I always tell people - never order anything you wouldn't want thrown from Amazon. I've worked on their shipping dock and can tell you right away that wasn't the first time it was thrown...at the end of the night management actually instructs you to do it, to be done with the work quicker/on time. Same thing for mail too really (i would imagine)

I work for the post office and while I cannot say parcels aren’t thrown like this, clerks do toss fragile stuff into the hamper, similar to putting a gallon of milk on top of a dozen eggs.

i worked at a major sorting facility and i can 100% confirm we threw shit. we would get a big crate of express sorting to do. we would all stand around it, pick stuff up and throw untill the crate is empty and then repeat

I worked UPS in college. People legitimately shoulder rammed packages to squeeze them into place.
If you want something delivered respectfully, the only method is to pick it up yourself, unfortunately.

When I delivered for amazon during covid, we would have like a 7 minute window to fully load the vans and scan in every tote/oversized box. We were absolutely YEETING those things into the van to save time, otherwise we'd get punished by management.

I worked at the ups store. My manager told us to pack it like someone was gonna be dropkicking it the whole way there. If it's not packed to be thrown, it's not packed right.

Bro this is every delivery service. I’ve worked for Amazon and UPS. Let alone what happens at airports. That’s why they pack things the way they do. They know it’s gonna get knocked around during delivery and shipping. That’s why they have special tags on high dollar items, fragile items, TVs etc.
“Hey don’t throw this or it will cost us money”
Everything else is being thrown I can promise you.

I haven't expected any carrier in decades to treat any of my packages with respect. I just hope the shipper packs them well enough to survive, and most of the time they do.

Yup, id even see people spike packages on the ground in sorting centers. It was normal. Thats why we put packing material in the boxes.

Can confirm. It's not even meant to be malicious but it is a byproduct of shipping thousands and thousands of packages a day. There is a reason you bubble wrap the shit out of your fragile packages. It's not because of delivery drivers. It's airplane rides, ships, conveyor belts, drops, shakes, bumps, loading, unloading, weather, accidents, etc. all before it even reaches the underpaid delivery person. Amazon sucks because there is no real packaging standards since most things come from individuals or warehouses or unrelated companies. If your package is busted, there should be just as many fingers pointing at the people that packaged it as are pointed at the system that delivered it.

At least they're usually good about refunds. I ordered a mini fridge and it came damaged...twice. the second time took a little more effort to get refunded but honestly that's on me for trying again 🤣 ended up buying the third one from brick and mortar.

Not to mention the machines themselves, actual transit, etc. I got a package yesterday where the inside box was damaged, probably in a warehouse. But it was packed fine, so the product is fine.
There are ways to ship and have your packages taken better care of, but it's slower and costs more.

I can guarantee packages go through the same if not worse conditions in the warehouses of USPS, Fedex, UPS, Walmart, Target than Amazon warehouses. And stuff gets thrown in Amazon warehouses hundreds of times a day

Ideally these drivers would be compensated fairly and not made to do 200 stops a day to the point that they can't take bathroom breaks. But unfortunately, this is the price we pay for cheapness and convenience.

If people only knew the things that happened to their packages before they ever see it. I've never worked for Amazon, but when I was younger I worked for a major airline out of Baltimore. They used to ship live crabs in from the gulf, because there just weren't enough crabs in the Chesapeake Bay for all the restaurants, so they had to ship them in. Needless to say, boxes of live crabs, that are packed with ice, melt. They melt a lot. I used to wear rain gear unpacking them, because if I didn't I would smell like crabs for the rest of the day, and being a female that's never a good thing. But rest assured that there wasn't a separate compartment for these melting boxes of crabs. They were right in there with your luggage and USPS packages.
Edit: Geez, I didn't put them in there, I just unloaded them. People will downvote for anything.

A lot of people seem to be lost with what's going on here.
I work as a UPS driver, there comes a level of professionalism you need to display when delivering people's belongings. Although this is seemingly a T-Shirt, you never truly know what's inside of the packaging. This is taught at a very basic level for the delivering industry.
I see people mentioning him walking across the lawn... I personally wouldn't care if it were my lawn that someone walked across, UPS teaches us to not walk on lawns because of holes, people complaining about property damage (happens a hell of a lot more than you would think) & I avoid grass all the time. Gopher hole has taken my ankles victim too many times, no thanks.
We had a casual driver fired because he tossed an envelope. It's not about what the package is, how expensive it is, it's about professionalism.
This driver clearly displayed zero professionalism.
