Progress Pic Starting my second fast

So I did a fast last year around this time 28
Days . I went from 244 (first pic) to 213. (I regained at around 223)

I kept making better choices with eating while working on muscle and got to 210 (second pic). I wanna get to my goal weight of 170. I’m guessing for that to happen lll need to make it to 40-50 days.

The only reason I stopped my fast the first time was i experienced numbness in my thighs and stomach? Researching now, I think that meant I didn’t get enough electrolytes. anyone else ever experience that? I got actual electrolytes powder this time vs just adding my own salt to water. Hopefully that’ll help me monitor my intake better.

I work at a casino and they maintain a buffet in the break room for employees. They got a new manager and they’re really dialing up their buffet. It looks sooo good. And I’m just sitting here sipping on my electrolyte water. Reminding myself of why I started fasting in The first place.

Feel free to leave me all the encouragement you want!

Discussion Food addict got back into the mindset again, 24/72 achieved!

My fasting has been spotty of late. I am ketovore but have been stress eating over circumstances in the family! ( Otherwise, I can physically handle fasting since I don't do carbs.) I have finally clicked in to a 72-hr fast!!!

Preparing for a small trip to a gathering, I was deep-cleaning my kitchen, and decided I was not going to dirty up any more dishes or cookware!!! The kitchen is nice and clean!! Knowing I will be with extended family of an inlaw, I will be eating less (as they have small appetites.) (Perfect way to shrink my stomach for the trip!) The last leg of the journey will cover the end of the fast! Clothes that have been a bit snug will fit better, too!!!

As the title says, I got an infection and need to take antibiotics for a week.

I was planning a week long fast and currently at day 2

Is it possible or the strain on the stomach is too much?

Discussion Valter Longo Fasting Mimicking Diet vs Water Fasting For Longevity Benefits: Thoughts?

Just went through a couple of podcasts with Dr. Valter Longo about FMD and it seems he is persistent but at the same time a little vague about the superiority of FMD over pure water fast. He easily gets into the defensive mode.

I really liked the parts he talked about overall fasting benefits. I didn't like the vague arguments defending FMD as the way to go. Him selling FMD kits doesn't play well with this too.

Is it a confirmation bias on my part, being an experienced and regular water faster?

On the other hand, from the so-called evolutionary biology perspective, our ancestors I guess were constantly chewing random sticks and roots between the big kill on a hunt, thus filling their stomachs with fiber.

Any other accomplished fasting researchers you can recommend to listen to? Thanks!

Question Broke 7 day fast at 2 days

Hello, I’ve been following this subreddit for a year now, and it’s been soooo helpful in my fasting journey.
I’ve been doing ADF 3 times a week for the past couple of months, and thought to finally do an extended fast. I wanted to try a 7 day fast and was okay with breaking it early since it’s my first time trying. I was drinking plenty of electrolytes and plenty of water ( like 3Litres everyday) and my only exercise was going for a walk to finish 7.5K steps. I’d say I was pretty relaxed and not working my body hard at all, but by day 3 I woke up with tingling arms and legs and palpitations, it felt unsafe so I just cut it short and had some bone broth.

I’m planning on trying again but wondering if there’s a way to build up to it ? I was thinking of doing 2 day fasts for a few weeks until my body got used to it and slowly building up the days. Any thoughts ?
And thank you for your response ~

TLDR: how to build up to a 7 day fast ?

Question Need advice from the fasting veterans: how would you time a fast for the lightest possible weigh-in?

Hey Fasting Reddit, I'm hoping the fasting experts here can help. I'm trying to plan this properly and I've hit a wall.

My weight history:

- Started: 184 kg

- Fasting (3–4 days fast, 1 day eating) over about 12–15 months → 94 kg

- Regained to 144 kg

- Weight loss challenge → 113 kg

- Regained to 132 kg

- Currently 118 kg, and I'm in week 9 of a 20-week challenge.

I've done a lot of prolonged fasting and consider myself experienced, but I've never gone beyond 6 days.

My final weigh-in is October 31, and I'm considering attempting a 2-week to 30-day fast. I have the supplements sorted and the biggest challenge is boredom, not hunger.

My main concern is timing.

I know that after a prolonged fast, once you refeed, you'll regain glycogen and water weight. If I start a 30-day fast now, I'd finish in early October and worry that I'd regain a lot of water before the final weigh-in.

So what would you do if the goal was to be at the lightest possible weight on October 31?

- Would you do a 30-day fast now and manage the refeed?

- Would you time it so you're still fasting at the final weigh-in (for example, finishing with a 2-week fast)?

- What's the best strategy to minimize glycogen and water regain before weigh-in?

I'm looking for advice specifically from people with experience timing longer fasts around weigh-ins. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.

Question Question regarding lite salt

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi, I’m a beginner into fasting. Last week I did a 96 hour water fast without any electrolytes and I felt I need use some. I bought this salt and consuming 15 grams of this per day would roughly give me 4 grams of Sodium and 2.3 grams of potassium. But somehow it seems 3 teaspoonfuls of salt would be too much daily. I guess I need guidance.
