me to elaborate more, feel free to ask!

Questions and Advice ISTP girls, What are your thoughts on Girly clothes?

I know this is a random question, but something that I noticed about ISTP women on the internet is how they love looking awesome, badass, kinda punky rock vibes, heavy metal, dark clothes and whatnot, and how much they hate all pink and girl dresses and clothes. My question is, does this resonate with you? Do you like girly dresses and clothes or you hate them?

Discussion I made a website to explain jungian functions - feedback welcome

Screenshot of visualization of Ti

Hi guys, I recently was asked by an astonishing amount of aquaintances to explain the jungian functions to then, and therefore found the motivation to spend a few days getting this implemented.

I don't consider it finished yet - I'm not happy with some of the descriptions yet, it needs a proper introductory page that explains why these functions exist in the first place, and while I do think it'll do its job if the reader already knows the functions, I'm also confident that someone who doesn't will still be reasonably confused.

This post exists for three major reasons:
1. You now know this exists, and if you find the visualizations helpful for either your own or someone elses understanding feel free to use it.
2. For me, the whole system always was a lot about finding out how expensive or pleasurable certain actions are for different individuals; I tried coming up with triggers for each function that can be interacted with in Zone D that modulate pleasure and stress response for each function, and I'm curious what your thoughts about this approach are.
3. Finally, I'd love to get feedback - what's wrong, what looks weird, what is annoying, what the fuck is the playground.. I have no ego attached to this, fire away.

Also, my frontend development skills are certified garbage, so there wasn't really a way for me to achieve this without Dr. Claude helping me extensively with the implementation process, for what it's worth.

Have a nice day everyone :)

Discussion ISTP × xNFx

Been seeing couple of ISTP paring with xNFx lately in this sub. I don't get it, I thought they don't fit. How come did they attract each other and end up being together? Or there's just some survivorship bias going on?

Is there any ISTP here that is in relationships with types other than xNFx?

Edit: Didn't notice my wrong typing till now, f*ck. What I meant to ask was if any ISTP here that is not having relationship with xNFx. Sorry for the misleading.

Discussion What do you think of instructions ?

And I don’t mean the games tutorial, I usually skip it too. I mean the instruction of fixing/repairing something, like you’re not gonna fix something you know completely nothing about right ? You’re not gonna change the carb of your car if it’s the first time you’re in the garage. You’re gonna watch some YouTube video, or google it to haves some fundamental knowledge, is that so ?

Saturday Relationship's Posts INFJ(F) /ISTP (M): 11 year update

Hi All,

I've gotten a couple PMs, replies on the original thread, and a reply on a wedding planning thread regarding my (INFJ) relationship with my then boyfriend/now husband (ISTP). TLDR on that post, I had trouble understanding how to have my first long term relationship and felt like I had to "earn" his interest to keep him.

We got married court house style in 2020 due to COVID and built a wonderful family. At one point we had 3 dogs (now down to one dog) and we now also have two children (an almost 3yo, and almost 6m old)!

I went to therapy due to PPD and learned about cognitive distortions. It seems like I was putting a lot of assumptions about what his actions/words intended when it was me overanalyzing, projecting, etc.

For example, I posted about him:

  • Admitting to having "feelings" for a mutual classmate but misremembered/deleted important details in my mind
    • This was mental filtering-I had conveniently deleted that his exact text said he was AFRAID he was developing something LIKE feelings not that he HAD feelings);
  • Being with me because I had only one advantage over the classmate but looking back he did list out I had other characteristics too
    • This was maximizing-my mind had exaggerated what he said about her characteristic
    • Also minimizing/balatantly ignoring that he had complemented on things I had felt unworthy since I had the impression some of the stuff he said was just an expectation of women
  • Not taking me on dates/special occasions when he has but I dwelled on the one time he didn't
    • This was overgeneralizing-I treated one single negative thing as a never ending pattern.

I grew up in an environment where I had learned to question my capabilities and other's words so I have low trust and tendency for pessimism. It was like my mind was constantly putting on a gloomy cloud/filter over my experiences so I've just gotten used to that way of thinking. My therapist gave me great tools on how to identify these distortions and how to challenge these thoughts.

I've since learned to be more open about my thoughts/concerns with my husband (not just about him but also about extended family, friends, coworkers, etc) and he's very supportive in my journey repairing my mental health.

All to say, I am in such a happy place with our relationship. Parenting is now the next challenge (not because of my husband but just I'm trying to overcome my own childhood scars and trying to avoid passing on generational trauma).

Questions and Advice What’s the ISTP/INFP dynamic like for you guys?

I am an INFP, and I once had a short relationship with an ISTP. And I wanted to see your perspective on the unlikely ISTP/INFP dynamic.

Personally I found it to be a surprisingly positive dynamic in some aspects, which I didn't expect. And I want to know if you have ever felt the same towards an INFP.

So, here's the thing. I felt like his almost detached physical presence sort of forced me to ground myself. Because usually, as an INFP, I'm constantly living in my own head, toying around with hypotheticals, trying to manage mine and others' emotions, trying to keep peace, trying to manage social interactions, making sure that everyone are heard, and stuff like that. But with this ISTP, I was forced out of that habit.

And I guess I felt like there was both relaxation and confusion in that feeling. I really didn't know what to do with myself, but at the same time, it felt freeing.

Freeing because I got to see things from another perspective and I got to experience another nervous system state. (I think it has to do partly with mirror neurons? Like when you see the others physical state and you kind of get influenced by it.)

Anyway, I'm wondering what experiences you've had with INFPs. Have you ever had anything positive come out of that experience or no? And if yes, what was it?

Rant sharing a experience I had recently

I’m a esfj, basically had a argument with a istp. Won’t share much identifiers but had a fight, the istp got triggered by it, and decided it wasn’t worth to keep a connection going and my friends tried to fix the solution but they wasn’t receptive despite my friends being logical

Feels like it’s quite rash to make a decision on just one fight that’s very minor

** i understand im not giving much context snd hence its hard to receive true opinions. So if anyone wants to know more, can message me on here privately

in case it’s not obvious. I’m not sharing much bc of privacy. Reiterating my point of dming.
