26/27 NHL Schedule for the New York Islanders
Of note:
First game is @ TOR, Wed 7:30PM. Toronto will be coming off a back-to-back with Montreal previously. I 100% think the Isles get this prime slot because of Schaefer.
First home game is Saturday 7:30PM against the Devils.
4 back to backs in December: away-home, home-away, away-away, away-home.
Longest road trip is late January to early February, 5 games with one day break in between each one: PIT CAR TBL FLA BUF. Then the All-Star break then an away game at MSG. January also begins with a 4-game road trip (SEA VAN CGY EDM).
Longest homestand is beginning of March with 4 games (WAS, VGK, PIT, MTL).
First game we see Lee again is Dec 15 (Tue 7PM) away. Feb 15 (Mon 3PM wow what a horrible time President's Day! You'll have off when Lee comes back!) he comes to see us.
Season closer is April 10th, 5PM vs CBJ at home (like two season ago... meaning maybe we'll land DuPont again this off-season?)

AGM Evan Gold “we view the Islanders as a transitional team”
This comes weeks after Darche’s comments of “I still want us to be competitive as we start bringing younger guys into the lineup. Does it mean we’ll make the playoffs? No it doesn’t necessarily. You never know with these things”
So our management is 100% saying we are not a cup contender. They are 100% saying the team we’re sending out is not the long term plan.
Yet 5 months ago we traded a first, third and goalie prospect for a now 35 year old center on the decline w/ 3 years left on his deal.
With these offseason comments they are also saying they want to win as many games as possible so young talent doesn’t come into a losing culture…
Do you guys think our farm system and current team is good enough to just let old players transition out and no new top 3 pick level guys added to our prospect pool?
I’ve watched sports my entire life… and I do not think I’ve ever heard management say going .500 with no real shot at a cup, pick in the 10-15 range , and do not move veterans for younger talent and picks is the right decision.
I get the sentiment of not want losing culture, but all sports are designed to reward the bad teams with better young talent. Obviously hindsight is 20/20, but the schenn trade was a disaster… staying put at the draft seemed like an odd decision only adding a single top 100 player a year after drafting a generational dman. And now trying to compete and running it back seems like the wrong move.
Casey shouldn’t be in the lineup. Palat shouldn’t be in the lineup. Ritchie shouldn’t be getting bottom 6 mins bc Schenn. We have 4 starting defensemen over 30 that could get us value.
Obviously everyone is excited for the season… but if I would have told you when we got schaef the plan to build a cup winner is build nothing around him, do not acquire prospects, TRADE AWAY picks, and play .500 hockey until our vets retire… I don’t think there would be a single person that believed that was the way to go…

Opening Game Tee?
Hi everyone! I’m going to be going to my first Islanders game for the home opener, and I was wondering how the tee giveaway works. Will everyone be able to retrieve one after checking in? Or will it only be limited for a certain amount of attendants (first come first serve)?

Repping NYI and scoring my first goal!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I started playing late for my age in the late 1970s. Stopped in 1983 or 4 when they closed Long Beach Arena.
Last night I scored my first league goal in 8 games this season and first in league play in over 40 years-wearing Schafer’s jersey. A little similar to his first goal but over the goalie and top shelf of, as Butchie says, The Toy Department (goalies’ water bottle took the brunt and popped in the air).
It’s beer league C Level here in North Carolina and casual - still organized with refs and a scorekeeper. I’m rapidly approaching 58 and had:have health issues so this was it.
I do not think, however, I am the solution to the Islanders right side D 🤣🤣🤣
LET’S GO ISLANDERS!

Buying tickets, when where and what section?
Really want to get a Sorokin bobble head and see the team for the first time.. I originally posted about getting to the stadium now I'm curious on finding where to sit.
Was hoping more for an aisle seat, something on Islander side but not sure is it better to get Islander side for first two or get other side for the third? Is it better to get the lower sections like the 100s for the money? Bench side or Penalty box side?
only time I've been in a Hockey arena was Devils and it was for a concert so half the stadium was closed off and we had metal barricades in front of us since we were seated on the floor level if I remember correctly.

Should I draw one for Islanders Fans?
I’ve drawn 14 Game Day pieces for NHL teams now and would like to draw one for the Islanders if there is enough interest. At first glance they may just look like fans walking to the game, but I incorporate the whole history of the team through obvious things like drawing the original arena on the left and current arena on the right, to more hidden references of fan culture and moments in your teams history. Fan clothing, behaviors, signs, shoulder patches, objects, jersey numbers and their arrangement are all used to incorporate as much as possible about your experience as a fan base.
I want authentic fans to reference for the artwork, so If you’d like to be drawn in the original, please contact me. It costs nothing to be drawn into the artwork. Just take a photo walking away from the camera wearing your isles gear and I’ll for you into the artwork. My email is Gamedaypencil@yahoo.com or jeremy@jeremybresciani.com

$10 at a garage sale, and my kid couldn’t be happier
An adult medium won’t fit her properly for probably 5 years, but we weren’t passing up on it no matter what, especially when she saw it was her favorite player.

Can only imagine the kind of number Schaefer is going to get in a few years. Jeez

Time to unintentionally piss people off
I'll put myself out there, and say that I've chose this design for the jersey during the contest.
What would you think if it someone in the contest went with this, only to replace the logo with the "Fisherman" or "Lighthouse"
Also, when this was relevant, what was your reaction to it?

Islander Fans in Dallas
My job is sending me to training outside of Dallas in October. Just so happens I’d be flying in on October 25th and the Isles play the Stars that night.
I’d be there solo and was wondering if anyone from this sub will be at the game.

The final lighthouse jersey will still be “fleshed out”.
Looks like the final jersey design is still subject to some change, which I think many expected and some even hoped for. Per the article below, “The jersey design is still a year away from hitting the ice and in the interim, the corresponding pants, gloves and helmet kit will be fleshed out alongside the final jersey design.”
https://www.nhl.com/islanders/news/behind-the-navy-lighthouse-jersey-design
Edit: I suppose you could interpret that sentence to mean that other parts of the kit will be fleshed out and the jersey is final, but I’m guessing the former.

I made my ideal look for each NHL team and here’s my take on the Islanders
With the Isles, I added a wave design to the sleeves to make a more modern classic looking jersey, while still keeping the core stripe design intact. The orange and white on the sleeves and tail striping of the home jersey get swapped because I’ve never been a fan of the bottom of the sleeve/jersey being white. The home socks now use the away sock design and the stripe is also carried over to the pants. The orange jersey is a reverse retro of the dynasty era away jerseys with the NY alternate logo and sock stripes that finally match the jersey stripes. So with the whole 2027-28 third jersey contest, I submitted a jersey featuring the wave design. (Even though I’m a Rangers fan. I just like designing unis) Now while my submission featured blue instead of teal, I decided to revise it here to feature teal. So basically it’s the “navy fisherman” finalist (which should’ve won) but with a white stripe between the orange and teal to make it more like the mid 90s fisherman jerseys. And I’m gonna be real, I like both the navy and white versions I made, so I’ll let you guys decide which looks better. The numbers come from the Reverse Retro 2.0 jerseys, but the orange jersey uses the current font.

Saw the Cup today in NC. Recent damage has partially collapsed one of the rings, obscuring only the Islanders' wins team names.
Seems pretty fishy that only a division rival's names were covered...
Edit: guys obviously I'm joking about the intentional damage...

Schaefer 7th in NHL Networks top 20 defenseman right now list
I think he could be ahead of Hutson, but regardless it’s incredible he’s already a top 10 defenseman after only his 1st NHL season

What's the best way of travel from GCT?
If I go from GCT is that the best and easiest form of travel using the LIRR?
Also what's that roughly going to cost and how busy is it usually during travel to and from games?
Really want to try and at least go to one game, maybe a few depending on price but everyone I know has a strong dislike for us...
