Edit: fence* wow can’t believe I missed that one in the title
Hi all,
Long time lurker first time poster. Ive got a fence in my front yard dividing my yard from my neighbor’s. Let me share that I was not the original installer here, and have tried to keep it together for as long as possible for the 3 years I’ve lived here (added some nails to pickets here and there) but need some advice on where to go now.
It was always whacky and looked like a shoddy install job and my attempts at getting it more structurally sound have failed. This year with all the storms and everything it’s rougher than ever: pickets falling off, things are disconnecting from posts, etc. I need to do something about it, I feel bad for my neighbor.
I don’t think the original install or maintenance was done properly, neighbor says it was installed about 5yrs ago.
Looking at everything here, is there anything salvageable? Some of the posts are in an awful state, I’d feel fine DIYing the new fencing if I could just leave the posts but I’m concerned with the really bad ones that I’ll have to tear them out and install new ones which is probably above my comfort level.
Any advice here? Burn it with fire and start anew? Any cheaper, DIY-able route with what I have left, particularly the posts?
Thanks in advance!
