Islamabad Fire at PIMS gynaecology ward leaves 15 newborns dead - Absolutely Heartbreaking!

May Allah grant sabr-e-jameel to the grieving parents enduring this unthinkable loss, and bless them with strength through this unbearable tragedy. Ameen.

A single component glitch only turns fatal when facilities operate with uninspected electrical loads, unserviced units and zero fire suppression. PIMS maintenance is directly responsible for turning a basic equipment fault into a mass casualty event. Very unfortunate news to start the day with.

Twin Cities Awareness Post - Surge of Reddit Sob Story Scams

Posting again as I am seeing more sob story posts which end up directly or indirectly asking for money.

Most of these don't start off as just a single post, rather multiple posts over the span of days and weeks which makes you sympathetic and think it's real. By the end they end up asking for money and have all the fake documents available to gain your trust.

Please please PLEASE avoid giving any money on reddit to anyone. There are very good people here who genuinely want to help, and I hate seeing them give their money to these low-lifes.

There are plenty of people out there with actual difficulties who need the money and ask without hiding their identities on an online platform.

Just attached two example posts but there are plenty around. And yes I talked to them first and uncovered that they really are scamming.

Islamabad sharing my poetry

Hey people, I’m 20F, a poet and a literature student. Yet I don’t have any monetizable skills at the moment so here I am, selling my poetry.

For 500 PKR, you get to read some of my best work.

I’ll send you a bunch of topics to choose from, and you can pick whichever one resonates with you most. Everything is in English, except for one poem in Urdu.

500 PKR. A piece of my poetry, yours to read.

edit, thanks to everyone for advising me better platforms and ways to monetize it, needed some quick money so i just put this up. i will be looking into those options now, again thanks.....

Twin Cities Booked Yasmin Khan for my Walima but now I’m really worried — should I switch MUA?

Hi girls, I’m honestly stressing out and would really appreciate advice from anyone who has gotten their bridal/Walima makeup done by Yasmin Khan recently, especially in 2025/2026.

I have already booked Yasmin Khan for my Walima makeup, and I was initially really excited about it because I genuinely like her makeup. However, after booking, I started reading quite a few recent reviews about the quality of the makeup, brides being rushed/not listened to, and especially timing issues, and even makeup getting smudged, with hair and dupatta pins coming off while still at the studio. Now I’m seriously second-guessing my decision.

My biggest concern is the timing. She has given me a 7:30 AM–10:30 AM slot, and my Walima starts at 1 PM. I’m actually coming from another city, so the journey itself will take around 2.5–3 hours. There is basically ZERO room for me to be late. If I get significantly delayed, my family and in-laws are going to be extremely upset.

At the same time, I don’t want to be sitting there stressed the whole time or have my makeup/hair rushed because she has another bride waiting. I obviously want to actually enjoy getting ready and feel confident about how I look on my Walima.

So now I’m really confused about what to do because the booking is already done.
Should I:
1. Stick with Yasmin and trust that my experience will be fine?
2. Try to find another MUA even though I’ve already booked and may lose my advance?

Has anyone here had a recent positive experience with Yasmin where she was actually on time and the bride was ready within the promised slot?
If you had a bad experience, how late were you actually made and what was the quality of the final makeup like?
I would especially appreciate honest experiences from brides who had Walima/daytime events, because my situation is a little different due to the 2.5–3 hour travel time afterward.
Please help a very stressed bride out 😭 I really don’t want to regret this decision on my Walima day.

Islamabad Thinking of buying a house in B-17,need honest opinions from residents

Hi everyone,

We currently own a house in G-10 Islamabad, but we’re considering moving to a bigger house, ideally 8–10 marla, and B-17 is one of the areas we’re seriously considering.
I’d really appreciate honest opinions from people who currently live in B-17

A few things I’m particularly interested in:
1: How has B-17 been affected by the recent heavy rains? Were there any issues with water entering houses, streets getting flooded, drainage problems, or standing water?

2: What is the current water situation like? Is society water reliable, or do most houses depend on bore water?
Is bore water available at normal depths?
Is the water quality usable for household purposes?
Are there any particular blocks/streets where water is a major issue?
3: Which block is best for living?
For someone looking to actually live there long-term (not just invest), which block would you recommend for an 8–10 marla house
I’m particularly interested in things like roads, drainage, water, accessibility, security, nearby markets/parks and overall environment.

Also I’ve heard that Blocks D, E and F have some CDA/RDA approval issues, while A/B/C are different in terms of their status. How accurate is this currently? If someone is buying a constructed house, is this something they should be seriously concerned about?
Anything else I should know?
If you currently live in B-17, what are the biggest pros and cons that you discovered after actually living there?

Thanks in advance 🙏

Islamabad Is this normal at salons in Islamabad?

So I recently went to a salon in Islamabad and they had a package for haircut + hair wash + blow-dry. When I asked about getting a haircut, I wanted curtain bangs + long face-framing layers + a U-cut.

But they told me that the package only covers a single or basic haircut and that I’d have to pay extra for the curtain bangs and layers.

Is this normal at salons in Islamabad? 😭

I’m originally from Lahore, and I’ve never really experienced this there usually if you book a haircut package, the stylist does the cut you ask for without charging separately for every element.

Just wanted to know if this is an Islamabad thing or if I just happened to go to a salon with weird pricing?

Twin Cities Why do women sometimes think I’m egotistic when I’m actually just reserved?

I’m 27M, and I’ve noticed something about myself that I genuinely don’t understand.

I almost never initiate conversations with women because I’m always worried they might think I’m trying to hit on them or make a move. Most of the time, women are the ones who start talking to me, and once we get comfortable, we usually become good friends.

The confusing part is that girls who know me well usually understand that I’m not arrogant or egotistic. But women who don’t know me often seem to think I have an ego problem.

I’m generally a serious and reserved person until I develop a genuine bond with someone. I’m not the type of guy who randomly talks to girls just for the sake of flirting or getting attention. I also can’t fake being overly sweet or flattering just to impress someone. A lot of guys seem to be naturally good at that being extremely nice to a girl’s face while saying something completely different behind her back. I genuinely can’t do that.

Because of this, I sometimes come across as rude or uninterested, even when that’s not my intention.

And now I’m stuck in my own head. If I’m friendly and talk nicely, I worry she’ll think I’m being a creep or trying to hit on her. If I stay reserved, she might think I’m arrogant or have an ego.

So what am I actually supposed to do?

I’m genuinely asking because I’ve started overthinking this way too much, and it’s messing with my head.
