Hey Fasting Reddit, I'm hoping the fasting experts here can help. I'm trying to plan this properly and I've hit a wall.
My weight history:
- Started: 184 kg
- Fasting (3–4 days fast, 1 day eating) over about 12–15 months → 94 kg
- Regained to 144 kg
- Weight loss challenge → 113 kg
- Regained to 132 kg
- Currently 118 kg, and I'm in week 9 of a 20-week challenge.
I've done a lot of prolonged fasting and consider myself experienced, but I've never gone beyond 6 days.
My final weigh-in is October 31, and I'm considering attempting a 2-week to 30-day fast. I have the supplements sorted and the biggest challenge is boredom, not hunger.
My main concern is timing.
I know that after a prolonged fast, once you refeed, you'll regain glycogen and water weight. If I start a 30-day fast now, I'd finish in early October and worry that I'd regain a lot of water before the final weigh-in.
So what would you do if the goal was to be at the lightest possible weight on October 31?
- Would you do a 30-day fast now and manage the refeed?
- Would you time it so you're still fasting at the final weigh-in (for example, finishing with a 2-week fast)?
- What's the best strategy to minimize glycogen and water regain before weigh-in?
I'm looking for advice specifically from people with experience timing longer fasts around weigh-ins. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.
